You guys might want to sell out your allotment or it's going to look bad for future bowl bids.

Auburn struggles to unload Cotton Bowl tickets
Plenty of good seats still available for New Year's Day game in Dallas

AUBURN -- Plenty of good seats are still available.

That's the message Auburn officials want to send to fans who are waffling about whether to attend Auburn's game against Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day.

Auburn received an allotment of 12,500 tickets, and the seats are not close to being sold out.

I bought mine on-line.

I am around the 40 yard line. If I went through the athletic department. I would be sitting somewhere in the end zone.

Hopefully plenty of Auburn fans are doing the same. Would hate to see a partisan crowd for Nebraska there.

The main issue is other bowls claiming Auburn doesn't travel that well if the allotment isn't sold. Although I'd be hard pressed to want to spend $90 for a ticket and a 400 mile (I think it's 400) trip.

Most of the bowl games are actually attended by locals more then each schools fans. The crowd that you see and hear on TV will be pulling for Neb.

Uh it's almost 800 miles to Dallas, one way. But I will overlook the ignorance, since most Bama fans have never left the state.

Which is why it wouldn't surprise me if Nebraska pulled a Wisconsin on them this year. Last year they were too busy gloating over the Iron Bowl... this year too busy gloating/watching Bama's coaching search?

I hope not... that was pretty embarrassing last year (for the SEC as a whole). Just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

The 2003 Cotton Bowl between Ole Miss and Oklahoma State was split pretty evenly between red and blue and orange and white throughout the entire stadium. You could see a big divider line of the colors along the fifty behind the Oklahoma State bench.

I would be glad to try and arrange their move.... Vandy needs to go somehwere that they actually have a chance. If Wake can win the ACC then Vandy sure could....

It's simple really. There always comes a time when the gap between big brother and little brother no longer exists. Even though neither little brother nor big brother will ever concede the fact...

Therefore conflict!

I have had the very unique priviledge of expereincing both set of fights. (Lucky me!)

I would love to go to the Cotton Bowl, but....

a) can't afford to buy tickets, fly or drive to Texas, have a place to stay while I am there, and eat while I am there after spending way too much on Christmas for my stepson and family and donating to Christmas charities for children who don't have much including my students.

b) even though I will be off work (Christmas vacation as a teacher starts in one week!), hubby will be working and don't want to go without him.

c) I am going to Orlando mid January for a conference and don't need to be gone any more than that!

So, if anyone wants to buy my ticket, pay for a place to stay, buy my food, and my plane ticket...I would love to go!

The Cotton Bowl is in the concrete jungle of ugly that is Dallas, early in the am AFTER new years eve, in a bland and out-dated stadium. And with the way Auburn has played in early morning games this year, I'm not surprised we don't have fans dying to drive 800 miles to wake up hungover at 8 am to go to the game.

I'll be in Fort Bragg with the fam watching it in my warm living room and hanging out with my dad who re-deploys in 2 months.

I've already purchased 12 tickets and will be headed to Dallas around the 26th. We are all excited about playing Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl. It should be one of the better bowl games that day. As usual, Auburn will sell all of their tickets and have a big crowd in Dallas.

It just sounds like another one of the many bogus stories created by another one of the highly respected journalists in the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa news.--LOL

Only Bammers are dumb enough to believe everything they read in the Alabama media. You know, the same media morons who love to print fiction and fantasy. Over the last couple of weeks that have hired at least 3 different coaches without any official confirmation.

First they hired Steve Spurrier(wrong)....
Next, Nick Saban was the man(wrong)...
Then Rich Rodriguez was signed sealed and delivered(wrong)...
Now Saban's is coming at the end of the NFL season(wrong)..

Keep buying those newspapers and keep listening to the fools in the Alabama media. Maybe somebody will get lucky and actually print something based on facts.

Most of the Auburn fans I've talked to are looking forward to playing Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl. It's one of the better bowl game match-ups that day.

BTW, who is going to coach the Tide in Shreveport?

You have made it clear that nobody should pay any attention to the articles, yet you go out of your way to find every article possible to draw attention to it. The only reason you post them is to quench your own insatiable thirst to libel Alabama at every chance you get whether the articles may or may not be right.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Tickets for the AT&T Cotton Bowl are so cheap that a family of four could see the New Year's Day game between Nebraska and Auburn in Dallas for less than $100.

The lowest price found Tuesday, on StubHub.com, was $12 for a ticket with a face value of $90.

Neither Nebraska nor Auburn had sold out its allotment of 12,500 tickets, all priced at $90. All but about 3,500 of the 68,252 Cotton Bowl stadium seats have a face value of $90.

Carr, like others in the travel and ticket business, say fans aren't enamored with Dallas as a destination. Brokers say Nebraska fans are let down after the Huskers lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. Same goes for Auburn fans, who saw their Tigers' national championship hopes end with a November loss to Georgia.

The 10:38 a.m. kickoff time is also difficult to overcome, Carr said, as is the unpredictable January weather in Dallas.
