I know that there'll probably won't be too many Gator members posting to this thread, but I felt it should be created.
Right now, the Vols are taking the Gators to the back of the woodshed, and are on their way to doubling up the score on Florida.

We have got to stop coming out so slowly, especially when we are playing away like this.

50-31 Tenn at the half.
when was the last time Florida had 100 points scored on them?

All I can say is that I hope UT beefed up security tonight.
Congrats Vols your 20 mins away from a big win.:brick:
Im going to bed now Ive been sick all day long and watching this game is making things worse.
Goodnight everyone and have fun watching Florida self destruct.

UK beat Florida 100-76 in '96....but surely someone's done it since then. Anyway...UT isn't gonna put up that many. Florida will make it a game in the second half (unfortunately.) Good luck to the Vols in the second half. What did Summitt do, or has she pulled out her surprise yet?

I have trouble seeing us get back into this one. I'm worried about this team. We're starting to trend towards getting behind early and relying on a big second half to beat teams. That won't happen against the better teams, which worries me for the SEC Tourney and the NCAA Tourney.

The Gators have given up...they won the SEC outright, now, they appear to be happy going into the tournament as a 2, possibly 3 seed. Sad that they aren't as hungry as last year. I don't look for a repeat at all...just hope it's not one and done.
Lacene, I don't know a Gator here that is "ashamed" to post when our teams are doing badly, as you've implied. You always seem to be the resident "hater" when the Gators are concerned. Considering who you root for...that's understandable.

Now you guys know how UK fans feel about their team. Complacency and laziness breed unrest.

This has been goin' on for a few weeks now...the Gators started this "trend" by getting behind in the first half through stupid turn-overs and poor shooting...now, the trend encompasses the entire game. These guys are in a rut...at the worst possible time of the season. If it hadn't been for a game vs that "hapless" bunch from SC, UF would probably be lookin' at 3-4 losses in a row.

Certainly a disappointing night for the Gators. Hopefully this will be the final straw with Donovan and he will chew their @ss*s out and get some better results.

May as well finish the thought.....If it hadn't been for a game vs that "hapless" bunch from SC, coached by a "hapless" worthless coach, UF would probably be lookin' at 3-4 losses in a row.

This game isn't over. They've cut the lead in half. And it's just like the commentators were saying, " The Gators lost 3 in a row at this time last year, and it turned out pretty good for them."

well, a great game for the Volunteers roundball club, and a great win. I also have to commend the Florida Gators, for refusing to lay down to a superior opponent tonight. They almost made the game interesting there at the end.
One positive that can be taken from this decisive loss: maybe it will serve as a wake-up call for the defending NC's.......
just like the LSU game......
and the Vandy contest....

Why GatorHunter, I'm shocked that you would consider me a "hater". I prefer to consider myself simply as a presenter of an alternative point of view. I don't "hate" any opposing SEC team....I just don't "love" them as much as others here may.....
There's only one true resident "hater" on this site, you know. Speaking of which, where is ole' shk999??

much better than Florida tonight: we didn't have to listen to Pat Summit sing "Rocky Top" in a cheerleader's miniskirt, or watch the Prodigal Son sit in the stands and smirk all night, while we got our jerseys handed to us. I sure don't envy the Gators tonight.......

I thought the Gators showed a lot of meddle in the second half. They were down by 27, and cut it to 10 at the end. UT played a great game, and showed how much it meant to them. I thought it was funny for ol' Peyton to be there. He had to watch somebody beat UF. If the Gators can just start a game with the same enthusiasm as they played with in the second half, they'll be back to their winning ways. UK comes to Gainesville to wrap up the season; and we're undefeated at home. A win at home would be a nice way to go into the SEC tourney. As for lacene, and his ridiculous comments; UF could lose all their FB and BB games for the next 5 years, and I wouldn't be as ashamed as I would be if I were a USC fan. Talk about pathetic teams that need a wake-up call. They're the only ones who couldn't pull the upset during UF's down period.:brick: In case anyone's forgotten, UF has already won the SEC in FB and BB. So, until someone unseats us, we've got the bragging rights. It's pretty sad that lacene's team is so bad that he's reduced to rooting against UF, as opposed to rooting for his "team". Nice try with that presenting an opposing view BS. Stevie Wonder could see through that. The snide remarks are always against UF. I haven't read any opposing views in reference to games the Gators won. I'm going to have to rename him lagreen with envy. I take comfort in the thought that no matter how good they get, they won't have accomplished what the Gators have in his lifetime. Keep wallowing in self-pity, lagreen; seeing you resort to supporting whoever's playing Florida only confirms what I already suspected. You can't even stand your own school, and are forced to cheer for the ones that can compete with us. Congratulations on a great BB season.:glare: How's that for an opposing point of view?

I actually thought the Gators showed mettle in the second half tonight, but I can see your point: they were meddlesome to the Vols, for a few minutes there.
I'm just having fun with you guys: what's so fun about kicking an opposing SEC school, unless they're down, first? But while I agree that SC's basketball program sucks right now, you're wrong about me not rooting for my team, as I've posted game threads for both our baseball and basketball teams. Despite the struggles that SC's various athletic programs may/may not be going through, I am and always will be a proud Gamecock! http://www.sectalk.com/boards/images/icons/southcarolina.gif

Witty response. A spelling error and a lame attempt at a name change. Regarding spelling and grammatical errors, this is pretty bad:

3. honor, (unless your suddenly British)

As far as doing some thinking on GH's new name, that sounds dangerous. It's safe to say thinking isn't your strong suit. You better stick to hating. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hey, thanks, gatorrunningsquirts! It's great to know that you have my back!
But I somehow get the feeling that you're taking this a little too hard, or have been taking posting tips from shk999. Lighten up: it's all in good, wholesome family fun. I have congratulated you guys in the past for your successes, and I hope to be able to give a little good-natured ribbing when you struggle, just as I hope to with other SEC teams. SC certainly have gotten their fair share of ribbing from you Gator fans, so I think it's all good. Now, if you were a Clemson fan, things would be different: I reserve whatever "hate" I can represent on the internet for them.
You do realise that the Gators run of good luck had to come to an end sometime, don't you? It may not be today, or this year, but maybe it will. And if they continue to succeed, then I have to pick and choose my shots the best I can. Last night was one of those.
So, let's bury the hatchet, gatorrunningsquirts, and be friends. Oh, and please keep those spelling corections comming, OK budy?

Great game, UT. I think everyone knew it was going to be a very tough game with Lofton back.
I just hope we can get out of this hole in which we seem to have fallen.
The guys really look bad lately....not hustling, watching players drive to the basket. I hope it's complacency, but I don't know....
If they don't get it up for Kentucky, then I'll really start to worry.

Yeah, those were a little too obvious.:closedeye Burying the hatchet is fine. And, I guess it's somewhat complimentary that most of the smack-talk is directed at us because of our recent success. Since all we'll have is baseball season to focus on, soon; and the tables will be turned, I hope you won't mind this "good-natured ribbing" surfacing on the rare occasions y'all lose. In any event, I figured you'd have been commenting more on UT's success than UF's failure. That said, I hope we don't give anyone "insult ammunition" throughout the tourney.

Takes more than luck to win National Championships...it's certainly involved...but so is great coaching and great players...which the Gators have both in football and basketball. I don't think the Gators have been "luckier" than anyone, they just play harder/better...up until the past month at least. I "realize" that...;)
