Im glad this guy went out on top. I remember the amazing stats he put up at Independance High and was eager to watch him in college. Unfortunately for him he had to play under Zook for a few years. I thought for a while that he may be over-rated but it turns out it was just the system. Plus he is very serious about the game and completely dedicated to his school. I remember reading an article(I think it was during his Soph. year) where he said he wasnt gonna have a girlfriend until he brought a national title to Gainesville. I dont know if he ever followed through with that but either way its nice to see him get his title

I wonder where he'll go in the draft. Should be interesting. He's got great passing numbers most years he was in college. He is short, but so are a lot of other good QBs. He's accurate, can make plays with his feet. I hope he goes late in the 2nd round or early in the 2nd.

If anybody deserved to go out with a bang it was Chris leak. The guy has been a starter since his freshmen year and all that hard work finally pays off in his last game.

I second that! Couldn't happen to a better guy. He throws one of the prettiest passes and nicest spirals in football.

And in another nice little touch, Leak had the longest run from scrimmage (14 yards) of any of the QBs (Tebow 10, Smith 13). It was his long run that turned Florida around when we played them.

Just a marvelous performance by him and the rest of the Gator team. The defense was on fire--that last sack when the LE was inexplicably left uncovered, sprinted in, literally threw Smith back 6-7 yards, was terrifying and awesome to behold.

And then there was Earl "No Helmet? No Problem!" Everett.

It really was as thorough a butt-whooping as we've seen in a while.

I think Leak should get credit for his maturity and dedication. Let's be honest, Leak, like a lot of offensive players, were square pegs from the moment CUM stepped onto campus. It would have been easy for Leak to transfer or give up because he was in an offense he had absolutely no business running. Despite everything he was facing and the absurd amount of unfair criticism he was getting from the fans and press, he hung tough and didn't quit. He definitely deserved the win last night.

Leak is, without question, one of the best role models I have ever seen in college football. I would have no problem whatsoever with my kids looking up to Chris Leak. UF fans and alum should be proud to have him associated with the university.

I agree, Leak is a great person, above being a great FB player. I really hated when the media kept "alluding" to how Florida fans wanted Tebow over Leak...that we booed Leak...that was all a complete fabrication. I go to 3-4 Gator games every year...I've never, ever heard one UF fan say they would rather have Tebow starting over Leak...sure, in a couple of games, when Tebow was running all over the competion, we wanted Meyer to leave him in...but never ever, in person or on Gator message boards, have I seen or heard a fan chastise Leak and promote Tebow over him. Didn't happen.

That was the case at the game I saw, too. Plenty of people just wanted to see Tebow trample somebody else. They got upset if it looked like Tebow was on a roll and deserved to finish the drive. Get some of the glory with the TD. They weren't booing Leak. They were booing pulling Tebow; and that's not the same thing. Sometimes I wonder if the media guys are even watching the same game I am. :thumbsdow

I hope he goes to my Carolina Panthers and plays NFL in his hometown of Charlotte, NC. Panthers will draft a QB for sure but will be in the 2nd or 3rd round to create some competition with Jake Delhoome because Winke is just not getting it done. I've watched this kid since high school and like cocky said, been waiting for him to have a big time performance for a long time. It finally happened and he is a really smart kid.

Took the words right off my keyboard. I fully expect Leak to excel in the NFL if he gets into a good situation and has time to learn/adjust. As good as I think he is, I don't see him doing well if thrown into the fire on a bad team.

I agree, but I don't think Leak will be able to run at all in the NFL as someone earlier suggested. I think he will get killed if he takes off in the NFL. Luckily with the arm he has he isn't the kind of QB that needs to take off a whole lot. And now that I think about it, he's probably better prepared to take big hits than most QBs coming into the draft, courtesy of SEC defenses like ours.

Did any of y'all happen to catch Leak on Leno last night?

it was very interesting. He seems confident about his draft status. I don't think he'll go very high but I do wish him well. Oh yeah...when asked about his love life he confirmed that it had been a very long time since he had even dated. Now that folks is dedication.
