First round of the National Invitation Tournament kicked off tonight:

Mississippi State - 82
Miss Valley State - 63

Congrats, Miss St. on a relatively easy win, and a school-record 14th home win in a season. You'll play the winner between Providence and Bradley. Something tells me Bradley will be the one....

Massachusetts - 89
Alabama - 87, OT

Tough loss against the Minutemen, Bammers. I thought ya'll played well. It looked like you were turning the game your way when Riley hit that game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into OT. That Stephane Lasme was a freak for Mass tonight.....he has spring coils for legs.

Georgia and Mississippi play tomorrow night.

Yeah State really stretched their legs in that game. They are playing like a NCAAT team right now.

Look for State and F$U to be the top teams in the NIT.

I am licking my chops for a state/fsu game in Starkville. From what I've seen it is the Al Thornton(sp?) show for fsu, and if we can shut him down, which is easier said than done, we can beat them with tough d and our inside play. Hopefully I'll be watching the dawgs at msg in a few weeks.

Congrats to both sets of SEC Bulldogs! UGA beat the Fresno State Bulldogs 88-78. Also, great game for Ole Miss, who beat Appalachian State 73-59. It'd be nice to see an NIT title for the SEC again, too.

it would be great if all three teams could get to msg. But I'm sure ESPN would say it is still a down year for the sec since we didn't have all four slots in New York. Good luck to Georgia and Ole Miss.
