I'm going to be sick!
Thats a good article. Nothing that he said was false. Its freezing up here and very cold. tOSU is in the middle of columbus and really does have a urban feel to it. Our campus isn't really that trashy though. We still have one of the best atmospheres in CFB on gameday. Yeah, I know we don't have all the girls running around in Bikinis but there is some nice scenery up here. Wonder what kind of uprising he got for putting that in the school newspaper!

Reminds me of the song, Gator Country, by Molly Hatchet. Once you get a little taste of the flavor, it's hard to leave; and even harder to not daydream about going back. There are a lot of great places in the South, but, like the song says: there's a gator in the bushes...keeps calling my name...he says,"Come on, boy, you better make it back home again." Man, now I'm  all of a sudden. Homesick.

I've always been a Gator...here in the panhandle of Florida...most are either Gators or Noles...a few Bama and Auburn fans...but mostly UF or f$u. Anyway, throughout the late '80s we were on probation...couldn't play on TV...had an SEC Title stripped...meanwhile, the school that we had "owned" since it's birth, f$u, was picking up steam...startin' to make a run. They did it the right way, I have to admit...they played anybody, anywhere. So, until I graduated in '90, for 3 years prior, all I heard was "nole this and nole that"...anyway, I went to UF...and lost touch with most of these "nole friends". Later, when I had come home for a visit...I found out 3 of them had been accepted into UF and were attending school in Gainesville. A few months later, I ran into them at a HS football game, all were decked out in Gator Gear...it was hilarious! They had went to a few games a caught the fever! Spurrier was the "new coach" and the Gators were kickin' arse.....I'm friends with these folks to this day...I watched the NC game with one of them...it's funny...I've met several Gators that have attended f$u...they're still Gators. I've never met a nole that attended UF that is still a nole, though.

There is no way an tOSU fan would attend Michigan, let alone become a Wolverweasel fan.

The only Gator fans that I've known that attended f$u did so based on a "have to" basis. The University of Florida started a "satelite" medical school at f$u 10 or so years ago. UF started the school based on the need to get more doctors practicing in the panhandle of Florida. So, several friends of mine who couldn't "get into" medical school at UF, attended this program...it's called the "PIMS" program...not sure what the acronym stands for.

It's not quite the same when your rival is in the same state. My father went to UF for undergraduate studies, and majored in English. But, then he wanted to study physics; and ended up going to F$U because they were working with NASA, and he helped design guidance systems for the fledgling space program. He met my mother there, and I was born in Tallahassee. Even long after F$U went co-ed, it was still considered the girls' school. After he got a minor in physics, he came back to UF to get a PhD in English, while Mom got her master's in history there, too. I only lived in Tallahassee for a year and grew up in Gainesville. People used to attend both schools depending on what they wanted to major in. Since then, however, UF offers the premier programs in all subjects. F$U isn't considered the preferred university for any vocation that I can think of. My parents tell me that even then, Tallahassee was a filthy dump of a city compared to the homey feel of Gainesville. It's like inner city Miami without South Beach, money, and celebrities to take your mind off the depressive setting.

Im with you gatorunv. I hate this cold weather we have been having. And we dont even really have it all that bad. Im a warm weather person. period. I want to live anywhere between Jacksonville and St. Augustine on the Atlantic coast. On the Gulf coast I would like to live anywhere between P. C. and Tampa.
Gainesville would be nice too though:happy:
One day I hope I can pry the wife away from Atlanta so that I may return to heaven, I mean Florida, where my heart stays 24/7:thumpsup:
