View Full Version : What is the Barner obsession with the Bear/ Head coaching job at UA?

Is it just me or does every Barner have an obsession about the Bear and the outcome of the head coaching job at Bama? I would like to understand why it matters so much to them.

Because they want to make pre-order shirts for the 6th in a row shirt and need the new Bama coach's face.

Every member of SEC talk has been just as involved with the Bama coaching search as AU fans have. In fact, I would say USC fans have definitely been more interested =)

I dunno where the Bear part of this thread came from, but of course all of SECTalk would be interested in UA having a new coach. Alabama has a few 4 star recruits this year that as of late have been very open to talks and setting up visits. The longer you guys take to land a coach, the more progress is being made by SEC teams to steal those recruits =)

It is kinda like when there is a wreck on I-75 here in Atlanta. Everyone on the other side of the road has to slow down and have a look. It is prime entertainment. You just need to hope a decent coach comes along and scrapes you of the pavement. In the meantime Bwahaaahaahhhaahha!

Like I said earlier there is no BooHooing going on here. The right coach will come. You know the saying "it just wasn't meant to be" that's what I think about the coaches that have turned the job down.

This is a joke, right? After decades of the snottiest, smuggest "we've-got-tradition-and-3,000-titles" approach to a rivalry, I would be stunned if Auburn fans were not checking in daily on this deal.

I really think that what you are missing is the fact that it is not simply the Barners that are enjoying this. Virtually every fan board in every conference in the country has at least one thread howling at your misfortunes.

While some of this has to do with Alabama's history of success, most of it has to do with its habit of arrogance.

AMEN!

This section of Alabama's fanbase (which sadly is the largest part of Bama's fanbase) is whats earning you guys a bad reputation with the rest of college football. Bama had a lot of good years, some undefeated season with self-appointed championships and legit championships, but that in no way means "bama belongs in the top-teir of the SEC and in the NC game every year". Plenty of schools have legendary coaches, but you don't see their fans tattooing giant portraits of them on their backs.

The sooner the last generation of "bama is always #1"/bear worshipers dies out, the faster Alabama can become a respected team/fanbase again. Unfortunately natural selection is taking its time with a lot of them, but hopefully they will not reproduce and brainwash their children into carrying on the legacy of ignorance.

WallyGoat

You should be a stand up comedian. It's funny, when I was growing up I never thought Bama had a "rightful" place other than being in the SEC with 11 other teams. I didn't grow up in Alabama, so I never understood the "Bear Mentality" that exists with a large number of Alabama fans.

The hiring of a new head coach should spark a new era in Alabama history. That era should include Alabama fans forgetting about anyone having to live up to Coach Bryant's legacy, and instead allow our new coach to cement his own legacy in his own way. I'd also like to see Mal Moore fired.

Mal Moore should be fired definitely. If the rumors going around that the BOT blocked spurrier and saban are true then theres no hope for anyone that comes to coach. There needs to be an entire shake up like auburn did after jetgate in 03. The govenor stepped in and what do ya know President Gone, BOT shake up and the power of the football team rests in the hands of CTT not some bunch of pencil pushing communist(really dont know how that applies here but we'll leave it) geeks that have their own agenda's .

My girlfriend goes to UAT so I have been to more Bama games this year than in the past. The stadium is top notch. Facilities are top notch. The walk of champions is very classy. On gamedays there are families having picknicks in the huge grassy area in the middle of "the walk" . It's a great game day atmosphere. There is always a drunk guy singing reggae(sp?) it's pretty funy. You want to walk on legendary BD stadium under the lights ? About an hour after the game you can just walk in there and play football or take pictures or maybe you find a mouthpiece(don't act like you wouldn't take it....lol)
My point is they have just about every piece of the puzzle to be successfull. The president,BOT, AD and HC need to all go to a bar get hammered and work something out. The power needs to be in the hands of the HC so he can delegate. If they can get their heads out of their asses then Bama will be a power in the SEC very very soon.

I learned long ago that neither side of this on-going debate will ever change the others sides opinion. So, why flame all the time....

On the coaching:
Why not go for someone like Jimbo at LSU.

Young, Hard worker, good recruiter currently working in a recruiting rich state. One of the other reasons is that more then anything else. Bama needs stability in coaching at this point.

Plus, it might weaken another western division opponent!

And I just want everyone to know that it wasn't Eric Ramsey that was behind the lies and the bringing down of Pat Dye.

No, it was his golddigging b**** of an ex-wife, Twillita or whatever the hell her name is. She tipped off 60 Minutes, she told Eric to carry the tape recorder, she helped make the tape to sound as bad as it did.

This wasn't Antonio Langham where an old napkin led to millions and millions lost for a school, this was the systematic extortion of money from a school by a coldhearted woman that didn't give a damn if coaches lost their jobs, wellmeaning boosters ended up getting a blackeye for trying to help a guy that "supposedly" needed money to feed his family with, or if the school got on Probation and as a result we the fans were unable to see a perfect football season on TV.

And to top it all off, that woman ended up divorcing Eric some years later and now she's got a considerable amount of money that he honestly and rightfully worked for after graduating.

You can really tell I have a low tolerance for that *****.

I got to thinking about this post again and the more I thought about it the more it bothered me that you would suggest that I sound insecure, because I am far from it, I am a true til' the end fan. I grew up a 15 min. drive from Legion Field and went to many a game there hell, I even played there. I was born a Bammer and will always be one. And it's not just the Tide I'm talking about either. I supported all those rinky dink pro teams that blew through town every few years, the Fire, Stallions, Americans, and do you remember this one--- the Vulcans. So, you could say that I am a life long fan of "Alabama" football including foremost the TIDE. The only team from the Heart of Dixie I don't support is the BARN. And that's really what makes you a Bama fan isn't it. Never, ever let yourself sway near liking or supporting Auburn. EVER! And as far as feeling insecure (in his all his glorified Alabama arrogance, that everyone is quick to point out about Bama fans) why should I. We always manage to keep up even with a mediocre coach(6-6 I've seen worse). Imagine what it will be like when we get the right one. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!
