When you hear the 'Tigers', who comes to mind first, Auburn or LSU? Geaux and I seem to be at a disagreement here
Personaly, I consider LSU the 'Bengal Tigers'. What do you guys think? I won't even consider votes from Auburn/LSU fans as it's obvious we are biased.

What, I thought it was the "LSU Corndogs". Learn something everyday I guess.

It's obvious that Clemson isn't the real Tiger or has the real Death Valley. Nice job narrowing it to the SEC Tigers only.

I always considered LSU to be the "tigahs" or "corndogs" but not tigers.

Both programs have alot to bring the table. Last falls game was a defensive blockbuster that even though AU won, it left Cox, Irons and others with injuries that seemed to nag them the rest of the season. The AU/LSU has become one of, if not the most important games in the west. With the Mississippi schools down, as well as sorry a$$ Bama, its clear the west runs through Jordan Hare, Baton Rouge and Arky. I dont see that changing for a while.

For some reason, i never really even remember who Auburn's mascot is.
But considering the rivalry between Ark and LSU (at least on this side of the border) I always think of the LSU when someone mentions the Tigers.

Time's up...
It was William Tecumseh Sherman!!
Danged Yankees!
from Wikipedia:
n 1859 Sherman accepted a job as the first superintendent of the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy in Pineville, a position offered to him by Major D.C. Buell and General G. Mason Graham.[15] He proved an effective and popular leader of that institution, which would later become Louisiana State University (LSU).

Kind of a silly poll seeing as both schools' mascots are Tigers but since Auburn insists on going the dual-mascot route with War Damn Eagle or whatever, I'll give my vote to LSU. They have the real Death Valley, may as well give them the real Tiger too. http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/think/30.gif

Auburn was established first, and played their first football game before LSU. I guess because LSU's nickname comes from a civil war group of fighters, it just means they didn't copy Auburn. The SEC wasn't even formed until 1932.

This is true. I was actually going to say that, but wanted to see if someone else had posted it first.

My dad went to Mizzou and my brother went to Memphis State. I don't give Memphis credit. It only took those idiots 75 years to figure out Memphis isn't a State. Mizzou gets credit for having the longest continuously running Card section in College Football.

Then you have call us USC and call Southern Cal, Southern Cal. We were a university about 50 years before California was a state.

That's true. But, when you're talking about athletics, people just naturally assume you mean S. Cal when using USC. South Carolina dwelled in relative obscurity before joining the SEC in '94. I don't think I ever even heard or read anything about their football team before then. In terms of athletics, it's going to take me awhile to get accustomed to calling South Carolina USC, over a team that's won 10 NC's in football, alone.

Haha thats a great point on the dual-mascot route part. I voted for LSU too.
