View Full Version : Wow, Bama player transfers and De-commitments

That thumb is hurting more than you ever thought it would isn't it? It looks like recruits are finally coming to their senses and staying far away from the Mullet Nation.
Do you people realize how many players are transferring to other schools immediately after your meaningless bowl game in Shreveport?
That Thumb is finally taking it's toll on the entire delusional Bammer Nation. This is usually the time when the Bammers panic and start buying players. Sorry, not going to work this time boys.
Don't worry, we have plenty of room for a couple of your now De-commitments, who are actively pursuing AU.
" Maybe Alabama wouldn't be so quick to have fired Mike Shula if they knew that nobody in America who mattered would be willing to step in and replace him.
Look at who has already said no. Nick Saban: Pass. The Ol' Ball Coach: No thanks. Frank Beamer: Why should I? Bobby Petrino: Downgrade. Rich Rodriguez: Make me. Oh, and Jim Leavitt wants nothing to do with you. That has to hurt. Being Alabama and getting the Heisman from the coach at South Florida, at least the U. was turned down by Rutgers. At this point, you might as well dig up Bear Bryant. Or better yet, see if Mike Price is still interested. Trust me, you're not going to do any better.
The front of the jersey may still say Alabama but in name only. That program is nowhere right now. It's become an SEC afterthought. Enjoy the glory days of Bryant, Namath, Stabler, Stallings, Alexander, Price because that's all you have and that is not going to change."

They didn't drop him hard enough. He's still alive.
I'm not going to have fun at Ala. expense anymore. I'm really starting to feel for you guys. Hell, LSU may be in the same spot in a few years. Anyways, Good luck to the bama nation.

TMP, thanks for the well wishes. I wouldn't wish our coaching situation of anyone, even Auburn.

The players Imhotep is referring to are Jermain McKenzie who dropped his commitment and Robert Marve who has recently been heavily pursued by Miami and *might* be considering de-commiting.

He also said transfered. I didn't know that non-students could transfer from a University they have yet to attend, but instead simply decommmit.

I haven't seen anything but McKenzie and Marve (which I posted earlier in the recruiting thread). I don't know who goober is talking about or what he is talking about with the "thumb" being the cause for the de-commits.

Imho, do you have anything better to do than try to rile us up? We hate you guys, you hate us, blah blah blah. You don't contribute anything to this forum other than talking smack, which this site has another forum for.
Big deal if Alabama loses a few recruits this year! If we get a quality head coach we can make up the ground easily. Let me explain a concept that is foreign to you other than counting to five. Its called math.
Alabama had 70 lower classmen this year. Out of 105 players. Out of the 35 that are upperclassmen, about 15-18 are seniors.
Therefore, this recruiting class we only need to sign about 15 players thats it.

I'm with TPM...this is all getting so surreal, I can't help but hope Bama gets that vacancy filled and we can all go on with our lives. I'd heard the Mavre rumors as well in the past few weeks but I've also heard rumors about Alfred McCullough and I'm fairly sure nothing will come of that so I have to put Mavre in that category as well.
As for transfers, I would think Alabama MIGHT lose a couple but I doubt any high-caliber players is going to leave Tuscaloosa. You have to think about when you were in school....you have your friends, you know your favorite places around town, etc etc. To have to start all over somewhere else just because the coach who recruited you got fired is a bigger decision than just how much playing time you're going to get. I would think a player would have to be REALLY creased by the whole situation to turn their own lives upside down because of it. A lot of these kids do committ to the school, not the coach...

I'm with you. I'd rather talk about the bowl games than read and talk about the coaching situation, hence, I wish there wasn't one.

It is only a matter of time. There are plenty of excellent coaches out there that would love to be the coach at Ala. I like the fact that they are being very careful about who this guy will be. They could have hired a coach long ago, but they are being very selective, and that is good.

Obviously, I have no lost love for Bama. Like most fans I like to banter with my Bama counterparts on occation. With that said, I do want people to realize that there are fans of every team (except maybe Vandy LOL) that err to the extremely rabid side of things. Imhotep appears to be one of those for Auburn. Posts like that are trying to get a reaction from you, when you respond it encourages more of the same.
Personally, I have to admit that although I've enjoyed the turmoil at Bama, I for one look forward to a time when Bama is again a contender in the SEC west and the Iron Bowl once again gets back the conference title implications that it once had. Beating Bama is just more fun when the conference title is at stake. With our fawed BCS system where style points count and how many top teams you play & beat count I would love for Auburn get the BCS benefit of beating a ranked Bama as opposed to beating a middle of the pack / insignifcant Bama.
As for the coaching situation at Bama, I've stated this many times (& I know many @ Bama feel the same way) Mal Moore is the biggest part of the problem @ Bama & the first step to getting a great coach & building a future will be ditching Moore.

Imhotep seems to be a little on the lonely side if you ask me. I hate to call out and talk about other members of the board, but this guy takes the cake for Annoyee of the Month (or year).
While I can't agree mutually that I like to see Auburn suffer, I do hope Bama rebounds in 2007 and puts 2006 behind them like it never happened. That will be hard, but the best thing is to move forward and not dwell on the negatives of the past. I really don't want to see Auburn, let alone my Crimson Tide team, in turmoil. I just want Bama to beat you guys.
Mal Moore has been the problem at Bama for as long as I can remember. The buck stops at President Witt, the criticism weighs heavy on the BOT, but at the forefront stands Mal Moore, the AD, who takes all the blame.
He makes the decisions on hiring and firing. So far he hasn't done a spectacular job. Hiring Dennis Franchione was a smart move, up until he bailed out on us for ATM. Hiring Shula was smart, up until he fired him only four years into coaching at Alabama.
Mal Moore needs to find a suitable coach, resign from his position as AD, and kick back and enjoy the rest of his life without ridicule from the media, fans, and his employers and the BOT.
