Rookie of the Year (Defense): Prince Hall, Alabama – It didn’t take Hall much time to become a fixture on the Crimson Tide defense. Hall led Alabama in solo tackles and tackles for loss, remarkable for a freshman in the SEC. A hard-nosed player who hits like a ton of bricks, he is a game-changer at linebacker who will spearhead future success on defense in Tuscaloosa.

It's nice to see some props come Bama's way. Congrats to Prince Hall on the Southern Pigskin pick for ROTY (Defense).

Most Clutch Player: JaMarcus Russell, LSU – Throughout his career, Russell has shown the ability to make big plays when it matters most. The Tiger junior had an incredible season, throwing 26 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions. Russell has for the most part thrived late in games when LSU has been in difficult situations. He is a savvy veteran and just seems to find a way to get it done on the field.

Is this joke? Jamarcus clutch? Correct me if I'm wrong but he came through with a whopping 3 points and failed to throw to the endzone on the last play in a loss that had they won, they might be plaing in the title game right now.

He also led a game winning drive against UT, vs. Ole Miss, and has led game winning drives in other seasons. He was able to drive the ball all the way down field against Auburn at the end of that game, and if Russell leads the reciever on that last play...the reciever is in the end zone.

Russell is pretty clutch at the end of games, but he's shaky sometimes in the 3rd quarters.

Who cares if he got yards. LSU didn't need 'x' number of yards to win, they needed a touchdown, and didn't get it. In fact, they didn't get one the whole game, with JaMarcus calling the shots. If you're going to be clutch player of the year in the SEC it can't be just some of the time.

I can't think of a better pick for this year... I don't think this was a landslide pick... now maybe for most athletic player this year... or most athletic quarterback, he would be an easy pick.
