Good luck if you're man (or woman) enough to join up and try to de-throne a quasi-Yankee from Michigan who dominated this league last year.

WayzUp....I'm in. I don't really follow NASCAR, but I'll keep up to date on changing drivers on a weekly basis and see how I do. That wayz, you'll have someone to laugh at.

Won't be any laughing coming from me. I didn't watch a single race prior to going to USC and being introduced to NASCAR in a friends' parent's garage with a keg-o-rator, TV and grill built into the work bench. Jeff Burton was my favorite back then but he was still driving the black Exide battery car (i think?) so my allegiance changes as I watch & see how they act on the track and off.
For example, I have about as much respect for Tony Stewart as I do for Terrell Owens. The dood can drive, I'll give him that....but take that away and he's just another obnoxious ass who needs some sense beaten into him. :D
I do fantasy nascar just so I have a reason to watch the races on those lazy weekend afternoons when I don't feel like doing squat.

how exactly does it work? do you get points for laps led and where your driver finishes? do you pick different drivers every week? im so totally confused on how Fantasy nascar works.

Go ahead and join. It's new to me as well. I haven't done Fantasy Nascar before, but I'm doing Fantasy Golf now and it's very similar. I'll give you a summary, and let WayzUp fill in the holes after I'm done since he's the expert (been there, done that).
All the NASCAR drivers are broken into 3 groups: A, B, and C. Your team each week will consist of 2 A drivers, 4 B drivers, and 2 C drivers (of your choosing). Before each race, you must select four starting drivers via your Team page. This active group must include one driver from the A List, two from the B List, and one from the C List. While all drivers on your roster are eligible to receive qualifying bonus points, only your activated driver will be able to collect points for the week's race.
One thing to remember, which is very important....Each driver can be an active member of your team in no more than nine races (there are a total of 36 races during the season). Therefore, you can't use the top driver each week or after his 9th start he'll get no more points for you. Yahoo keeps up with the number of starts you've used each driver.
Points are given as follows:
Each driver can receive a maximum of 90 fantasy points during each race. The top 45 finishers receive points, with the winning driver getting the maximum 90, and other drivers receiving 2 fewer points for every spot they finish behind the leader (e.g, the second-place driver gets 88 points, the third-place driver gets 86, etc.).
Bonus points are awarded to each of the drivers with the four best starting positions after qualifying. The top qualifier receives 10 bonus points, the second receives five, the third receives three, and the fourth receives one.
An additional 10 bonus points are awarded to each driver who leads at least one lap during a race. The driver leading the most laps during a race will also earn another 10 bonus points. To earn these bonus points for your fantasy team, a driver must be on your team and active during the race.

It'll take more than Fantasy Nascar to make me watch it. I'd almost rather watch paint dry.

The one thing that I like most about participating in this league is that it makes me pay attention to a lot more of the field and not just who's in the top 3 or top 5. If you have a guy that can get points for you but fixing up the car he just put into a wall enough to get back out there and actually finish, you'll take it.
The only thing to add to GAMECOCK_FAN's post would be you can switch what drivers you "start" right up until an hour before they bring the pace car out. So you can pick your 8 total guys, wait until after qualifying to choose your 4 "starters" and then switch them again in the event NASCAR penalizes one of your guys and sends him to the back of the field. I think you have until an hour before the race starts to make any lineup changes.
Oh, and those 9 starts max limit is indeed a very challenging thing to work around. There are only so many drivers and they've added something like 8 races to the Yahoo league this year and I was running out of starts with a lot of guys last year! Just keep that in mind when you find yourself a couple months into the season and have already used Jimmy Johnson 6 times.
