Too funny not to share...or maybe it's just funnier to me because there are a ton of Cubs fans up here, I don't know.

Everybody's seen this: it's the German kid who flips out and tears up his keyboard while shrieking incoherently. I don't think anybody ever knew what he said.

Until now, that is: some kind-hearted scholar has "translated" the video, and it turns out our German friend is merely following the Chicago Cubs' offseason moves.

German kid freaking out at computer (translated with subtitles!) (http://www.withleather.com/post.phtml?pk=1796)

You know what's weird? When I saw this without subtitles a few months back, I really thought that this kid's reaction to some geeky Internet-related some-such was freakish and insane. But placed in the context of sports fanhood, I can totally relate. This is precisely how I feel about the Mariners retaining Mike Hargrove and trading their best young hitter for a washed-up middle infielder.

NOTE: Quite a few expletives in the subtitles though you'll never hear them unless you can understand German...

This has to be staged, I'm no computer experct but when he rips the keyboard and its connecting wire from the pc and then just puts it back without reattaching the keyboard and is able to type that seems odd to me.

 That was hilarious. The Cubs have been losing for so long... trying to fix up their team with band-aids here and there. They're going to either need new ownership and start from scratch, or a huge infusion of money to get where all the fans want them to be. They'll have to go on a shopping spree like the Marlins did, if they want to be competetive again. That's one reason I'm not much of a pro baseball fan, anymore. Without a salary cap, the same teams buy their way into the post-season every year. It doesn't always work out that way, but teams just aren't starting out on an even playing field when the Yankees can spend 2 or 3 times as much money on all the best players. I also hate never knowing who's playing for who. Back in the day, you always knew who your team was. Players honored their word and contracts. Now, players demand a new contract every time they see a player with similar stats get more money than them. Players used to be attached to their city and fans. All they're attached to, now, is money. There is no city or team pride and loyalty. After Glavine left Atlanta for not that much more money, I was done. I thought he'd be an exception to the greed. I haven't watched a pro baseball game since. And, whether MLB realizes it or not, there are a lot of us out there who've given up on baseball.
