We've been through this before: LSU football Coach Les Miles has been mentioned online and in an Associated Press article as a possible candidate to become the new coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Miles, who has a record of 22-4 in two seasons as the Tigers' coach, was an assistant with the Cowboys from 1998 to 2000. However, Mickey Spagnola, a columnist for Dallas Cowboys.com, (http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?editorialAuthor=1&id=51CA8D59-A218-76EC-68E78A6065DEFB16)an NFL-sponsored Web site, brushed off the Miles rumors. "I'm not sure three years of NFL experience as a tight ends coach qualifies him to run the show," Spagnola wrote. "Really nice college coach, but let's not push the issue here." Miles isn't the only name being discussed -- about a dozen other coaches are rumored to be candidates, from Houston Nutt of Arkansas and Charlie Weiss of Notre Dame, to Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears and Norv Turner, the former coach of the Washington Redskins and the Oakland Raiders.
Dandy Don had this to say...
The first thing I want to write about is the rumor that the Dallas Cowboys are looking at Les Miles to replace Bill Parcells who resigned Monday night as the head coach of the Cowboys. Les Miles once coached the offensive line for the Cowboys and is a good friend of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, but Coach Miles is very happy as the head coach at LSU and is not ready to coach in the NFL. I hope that the rumor goes away in a hurry because the rumor could affect the remainder of the recruiting class.
