I just don't see Bama getting in the NCAAT with an SEC record of 7-9.
Hopefully I am wrong though. I hope Bama does get in because that makes a better case for my Dogs getting in.
I have become confused over who is in and who is not.
The experts say that the SEC is the #1 RPI conference , yet in the same breath they say that the SEC may get as few as 4 teams in the NCAAT.
UHHHHHHHH.......What the hell????
If the SEC is the highest RPI conference then shouldn't We get more than 4 teams in the NCAAT?
I say that ANY team in the SEC who finishes at .500 or above should be in the NCAAT.
Hell , Bama is 7-9 and I could make a strong case for them getting in the NCAAT.
Some SEC team will get screwed though at the expense of getting an ACC or Big 10 t4eam in.
I don't think Bama will get in. State really still needs to win 2 games before they should get in, Ole Miss at least 1. It's going to be tough for the division champions alone, playing either Tenn/LSU (Ole Miss), or Bama/(Kentucky?) (MSU). Can't wait for the tourney though, should be a good one.

not just a no, but a hell no.
we'd get embarrased by whoever we'd be playing. did you see the MSU game. we have no transition defense whatsoever.
the only bright spot in this is that we'll get a couple of home games for NIT where we can develop our younger players (torrance will be good if he had any pt)

The only way we have a chance to get an at large bid to the dance is to make it to Sunday in the SEC tourney and even that may not be enough. We don't really have any impressive wins to hang our hats on, our road performance was absolutely embarrassing, and we folded down the stretch and gave away several games we could not afford to.
This team has alot of talent, but leaves alot to be desired. They don't play hard or consistent, sloppy with the ball, can't/won't play defense outside the paint, and horrible coaching.
I'd like to see them make it, but if they don't, I won't lose any sleep over it. We don't deserve it.

No west team deserves a bid.

I think Bama needs to win at least one or two games in the SEC tourney to go. Now granted 20 wins seems to be the magic number for some teams but I think Alabama needs at least one more. Granted playing the East teams will help your RPI, not playing them twice in a year is only to Bama's disadvantage.
We will see though. IMO its hard for the NCAA to ignore an SEC team with 20 or more wins:thumpsup:

yes but how can you justify giving a team with a 7-9 record a bid over two teams that finished ahead of them in conference. Last year FSU was in the same place that Alabama is in this year, 20 wins, 7-9 conference record. They were snubbed. But if state, ole miss, or bama make a run to the finals, then they would deserve a bid. But only one of the three will get in.

Nobody in the west deserves it. Florida deserves it and thats all. All the other teams are second rate. The SEC it sucking BIG time this year.

Don't down the whole SEC just because your team has started sucking it up at the end of the year. The SEC is just as strong this year as it was last year.

And MSUBully gets the delusional fan of the day award. You think the conference is as good as the conf. that had 2 final four teams and a tough UK, Bama etc. etc. No way this conf. is a top 4 conf.
UK is marginal
UGA is Bad
Bama is horrid
USC is not even worth a NIT bid
Auburn is mediocre
Ole Miss and MSU are beneficial being in the worst division of all BCS conferences
Ark. is talking about firing their coach
UF is on par
UT is doing pretty good
Vandy is Vandy... very consistent.

we've done decent out of conference, we will obviously find out how good we are in the tourney
I will tell you this, Tennessee, Auburn and Miss. State are three of the quickest teams Ive seen in awhile.........too bad Auburn came on too late, I think they would win a couple of rounds, Tennessee, barring no Lofton injury, will make Sweet 16 easy..................I think the conference is better than it looks

Don't down the whole SEC just because your team has started sucking it up at the end of the year. The SEC is just as strong this year as it was last year.Sadly, we started sucking long before the end of the year.
That said, you're on crack if you think the SEC is as strong this year as it has been in the last 3-4 years.

OK...I was saying alot of the same things about the SEC this time last year. If the SEC is so terrible, who's better than they are?? I'll spot you the big 12...Kansas, Texas A&M, Texas, and KState are great! That tourney's gonna be fun to watch. BUT, outside that, who doesn't the SEC compare to?? I know with all of the meat in the East, it distorts the picture, but who else is better??
The ACC?? NO!!
The Big East?? NO!!
The Big Ten?? Two Horse show....NO!!
The Pac 10?? NO!!
I mean, if your argument is that it's top heavy, I'll buy that (to a point), but like football, in terms of depth, the SEC is second to none. Maybe only a couple of really good teams, but unlike most, there is no real garbage. LSU recently beat Florida and USC is the only team to beat Tennessee lately, so even your cellar dwellars can compete. Subjective argument granted, but I feel your opinions are baseless!!

Just take the top 4 of each conf. since that is all the SEC is.
SEC: #7 UT, #9 UF, #12 UK, #37 Vandy
You take those four would you think the SEC in a tourny with 8 teams would win?
The ACC: Absolutely Not. #3 UNC, #10 Maryland, #13 Duke and #29 Boston College
The Big 10: NO. #2 Ohio State, #4 Wisconsin, #22 Michigan State and # 23 Indiana
Pac 10: No squared: #1 UCLA, #13 Arizona, #26 Wash. St. and #27 Oregon
Big XII: SEC WINS! #15 Kansas, #16 Texas A&M, #28 Texas and #40 Texas Tech
Big East: I think they win #5 Pitt, #17 Gtown, #18 Nova and #24 Marquette
We beat only the Big twelve in my opinion.

come on guy, Big East/Pac10 overrated, I think the Big 12 is the meanest of the bunch you listed and Florida DRUMMED Ohio State who beat Wisconsin and everyone else in the Big Ten and recently Florida has been beaten 4 times by the middle of the pack teams in the SEC
BamaFanNKy
03-05-2007, 03:07 PM
Big East is very good. Pitt, Gtown and Nova could win the SEC.
Pac 10 is not overrated. They play team OOC on the road.
Speaking of on the road, UF beat OSU early in the season (a team which had basically high school experience) at home.
Big 12 is very overrated. Texas has Durrant then what.

The conference has some pretty decent wins, Tennessee thumped Memphis, Georgia defeated Gonzaga, Florida used Ohio State as a rag doll, Kentucky slapped Louisville, and LSU beat Texas. There were a lot of other big wins and near wins on the road, some notible ones that I can think of is MSU near wins on the road at Missouri and Clemson, Alabama defeating Xavier, and I'm sure there are a lot of others. No the SEC is not down this year, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Arkansas are all up from where tey were last year, Kentucky may be a little down, but this is Kentucky we're talking about come tournament time they will bring their A game. Florida is just as good as they were last year. No the SEC is not down it just seems that way to someone who doesn't watch every game, it's just that the league is much more balanced than last year.

I think it's funny all the games mentioned UGA vs. Gonzaga at UGA, UT vs. Memphis at UT and Florida vs. OSU at Florida. The other two games UK vs. Louisville was in Freedom Hall and on that game UK has almost as many fans. Then you were neutral site for LSU vs. Texas.
Then turn to the other side. What are the leagues worst non-conference losses:
Alabama: Notre Dame (#33) Road
Auburn: Southern Miss (#127) Home
Arkansas: Missouri (#77) Road
Florida: FSU (#48) Road
Georgia: Western Kentucky (#96) Home
Kentucky: Memphis (#7) Neutral
LSU: Wichita (#100) Home
Ole Miss: UCONN (#104) Road
MSU: George Mason (#120) Road
UT: Butler (#29) Neutral
Vandy: Furman (#195) Home
Non Conf Road wins:
Alabama: MTSU (#156) Neutral, Iowa (#84) Neutral, Xavier (#32) Neutral, NC State (#114) Road
Auburn: None
Arkansas: So. Illinois (#6) Neutral, Marist (#108) Neutral, WVU (#57) Neutral
Florida: W. Kentucky (#96) Neutral
Georgia: Wake Forest (#124) Road
Kentucky: DePaul (#63) Neutral, Louisville (#40) Road,
LSU: Or. State (#179) Road
Ole Miss: So. Alabama (#132) Road, Fairfield (#205) Neutral, Central Arkansas (#312) Neutral
MSU: Miami (#164) Road
UT: Louisianna Laf. (#269) Neutral
Vandy: Ten. Tech (#143) Neutral, Puerto Rico Magauyez (NR)
Where as we don't look bad win we lose.... We look horriable on the road or on neutral sites. This theory "we beat ourselves up" is crap. We don't play on the road in non-conf in fear of losing. Our best ROAD win is UK beating Louisville. A Louisville team that was down. The real win I was impressed with, Arkansas beating SIU on a neutral floor.
THE CONFERENCE IS NOT THAT GOOD THIS YEAR. Dispute it. The best of the top 4 seeds road wins is? UF beating WKU in Vegas?!? WOW!

I think it's funny how all the Bama fans are saying no team should go from the West just because they aren't going.
We aren't saying that b/c of Alabama being in the toilet. At least I'm not. I'm saying it because outside of beating Alabama when they were ranked, none of the SEC West teams have done anything worth talking about OOC. When you're sitting at 8-8, 7-9 in conference play, you NEED a couple of big OOC wins to get you off the bubble.
SI.com - Writers - Stewart Mandel: Breaking down the bubble with less than a week remaining - Monday March 5, 2007 1:10PM (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/stewart_mandel/03/05/bubble.watch/index.html)
He's got Arky as the only SEC West team in. Alabama is just off the bubble and Ole Miss and Miss. State are nowhere to be seen. I'm not saying the other teams in the West are bad, hell, most of you guys have beaten our asses this year, but there just isn't much there. I've said this before that even if Ole Miss/MSU win the West, it doesn't guarantee a NCAA bid.

What are you like a closet SEC hater, do you jerk off to other conferences stats? I would love to see some of the top teams from the other conferences come and play in the SEC when on Saturday they play MSU, Wed. Vanderbilt, Saturday Alabama, Wed. Florida, and so on and so on, I don't see any of those teams even surviving the four I just mentioined going better than 2-2. The reason the SEC is so good is because every team no matter who they are in the SEC knows that they have to get up for every single game in the SEC, there is no easy win, don't believe me then just ask Florida. They went on cruise control and lost 3 out of their last 4.

Thank You MSU Bully. You have proven the point that no one can argue that the conference is good this year. IT'S A DOWN YEAR! I am a big SEC guy. That being siad I am tired of weak non-conf. schedules. Kentucky, Bama and Arkansas at least played real teams on the road or on neutral sites.
You'll see me on the football site bitching about the mass amount of 1aa and sunbelt games on the schedule there. The SEC ADs are pussing out. I want a better conference like the 70's 80's and 90's.

Granted some SEC teams may have had a cupcake schedule, but what about Florida playing Ohio State, or LSU playing at Washington, and playing Texas, Tennessee played Memphis, Georgia played Gonzaga, MSU played on the road at Clemson and Missouri and George Mason. It is impossible to argue with you cause you have no idea what you are talking about. This is one of the best years as far as playing out of conference opponents for the SEC I can ever remember. I guess that's why our conference has the highest RPI rating. Please just admit it to me and everyone, YOU JUST GOT OWNED

MSUBUlly you'll own me when you can name a marquee road win for MSU, UT, Vandy, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss or Florida this year:
Non Conf Road wins:
Alabama: MTSU (#156) Neutral, Iowa (#84) Neutral, Xavier (#32) Neutral, NC State (#114) Road
Auburn: None
Arkansas: So. Illinois (#6) Neutral, Marist (#108) Neutral, WVU (#57) Neutral
Florida: W. Kentucky (#96) Neutral
Georgia: Wake Forest (#124) Road
Kentucky: DePaul (#63) Neutral, Louisville (#40) Road,

MSU: Miami (#164) Road
UT: Louisianna Laf. (#269) Neutral
Vandy: Ten. Tech (#143) Neutral, Puerto Rico Magauyez (NR)
I am waiting. Losing on the road is not impressive. And Non-conf home wins are expected YOUR AT HOME.

I am responding to your point the SEC is THE BEST. But let's take the four in the big east since you think they are the weakest:
Georgetown: Vanderbilt (#34) Road, Fairfield (#205) Road and Michigan (#51) Road
Louisville: None
Pitt: Western Michigan (#142) Neutral, Auburn (#105) Road and Buffalo (#232) Road
Notre Dame: Lafayette (#234) Neutral and Maryland (#12) Road
Not enough for you.... let's try the Big 10
Ohio State: Cincinatti (#171) Neutral (I personally hate people chirpping about OSU. I don't think they are good for this reason)
Wisconsin: Auburn (#105) Neutral, Marquette (#23) Road and Georgia (#65) Road
Indiana: Lafayette (#234) Neutral and IUPUI (#210) Neutral (WEAK!!!)
Illinois: Miami of Oh. (#118) Neutral, Bradley (#43) Neutral, IUChicago (#161) Neutral and Missouri (#78) Neutral
Top 100 RPI Road/Neutral wins by the three conferences top 4 teams:
SEC: 1
Big East: 3
Big 11: 4

Let me go ahead now that I have time and give you the Pac 10, ACC and MVC.
Pac 10
UCLA: Chaminade (NR) Road, Kentucky (#11) Neutral and Ga. Tech (#34) Neutral
WSU: UAB (#126) Neutral, Wisc. Mil. (#234) Road, Radford (#319) Neutral and Idaho (#307) Road
Arizona: Louisville (#41) Neutral and San Diego St. (#54) Road
Oregon: Rice (#177) Road and Georgetown (#17) Road
ACC:
UNC: Winthrop (#69) Neutral, Tennessee (#8) Neutral, St. Louis (#81) Road and Arizona (#13) Road
Virginia: Puerto Rico Magauyez (NR) Road
Maryland: St. John's (#129) Road, Michigan State (#22) Neutral and Illinois (#35) Road
Va. Tech: Montana (#219) Neutral, Steon Hall (#150) Road and UNC Greensboro (#219) Road
MVC:
So. Illinois: Minnesota (#179) Neutral, Va Tech (#27) Neutral, La. Tech (#190) Road, Western Kentucky (#96) Road and St. Mary's (#152) Road
Creighton: Valpo (#162) Neutral and Houston (#95) Neutral
Missouri State: Wisconsin (#4) Neutral, UNC Wilmington (#269) Road and So. Fla (#187) Road
Bradley: Iowa St. (#128) Road
So final Tally of top 100 road/neutral wins:
SEC: 1 win
Big East: 3 wins

ACC: 6 wins
