I really think this Tournament won't have as many upsets or surprises compared to recent years. If anything, I think this year will be the first time all the #1s advance to Atlanta. BUT, I want to hear your Sweet 16 "surprise teams".
For me, Creighton will advance to San Antonio. They are solid!! Their first round game against Nevada will be awesome but I think they are balanced enough to take care of Nevada and will certainly get by a SEVERLY over-rated Memphis club!!
Winthrop is another team to watch. I don't think they get past Oregon to make it to St. Louis, but it certainly would not surprise me. They are experienced, balanced, and tournament tested. Watch them!!
Yours???

GA Tech b/c in all likelyhood they would have to go through Wisconsin. A #10 knocking off a #2 to advance to the sweet 16 would be a suprise to many.

I have Winthrop because I'm a bit of a homer, I'll admit. I picked them to beat Notre Dame(6 seed), then Oregon(3 seed) to advance to the sweet 16.

That may be the easiest route to the sweet 16. It could happen

I actually think that this bracket offers a lot more chances for some major upsets. I feel very confident about my first round games, but after that I feel like it's almost a 50/50 shot on every other game. I expect a decent amount of the big seeds (i.e. the #1's, 2's and 3's) to lose to some mid-range seeds (#'s 4-8).

I hate to say this because I love Florida's team, and they are hot right now, but I don't think they get past the sweet 16. Whoever they play is going to be hyped up to knock off the defending champs. Just a gut feeling. I am not trying to piss off FL fans.

The good part about our bracket is that I don't even see anyone capable of the upset. UW has a chance, but their big men (the ones they have left)aren't very athletic. They're slow and aren't really scoring threats. UF is hitting their stride at tourney time, just like last year. They're great at the tournaments, and always turn it up a notch. As far as bracket busters, I think GT is going to make trouble.

I agree. Once we reach the final 4 and maybe NCG, we will play the teams who have what it takes to beat us in tourney time. Till then I think its double digit wins to the final 4.

If we wind up playing Tech... we beat them by only 4 or 5 points...
(Im kind of a Tech homer)

That's pretty strong saying you will win by double digits until the final four. You do know that this is the NCAA tournament don't you? They will have some exciting games on the way to another championship. My gut just tells me to not pick FL to get past the sweet 16. I know their bracket seems light, but you never know.

I think Florida will have their hands full with Wisconsin if they meet but I think they will win. They seems to be the heavy favorites in the Midwest Region but I think Winthrop could be this years George Mason IMO. I think Michigan State will get hot and suprise some people and I think they can pull of an upset over UNC if they can slow them down to their speed. Tom Izzo is a great tourney coach just like Coach K at Duke.

It does not seem strong to me at all. We won by more than 10 every game but 1 last year. And this is the same team only one year older.

2006 NCAAT

1st round Florida 76
S. Ala 50

2nd round Florida 82
Wis-Mil. 60

3rd round Florida 57
G'town 53

4rd round Florida 75
Villanova 62

final 4 Florida 73
G Mason 58

NCG Florida 73
UCLA 57

We won every game in the tourney by an average of 19 points last year.

You got the target on your back this year. Maybe you can repeat though, the hogs got soo close in 95.

LBS has the experience to beat UT. LBS's top 7 are all seniors.

I like Winthrop to make some trouble, too. Their only losses were on the road at North Carolina, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Texas A&M. That's the bad news. The good news is that those are the only great teams they played, too. And, they'd have to beat several to make a whole lot of trouble. While I think GT will make trouble, I definitely didn't mean to imply that I thought they'd get anywhere near UF. I just think they'll screw up some people's brackets. With Wisconsin's only real front court threat, Brian Butch, out, most don't think the Badgers have any chance against Florida's front court. He was the top rebounder and best-shooting big man. UW's replacements just fill space. Play ball, already!

I know; and all you ever heard about was UCLA's defense. By the time the Championship game came around, I was practically screaming at anyone who would listen, "Forget about UCLA's D, look at Florida's D. Those shot-swatters haven't allowed more than 62 points the whole tourney!" And if you watched the game, you know they absolutely dominated and manhandled UCLA. They were swatting balls all over the court and stands.

I agree. That target is going to make it hard to repeat. Florida is going to get everyones best shot. I hope you guys can pull off the repeat though. I really like the makeup of your team.

Thanks for that. Sometimes I think people discount UF because we don't have that one superstar. They don't realize that's what makes the team great in the first place. Since everybody can score, they can't all be covered all of the time. Every commentator in every game has alluded to it. They've all asked,"When they're firing on all cylinders, how can you defend against this team?". It's an ideal makeup. Anyway, we've had the bullseye on our backs since we won it last year. Everyone's given us their best shot. I hope we can sustain our roll for 6 more games. Congrats to your Hogs for making another SECCG and the NCAA tourney. I called it from the beginning. I thought they deserved a bid by going to the SECCG, and obviously a lot of other people did, too.
