Don't jump over to the Windows Operating System "VISTA" that recently became available for purchase just yet. It seems the system has lots of problems when installed on older computers.

Also...
There are 4 versions of the new Vista operating system, and the one called Vista home basic is the cheapest version. It is no better than XP which you probably are running now.

Many of the programs you are now running will not work with Vista.
Also, many printers or scanners will not work.

Of course Vista doesn't work as well on older computers. Just like Windows XP didn't work well on older computers.

To put it simply-don't buy it. The only difference I've seen is graphical and its really not that great in that department.

If you're buying a new computer right now, be sure to look at the processor's chipset and make sure its 64-bit if you want Vista. My friend just bought a new comp. with (I believe) a 3.6 ghz CPU that happens to be 32-bit and it is the slowest thing I've ever seen. I would not recommend it right now at all.

If your friend bought a 3.6ghz CPU, he is about 2 years behind in technology. Clock speeds are going down as cores are going up, not to mention 64-bit CPUs have been out for three years now.
