Everyone seems to be over looking Joe Kines. I'm not sure how well he would be at head coach. I know he is one hell of Defense of coach though. There was a rumor that LSU's D coach might get the job, but that wouldn't make sense to me. Joe is there he knows the team he knows how they play he's got the talent. Just get a new OC and see how he does. A bigger name might turn up in the future plus it wouldn't make them look as bad right now. I don't know just wanted to see what people thought about it.

If it's a coordinator, then it has to be Kines. That would only be fair for a guy who has done an awesome job for the Tide.
I still believe that Moore will stick to his guns and get an accomplished head coach, if at all possible. It may seem like it, but Bama has not exhausted all those possibilities just yet.

from a PR standpoint Bama has backed itself in a corner...........for that reason it can't "stoop" (perception) to hiring a coordinator regardless of his performance as such

Tedford would be my choice for Alabama's head coach.

Tedford would be my choice for Alabama's head coach. The guy is proven! Only problem will be recruiting for him in the southeast- he has no ties.

Jeff Tedford would be a fine addition. BTW, Bamafan316 I have been asking about Joe Kines for a couple weeks now, you're not alone.

I agree with you 100% Bamafan316. Give the man a chance! He may be just as good or better than what they have been looking at with exception of Spurrier and a couple others. Jim Grobe 34/33??? He may have had a good season or two, but give me a break!!! We might as well stuck with what we had than some of these people they are looking at. Geeeeeez!!!
Here's a good question for all but the Bama fans out there. Who would you want to see as your next coach if your current one bit the dust and could no longer coach for whatever reason? Put yourself in Bama's shoes for a min. Just pretend it isn't us, but was YOUR team going thru all of this. And what if you couldn't get a bigger name person like Spurrier, Saban or Rodriguez. Would YOU settle for a Tedford, Johnson or a Grobe??? Be honest now. Who would you want to carry on the tradition at your school and why?

I think Bama is going to wait and see how the bowl goes. If their is a sudden offensive spark, don't be surprised to see Kines at the helm for at least a year. If not, they may go to the NFL to find a proven asst. coach, or a head coach who didn't make the playoffs.

Texas is after him hot and heavy for DC.

The way it is looking John Gruden currently/soon to be formerly of Tampa Bay will be the next HC at Alabama unless something changes.
He fits the bill and is ready for a shot in the college game, won't it be sweet he has big ties to the UT program! More fuel for the fire! RTR! Roll Chucky!

The guy is proven! Only problem will be recruiting for him in the southeast- he has no ties.Same problem but worst when you hire an NFL coach.... zero recruiting experience. That's why you hire local recruiters with an established SEC presence. If Saban and Carroll and Weis can do it then it can be taught.

Don't be surprised if Alabama goes after Jim Leavitt, the USF coach.
Leavitt’s success has extended beyond league play as he reached his 50th career win faster than all but five active I-A coaches. Leavitt picked up his 50th victory in his 75th game, placing him behind Bob Stoops (Oklahoma), Philip Fulmer (Tennessee), John Robinson (UNLV), Joe Paterno (Penn State) and Lloyd Carr (Michigan).
Leavitt's profile foretold of the success to come at USF, even as he was hired for the job on December 12, 1995, exactly one week following his 39th birthday.
After the first nine seasons of USF Football, Leavitt has proven only further that he was indeed the right man for the right job at the right time. Charged with fast tracking a program from non-existence to Division I-A football in just five years time, Leavitt has led the program to an impressive 61-39 record.

No man, you don't want Kines as your HC. Take it from someone who knows. When he was our interm coach in 92 he was horrible and we had a pretty talented team. We fired our coach after an opening loss to the Citadel. Kines took over and coached us to a 3-7-1 record. Incase you were wondering about the talent level of that team we won at #3 Tennessee in Knoxville and tied a good Auburn team that I can't remember what they were ranked.
Trust me, no matter how well you look in your bowl game you don't want to keep Kines for your HC next season. He is a great DC however.

For the record, I think the best coaching option yal have left is Steve Kragthorpe.

Yet they were talented enough to lose to the Citadel
