True enough. I like frequenting this site. Its really broadened my knowledge of other SEC teams. Not to mention it gives me different peoples perspectives on alot of different topics.
Add that to the fact that there are alot of classy people here who have a good sense of humor. This place is sorta like an escape for me. (I mean my wife isnt exactly a sports freak like me)
Thats why I feel at home here.

Hey, this may (will) sound stupid, but, these poster of the month things--are they for people who post the most, or post the best? I mean, I don't care about awards or anything*, but it's pretty easy just to type a bunch of crap just to hear yourself, whereas it takes skill and deft of pen to write something serious and thoughtful.
I realize that last line wasn't very skillful, I just wanted an excuse to personify a writing utensil with the attribute of nimbleness.

*I do.

There's a process of being nominated, and then the SECTalk community votes on the poster who they think deserves the award.

That's the usual procedure....and I forgot who does that. Neo? It's been a while since I saw one of those....

let's get it started then:

Post ONE nomination for POTM. We'll let it go for, say, one more week; we'll tally the nominations and set up a general poll.

I'm going to go out on a limb with my nomination(s):

KillerNut and shk999 (tie)

Humble stance...but well-deserved, imo. Almost 3,000 posts, well-liked by the community (even by bama fans, which says a LOT), contributing and insightful member of the board...kind of a no-brainer if you ask me. Most members know who the valuable poster are...

I threw in some more names because I want to make sure some of the key people don't get overlooked, which often happens. And just for everyone's FYI, you can keep getting nominated even if you don't win. So, it's not a one-and-done thing....

We'll stop at 7 days or when we have a strong list of 15 names, whichever comes first.

Yeah, the crack I made is no longer relevent as we have the same number of bars now (though I'm at 669 points and didn't get a bar for 600, not sure what's up with that).

I made that post back when Shk was relatively knew here, and if you'll excuse me for saying this, was a complete troll and a flamer. He's calmed down now (as have I) and his rep points reflect that. I really have no problems what so ever with him at this point. He's developed into a good poster, but still takes the occasional shot at the Barn.

Once you get to a certain point, it takes 200 additional points to add a bar. Then 300 more at some point, etc.

OK. I can see where that would get on your nerves. We have to deal with the same type of problem with some folks around here in Alabama. We call it "Detached from Reality Syndrome" or DRS. So far there is no hope for a cure. Here are some of the main symptoms..

1. Tendency toward wearing too much red clothing
2. Obsession with the number 12
3. Wearing anything "houndstooth" 40 years after it's gone out of style.

BTW. Before any of my Bamma buddies get bent.... lighten up, it's just a joke!

I think they just come home on the weekends. It's about an hour and 45 minute drive. I would have my wife find out more about them but there is the whole looking like the sick old perv thing that's holding me back.:laugh:But I do speak to them whenever I run across them.
