I got this forwarded to me today from a buddy. Apparently a friend of a friend was in Tuscaloosa last week & decided to run by the football offices. He saw Nick Saban’s S550 parked in the spot reserved for “HEAD COACH” and decided to leave him a present on his nice $90k Mercedes.

I saw that today also. But get ready - bamers will scream adobe photoshop. A simple prank like this would never occur at their hallowed institution.

He went for the cheap considering his deal. I guess he didn't want to be noticed.

Great, now every Alabama fan has Saban's plate#(not that it's easy to conceal the identity of a Mercedes S-Class in Tuscaloosa, AL even with a plant down the road).

All you would have to do is go look in the parking lot. As you can see, its marked "Head Coach." Plus its not his personal car. Its his University owned car, IIRC.

Jesus, those boosters REALLY want the head coach to live in luxury. What's the going rate for a 2007 S550 again?

MSRP is $86,525 with a destination fee bringing it to $87,525 before options. Premium II package brings it to $90,275. I'd venture to say that car is in the $105,000 range once all options are accounted for.

Don't know if it's his personal car or anything but I have seen him in it. Two weeks ago I had a meeting in Tuscaloosa along with a Bammer buddy of mine and wile we were down there he told me he had never been to the Bryant museum. Well I took pitty on him so after our meeting I took him by there. I did find it quite amusing they already have a giant wall dedicated to Saban in the museum even though he has not done anything yet. Strangely there was nothing in there about Shula. Anyway, we left there and walked by Athletic complex and Saban himself walked out and got in this very Mersedes and drove off. As he drove by I looked at my bammer buddy and saw a lone tear run down his cheek. It was touching.

I know that Saban is going to do a great job and get Bama on its feet again, but man, what if he doesn't come through for the Bama nation in the next two years? Ouch! I guess you can paint over just about anything.

I can't say for sure but it looked like his display was on wheels. It was quite fancy though. It had pictures from when he arrived at the airport and at his first press conference. There was also two TV's showing video footage of both events. But that was about it. I guess they will add some pictures of him actually coaching once he has done some. I didn't think it was too good of an idea to include the picture of the drunk woman throwing herself at Saban at the airport though.

The S-Class is much more inconspicuous in Tuscaloosa, than it would be among the rebel flag clad, jacked-up trucks and tractors of auburn.

They do the same thing with every coach. It's a "current coach" wall essentially.

The funny thing is you guys think boosters or school paid for this. ALL SCHOOLS have a couple of auto dealers who give cars to athletic department to drive.

Even High School coaches who have success have cars given to them. Our high school coach got a brand new pick up truck a few years ago. Now granted the boosters got together and paid for it, ive heard of our rival coaches getting cars leased to them by dealers who support the schools.

Saban has a proclivity for the big, expensive Benz. That's what he drove in Baton Rouge, except the last one he had here was white.

Our high school band director had a van provided by the band boosters.

Let's not forget Mercedes is in T-town as well. So he supports the locals.
