List in order the elite (not easiest) jobs in the SEC for basketball:
#1. Hands down Univ. of Kentucky. (It's there with UNC, Kansas and UCLA)
#2. LSU (The base of recruits for East Tx, NO and So. Miss or So. AL plus history)
#3. Alabama (Call me a homer but they have the 2nd most SEC titles and recruits from Memphis, Miss, Mobile and Alabama really file in)
#4, Florida (Another title this year and it will jump Bama. It just doesn't have the history and it will not trump football)
#5. Vanderbilt (It is the only team bigger than their football besides UK plus Nashville, Ky. and Memphis help recruit)
#6. Arkansas (I know they have the Nolan years. BUT, it hasn't been that great as of late.
#7. UGA (I can't believe I slotted them here. With Atlanta near I would think this team would dominate. I guess Ga. Tech has the better program slowing them)
#8. MSU (Great program)
#9. UT
#10. Miss
#11. Auburn
#12.South Carolina (Trapped in ACC country. Tough to out do those schools)

LSU and Bama ahead of Florida? That's funny. Now UK is arguable. Depends on if you are saying "which is the best job right now?".....The Gators have top-notch facilities, endless recruiting bases, SEC Titles, a National Title and great fan support. I'd say, UK, UF, LSU, Bama, and so on.

Only Elite job in the SEC is Kentucky.
However ranking teams based on desirability of jobs......I'll give it a go.
1. UK - Tradition
2. UF - Billy Donovan isn't going anywhere, but he's building a program
3. UT - With the women's program the way it is, there's a lot of b-ball support
4. LSU/Vandy - Both schools have more history than the rest below
5. Bama/MSU - Pretty even here with past successes, Bama probably slightly ahead
6. Arkansas - It's wierd putting them here, because they won a Nat'l Championship not too long ago, but they fit here.
7. Put the rest of the schools in a lump here. I'm no homer, if it wasn't for Mamadou, Doc, and Chris Porter I'd have us dead last.

Well done...I forgot about UT....;)

I only put Bama and LSU over UF because UF is a as of late entry.

That list might be changing come next year. We have some top notch transfers and recruits coming in this year.

All you have to do is read the reply and know this is a South Carolina fan.
However this is the first time I've seen it outside of a Football thread.

You're asking what ARE the elite jobs, not what WERE the elite jobs. UK will always be at the top. But, as for being a recent entry, that's why UF is an elite job. I'd say 2nd only to UK. We've made the NCAA tourney the last 8 years in a row. We've been to the Final Four twice and the NC game twice, winning it once. UA has only been as far as the Elite 8, and only once. UA may have been a more desirable job 10 or 15 years ago, but UF is the program with the resume` now.

Ay no need of laughing not like your team is all that great as well. Granted they are better than USC... that is nothing to brag about. We have transfers coming in from Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Cincy and those guys were all Mr. Basketball in the state of South Carolina in their respective year. They have talent and we are also brining in 1 Rivals 150 recruit and another recruit who is just outside the Rivals 150.

With what Billy has done in the last 10 years, Florida has to be considered an elite job in NCAABB. Florida is no longer "just" a football school, even though, to a very large degree, it never was "just" a football school (i.e., the Sears Trophy results, etc.).
I'd still put UK above UF, though. They're one of the top 4-5 programs of all time in basketball (UCLA, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, probably Indiana).

Agreed, GN. UK is one of the best jobs "of all time."
But, where would you rather coach? There's a lot of pressure to do well in Lexington. It's pretty much the only sport the Cats are competitive in. If you were an unbiased coach...would you rather coach a team that is expected to win every game and go deep in the tournament every year or your job is in jeopardy, or would you rather coach a team that, for historical purposes, is "up and coming" for the past 15-20 years....a team at a school where the AD has made a commitment to the sports program, that every team will be competitive...that can potentially bring home a National Title in any sport. Florida is a unique situation...you can recruit great talent...and if you have a "hiccup" year or two...there's other teams that can take the "spotlight" off of you.

Defending SEC baseball champs, and while 8 wins isnt a National championship, its definitely "competing" in football, esp in the SEC.

No offense...that statement I made "came out wrong"...what I meant was, on a National Stage...basketball is the only sport UK will contend for a NC in. Baseball is definitely coming along for the Cats...and football is definitely improving...but the Cats "bread-n-butter" has always been basketball...or at least, since I've been drawing breath....34 years.
