GatorHunter already posted this in the Auburn section, it looks like more old news more the most park. As long as the coaching staff/athletic department had nothing to do with manually adjusting the students schedule then their shouldn't be a problem. Unless of course that professor is still working here, he/she would be in some major trouble.

I could have sworn that the first artice said that athletes (and non athletes) received easy grades for little to no work, not that an athlete had their grade changed to reach the 2.0 required min (without the professor's knowledge). That is something new that is worth something.

I don't really think this is a big deal. This story was either held from months ago, or the professor spoke to a NYT guy while we're doing an internal investigation. Changes have already been made to fix things in this program and will continue to be watched. There is nothing that we can do to change what has already happened.

What the hell is up with the NY Times and only the NY Times reporting these things? And why weren't there any consequences the first time? If the first article was accurate, back in July or whenever it was, surely there would have been consequences right?

I love how everyone is accusing us of cheating but somehow we have magically avoided all consequences. The only people that claim we are cheating are the NY times, not the NCAA.

I sent the author the articles of the Alabama players taking the same type courses and getting more credit hours for less work.

For some reason he chose not to respond?

By JEFF MILLER / The Dallas Morning News

Plano East's Charlie Peprah is one of 14 Alabama players who already have earned bachelor's degrees.

Peprah graduated last December but waited until May to go through the ceremony to make it easier for family members to attend and to avoid conflicting with last year's bowl preparations. And, only a few weeks ago, he earned his master's degree in financial planning.

JB Closner from San Antonio Clark is one of seven Tide players who graduated in May. Southeastern Conference rules require players to pass six hours to be eligible to play in a bowl, and Closner said he found an independent study class worth six hours' credit.

"Like a diamond in the rough," he said of the class, smiling. "Had to write a five-page paper. I was done with that by September."

Quarterback Brodie Croyle, another graduate, took the same course. "I kind of slacked up a little bit," he said, looking at the ground. "I got done in December."

Said Peprah: "I actually had some pretty tough classes. Not P.E. or music, the art of cartwheels or whatever classes they were taking."

When Croyle was asked who had it tougher, himself or USC quarterback Matt Leinart (who took only ballroom dancing last semester), he said, "Probably him."
