Notre Dame fired Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter for not having sufficient talent to work with as well as his inability to magically make all his defensive players (from the DE's to the safties) run faster.

Minter is replaced by Corwin Brown, 36, who most recently was the NY J-E-T-S, JETS! JETS! JETS! Secondary Coach where he's been since 2004.
I find it an odd choice myself...the Jets have gone from 6th in receiving defense when Brown took over to 19th last year. One thing I did notice in my short info-digging on this guy, the Jets are always near the top of the league when it comes to preventing the big play (20+ & 40+ yard plays) and I'm thinking Weis is remembering some film study from his Patriot days and remembers the Jets secondary as being a good unit (thus, making Brown a good coach..?) but who knows?
Personally, I don't think Minter had the players in place to run the type of D he wanted to run, their blitzes were barely disguised if they were at all, the ND D's overall speed was clearly lacking and they're extremely small up front on D (think their heaviest D-lineman this past year was 285?).
