We just got another verbal from the (right now atleast) top RB in Texas in Jermie Calhoun.
Our list so far is from scout.com,
Texas Top 100's:
Jermie Calhoun(RB) Top 100
Justin Johnson(RB) Top 100
RJ Washington(DE) Top 100
Daniel Franklin(LB) Top LB from Georgia
Stephen Good(OL) Top 100
Britt Mitchell(OL) Top 100
All of which with Tabonbeing the exception could be top 50 before it is all said and done.
Next expected commit, Ben Habern(OL), top center in Texas and also top 100.

BTW, the top 100, is Texas top 100. Not Scouts, top 100.
Also it is rumored that Britt Mitchell switched from aTm to OU. He is a Texas Top 100 OL.

Do ya'll really need any RB's? Seems like whoever you put in there is an All American

Make sure they aren't working at any used car lots.

No, we now have them working at a wholesale place for tractors(joking obviously), this way, if they roll on up in a pimped out John Deere, we know somethings up. ;)

Even with Adrian Peterson here, although you wouldn't know it by listening to the media, OU has consistantly played close to 4 RBs every year.
Granted, that is due to AD's injuries as well, but even then, 2 or 3 is not a stretch on how uses RBs.
The REALLY good news? Bryce Brown(projected to be the #1 RB next year), Authur Browns brother(who loves OU), is also a HUGE fan of OU.
OU is definately going to be set at RB for quite some time.

Scout with the updated rankings is showing OU with 5 5*'s and a real good shot at adding two more in Lynn Katoa and Authur Brown.

Actually GN, the difference is, Stoops has started offering kids at our Jr Camp(a couple days after signing day) and before Texas' camp. Stoops use to wait until atleast June and the summer camps before offering anyone and persuing them seriously.
Mack Brown started offering kids like this when he joined the Big XII. It has worked great for them. So Bob Stoops has now taken that advantage away from Texas.
Also, Texas' is kind of hurting with all the early transfers out of the college due to academics and problems with the law. So they can't take chances on kids who aren't set academically. ala Jermie Calhoun
The APA is it? that regulates the scholarships due to your academic acheivements and graduation rates has Texas real close to losing scholarships.

I was just kiddin', but I didn't know that. Makes sense though....
And I just got Steele's publication...said some amazing things about OU's secondary. Looks like you guys are looking good for another Big XII title.

I remember Mack Brown had four early 5-star commitments last summer. Then once the recruiting race started heating up, commitments started getting interested in other schools and Texas ended up losing a good portion of their early recruits. Don't count your chickens before they hatch is all I'm sayin'. By the way, I think UGA has five early commitments ranked on the Rivals100 as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think Phil Steele is one of the best, but he also picked OU to win the NC last year. But who knows what would have happened if Bomar/Quinn didn't ---- up like that and we had a good QB instead of an avg one in Paul thompson(which I respect greatly btw). I think our secondary has 2 Srs and the rest are all Jr/So. In only Bobby Jack Wrights 2nd y ear as secondary coach, he had OU(atleast after Oregon), back to where we were performance wise when Mike Stoops was here.
DME, believe me, I'm not. But the off-season is so damn long that I gotta get excited about something.
It is nice when you start turning down 4* type talent in June because you are filling up on scholarships.

Definitely. I would be excited about the upcoming year, too, if I were a sooner fan. Except for the QB situation, anyway. I'm not sure about getting excited about turning down four star talent, though. You guys do have a number of three stars committed already. LSU "turned down" or didn't offer a lot of four star caliber guys last year, and there were reasons behind it. That is, LSU didn't refuse to offer them because we had better players, but because the coaching staff saw something different than they wanted. You guys got one of them, I believe (DE Alexander from Baton Rouge). Tennessee got another (Paige). But maybe I'm just being a jerk and pissing all over your parade. Sorry.

No, I agree. In fact, with the problems we have in depth at DE, you have no clue how happy I was that LSU backed off on Alexander.
But I'll be honest, the one kid I know we turned down was a DE from Texas. OU is looking to either get Aghayere(not likely), or there are a couple JCs that OU likes that can play in the noseguard position if we go to a 3-4.
But I'll take our 3*'s over anyones anyday. Daniel Franklin is extremely underrated IMO. Venables loves this kid like crazy because of his work ethic and mean streak on the field. And I'll be honest if Venables(as I'm sure you feel the same with Pelini) says this kid is good, I'm going to believe him. He's turned low ranked LBs into Butkus winners(Teddy Lehman).

One more thing on the DE. Cameron Meredith out of CA is suppose to be a great DE that OU feels is one of the better ones. He's also on that list with Aghayere.

Jeff Fuller(Florida was recruiting him), committed to OU a couple days ago.
Rivals has him at #13 WR I believe. 6'4" 185 lbs.

Someone mentioned in the SEC thread that Julio Jones was pretty much not looking at OU.
Okay, so let me share something with some of you.
A poster on ouinsider.com said that he saw Julio Jones in the OU section, yelled at him, did the OU sign with his arms and Julio Jones smiled at him and waved.
Many criticized the guy because that would mean that he had to get OU tickets on his own(UT was the home team and only they can host recruits at the game)...that's at least $100 at face value(he was doing extremely good if he got that). Then the money for traveling...estimated around $300 or more.
In his most recent interview he said this....
“My top five would probably be Oklahoma, Clemson, South Carolina, Kentucky and South Florida,” said Lester. “Julio and I just went out and watched Oklahoma when they played Texas, but I don’t know a lot about them. I like Oklahoma. They looked pretty good.”
I am not saying OU is going to get this guy or is in the lead, because if he leaves Alabama and Saban, I'd be stunned. But I think that gives us a legit shot.
BTW, I'm not calling anyone out, but he is an SEC recruit as well so I thought it would be of interest to some of you.
