Man, that sucks for UK basketball. But, I don't know, maybe this is good news for the football program. Hopefully folks in Lexington will realize there are other sports that aren't played on the hardwood that Kentucky can excel at.

At first I was a bit skeptical, but after a few minutes of listening this guy is golden. I love this. My only thought is, do you think Tubby secretly sits in his house at 3 am with a gallon of Rocky Road listening to this guy? It's a strange digital world in which we live.

Folks really dont realize how much people in Kentucky DO love football.

UKAT, I AM A HUGE UK FOOTBALL FAN. I used to work for the flagship radio station selling the cats and I loved my years with Mumme and Morris. Anyone who has a knowledge of attendence in the SEC knows UK is usually a top 20 team yet the play is bottom 20.

If UK would win in football consistently.... they would forget bball. I know most think that is crazy but, it's true. The state produces more football talent the basketball on the high school level. Also, having three 1a teams in state helps.

We do rank in the Top 30 in attendance nationally every year. Commonwealth becomes the third largest city in the state every Saturday. I'm just jaded about football because I grew up watching UK and the Bengals...lol, c'mon now.

It was more intended from a university perspective. Particularly more emphasis on the football program, facilities, and doing anything else it can to help recruiting.

Particularly more emphasis on the football program, facilities, and doing anything else it can to help recruiting.I can agree with you on the school........as far as facilities UK's are second to none. They have as good of fball facilities as anyone in the nation. Do a little research on that.

I will say their facilities are pretty darn good. If they can put 3 bowl seasons in a row.... watch out.

it's really funny to see someone that old using the internet as a medium to bitch and whine about a few off seasons. Most people his age realize that nobody cares about your opinion. Usually it's just the teens that think they are so important that somebody must care about their views.
That intro is priceless.

Wildcat fans have a long history of hating their basketball coach. They despised Rupp until they buried him.

They LOVED Rick Pitino and Joe B. Hall.

They LOVED Rick Pitino and Joe B. Hall.

Um, no.

Pitino was a "love him or hate him" guy and yes, 98% loved him. The 2% who didn't were people close to the program in some fashion who couldn't bear him behind the scenes. Take the most arrogant person you've ever met, multiply that person by 20, and you have half a Pitino. I'll admit that pretty much 100% appreciated the results though.

Joe B.? Not so much. His situation was quite similar to Tubby's. He won his title fairly early in his career and then was perceived to be an underachiever from 1979 on, despite having what fans saw as national championship-caliber talent most years. Lord, I remember the "Joe must go" chants and also the complaints from his supporters that he wasn't appreciated properly, much like Tubby today.

Years later, Joe B. is seen differently by many, most notably a younger generation who weren't around when he coached. He's now a pleasant, entertaining and very colloquial radio show host. He's far more appreciated 20 years later.

The difference in Hall and Tubby is clear though. Hall's problem came from fans feeling his teams underachieved despite having great talent. Tubby's not bringing in a lot of talent, and it makes us fear the program is truly declining.

Well, I was one who was around Pitino and I loved him. He went out of his way to help us with the radio network... (But then again we had a microphone).

I am listening to Joe's show (A Wimp and Sonny knock off) it is Horrid. But it's entertaining to here the old coots bitch and moan.

My real point is I don't think anyone HATED Hall or Pitino like they do Smith or Sutton.

They LOVED Rick Pitino and Joe B. Hall.

If my memory serves me correctly, Joe B Hall was always on the hot seat. And UK loved Pitino so much, he jumped at his first chance. Rick wasn't a favorite son and he knew it.

Pitino had other chances before then. You have to remember it was the Boston Celtics (where he from) Total control over everything and 70 million. Bear Bryant would of left Bama for that.
