Here is a little fact I posted in the Trash talk forum that should go here...
Which Team should go in the tourny out of the four:
Team A: RPI 39 SOS 49 (Highest Rated Non Conf. Wins: #33 Xavier, #89 Iowa and #113 N. Car. St. all on the road NOT HOME)
Team B: RPI 64 SOS 63 (#123 So. Al, #136 Ten. Tech and #161 Illinois of CHicago all at home)
Team C: RPI 67 SOS 38 (#104, Texas A&M Corpus Chris, #123 So. Alabama and #158 Miami Fl. all at home)
Team D: RPI 101 SOS 43 (#118 E. Tenn. State, #123 So. Alabama and #192 Louisianna Monroe all at home.)

Team A only right now. But it all depends on how the SEC Tourney goes. Honestly I only see 1 team from the west making it into the dance because of the strength of the SEC East. I don't see us getting 6 teams in this year, and if B, C, or D makes a strong run in the SEC Tourney I can see them getting the nod over Team A.

Sounds like a homer vote to me......
What about Team C, because they owned Team D who owned Team A this year?
Does this get me on your "Auburn Haters List"?

I think it would be really pathetic if Team A lost to Team D.. if they lost to them twice and one of those losses being at home, I would just disband Team A and tear down the stadium.

I take it "team A" is not one of your favorites?

Team A's great road wins are really an early season tournament in the Virgin Islands. I'm sure there were a lot of Xavier and Iowa fans down there. Way to try to spin that one. And team A's strenght of schedule is 3rd among the four teams on this list that is compiled by a bias team A fan. But team A's rpi will drop when they lose to team C on sunday, giving team C the 1 seed in the torunament, and making it virtually impossible, barring a run in the sec tourament, for team a to make the ncaa torunament.

Wow, good job showing your behind there. "A bias team A fan"? Do you think he really went to the trouble of making Alabama look better by compiling all these numbers? No offense, but I doubt he knows the exact formula and how to compute it.

First of all Team C, MSU, beat Miami at Miami, second of all Pharm Dawg is right your best wins came at an early season tourney held in the Virgin Islands, not exactly a tough road environment. If, and notice I said if, MSU beats team A, Alabama, on Sunday and does better than them in the SEC Tourney then I don't think anyone from the West, unless either of these teams wins the tourney, will go to the NCAA tournament. MSU had the best shot late in the season but the last two losses to Georgia, and Arkansas sealed our fate we know we have to win the tourney to go. Alabama doesn't have a shot either unless they beat MSU and at least makes the championship game in the tourney.

My problem is, I don't see how you send a 17-11, 17-12, and 17-12 Alabama teams to the NCAA tourney and possibly send a 20-11 Alabama team to the NIT. A win sunday Bama would be 21-9 and should be in regardless of SEC tourney if you put all those other Bama teams in, IMO.

That may be true, but if you don't win on Sunday, and State does better than Bama in the SEC tourney, Alabama will not go to the NCAA tournament, Bama hasn't even won the West, the voters will look at that above ya'lls record.

IF Bama loses on Sunday it is a very good possiblity that no team from the West will go. Unless someone wins the SEC tourney, that's all I was trying to say.

If Alabama doesn't win Sunday, then they aren't in the tourney unless they win the SEC Tourney. They won't do that. I don't believe that winning your division plays into it that much.

It really doesn't matter if any of these teams make it.. if Team A does make it, they will just a be a warm-up punching bag for some decent team, and they will be one and done.

If bama loses tomorrow then they would have to at least get to the semi's of the conference tourny, that would be three more wins and means they would have beaten a team from the east with a fairly high rpi. If they win on Sunday I think they pretty much lock up a bid. As for any of the other three in the west they have to do what I said first, because that is the only way they can get close to that magical 20 win mark.

I disagree with you Blake, it may just be the SEC homer in me but I still think the SEC is the best conference in the nation, and I think that any of the four teams mentioned could do well in the tournament if they play to their potential. I don't buy all the "sports guru's" comments on how the SEC is down this year, I just think that the league is much more competitive this year, hence the records of everyone. You have an SEC team in Florida that destroyed the BIG 10 champ, Kentucky defeated on of the big east big guns in Louisville, Tennessee stomped Memphis, LSU beat Texas, there are several teams in the SEC that if were in other conferences would mop the floor with the competition. I know MSU didn't fare very well against out of conference competition, but at the time we were a young team trying to find our identity, and we still barely lost all of those games. I fully believe if we played them now it would be a different story, for those of you who don't know I'm talking about tournament bound teams Missouri and Clemson. And it may just be that you just don't want your rival Alabama to do well and I understand but I think the SEC will do exactly what they did last year and surprise the Hell out of everyone.

Agreed. The reason we have so many teams on the bubble is the great parity in the conference. Any team can beat any of the other teams on any given night. I don't know which sport's gurus you're referring to, but many of the ones I've listened to think the SEC is still a dominant conference, and say the evidence is the way the teams beat up on each other. The only reason it may be down from last year is because: 1. LSU was in the Final Four last year, and won't make the tourney this year. 2. UK hasn't been as impressive as they should be. 3. Bama hasn't lived up to the preseason hype.
I think we'll still be impressive vs. other conferences because of our tough in conference schedule. It's beginning to mirror football in that respect.

Most of the taking heads say that The Big East, or the ACC are the powerhouse leagues in the nation. This is because they like to have a few teams that have 12-4 records battling it out for the number one spot in the conference, because it makes for good talk, tv ratings, whatever. But in the SEC there isn't a single team that week in and week out is a guarantee'd loss. The SEC is so even that the last place team in the lowly west can beat the mighty Florida gators, and South carolina can beat mississippi state at home and beat them. Most of the prognosticators will just look at the records and count this as a down year for the sec when in fact it will probably be like this for a long time. The sec is just too good for it's own good.
