This IS still a sports web-site, right??? I know it's not football season and it's not like I'm losing sleep over this, but it seems to me that if you had any desire to expand this web-site's popularity and membership, the home page wouldn't read like Bobby Bouche's personal Blog. I mean, it's tourney time, baseball's fixing to get in high gear, and the NBA playoff's are just around the corner yet the home page is splattered with articles on oil rigs and meaningless national academic awards. I feel like I'm looking at a local-yocal Louisiana wanna be newspaper. I mean, if the content of the front page is not going to go beyond copying and pasting half-bit journalists' articles from other media outlets, wouldn't it make sense that they be sports related??
Now, I realize I need to be careful what I wish for, as I can see somebody's response to this thread being to splatter the Home page with EVERY one of LSU's oh-so impressive statistical rankings from a year ago along with LSU's all time results in Track and Field or Water Polo or some other main-stream sport.
I'm not trying to pick on anybody in particular and none of this is going to keep me from making my not-too-often appearances in here, but a little balance with maybe a smattering of sports related news (just a suggestion)would be nice. It's just very disapointing to be 2 days away from the greatest annual College sporting event that has 5 SEC participants involved and to have the Home page look like it currently does!!
Just my humble observations!!!
GO VOLS!!!

I'd like to see SEC baseball standings and game results on the front page since I can't seem to find one page with all that info anywhere else.

Not sure if you're aware of it, but the SEC web site provides the baseball records (both overall and within the SEC) and standings. If you click on the "2007 Team Schedules" it shows the results/scores for each SEC team so far. If you already know about this, my apologies.

You're right Gamecock, that's a good site for the info.
Still wish this site had that info just for convenience's sake.

On the link I provided, look below the SEC baseball standings. Right below that is the "2007 Team Schedules."
If you're getting the main SEC site with the link, click on "Baseball" at the top and the standings should show up. Then the "2007 Team Schedules" are directly below the standings.

Geaux just needs to stop posting non-sports stuff to the News forum. Leave it in the Water Fountain.

It will certainly be my pleasure to accommodate you. You're saying that the News Forum is only for sports news and that is fine by me. I posted there mainly to keep it from stagnating.

Well, if that's the case maybe the solution is to have 2 separate Forums: One for News and the other for Sports News and to definitetly have the Home page reflect the Sports News.
Then again, I (and I would imagine others would agree with this) do not come to or rely on this web-site for "news". I am strictly here for opinion.... both reading and relaying. Regardless, I like the majority of the web-site in terms of design, layout, and ease of use. It's just that (IMO) the "content" on the Home page certainly needs an uplift or even perhaps just a direction or goal. To have a smattering of non-sports related miscellaneous articles on ANY sports web-site's Home page just doesn't make sense to me.
Finally, you know Geauxto that I was just taking some cheap fun shots at you and don't mean for it to over-shadow all of the hard work you do for the site. I am curious, though, when are you announcing the name change of the site to "LSUandsectalk.com"??

Your point that the opening page should probably reflect SEC sports because that is the nature of the animal is a good one. Perhaps we'll see that happen.
I recognized the "good naturedness" of your post and took no offense. And I really like the name change, but, alas, you know The Barners and The Bammers would be at war even there, so I guess we should just leave it as is.
On a FOOTBALL NOTE; I hope Ainge is able to return in time to begin the season.

It just occurred to me...........there have not been enough off-season SEC player arrests to maintain a steady diet of news bits. Boy, that's disappointing, huh?

I'll be doing some pre-season write-ups once it gets closer to the season, then every sunday I'll have an article featuring all the games and stuff. If you guys want more baseball articles I'll definitely do some of them.
