I have seen new rumors that mention Tommy Bowden as the leading man in the search for a coach at the Capstone. This is very surprising to me, but I do remember that you had mentioned it before and I trust your input. So what's up? Is it the contract clause about FSU and BAMA? or does he or BAMA really want to but a deal together?
I am of the opinion that BAMA will hire John Gruden of Tampa Bay after the season. Close to Saban in attitude and a proven Championship coach at the NFL level. He built a team in Oakland and took over a team in Tampa both went to the Super Bowl. What do you think?
What rumor has wings........no red bull , please!

Let me say this.... This weekend starts the dead period in recruiting. Which means any new coach that Bama inks a deal with and including his new staff. Will not be able to have contact with current commits or new prospects until Jan. the 8th. Or about one month before National Signing Day.
Which means waiting to fill the head coaching postion doesn't present any really more damage if it runs on a couple of more weeks.
It looks like Gruden's season will be close to done by then...

Do you think that Gruden would be a good fit in Tuscaloosa? or in college for that matter? To me he projects himself well and would have plenty of credibility with the college kids, but that's just me. The recruiting thing is iffy to me!

His offenses have always been under fire, but he's got the attitude Bama needs to get some discipline and fire under their team. Maybe not the best long term coach (i.e. his team slumping since super bowl), but he would definitely make some improvements.

This certainly doesn't prove anything, but check out this link....

The board I got that off of brought up some interesting points, such as the fact that TB did get passed up for raise, and that the clemson fans have him on the hot seat....but who knows? Take it for what it's worth

His offenses have always been under fire
He turned 33 y/o Rich Gannon into a 2 time MVP and Brad Johnson into a super bowl winner. Despite the current struggles, you can't strip him of his 'offensive guru' status.
BTW, put and end to this rumor :brick: Gruden's contract isn't up, the Bucs aren't considering firing him, and he's not considering leaving. I have no idea where the hell this rumor came from, but it doesn't hold a shread of truth.

Please God don't let Tommy Bowden leave Clemson.
USC fans have gotten used to their mediocrity and have finally gotten to where we are actually better than them and pretty much any new coach would be an improvement, sooooo.... let him stay at CU forever.
