I don't really know anything about their class, but I did find out two interesting things today.

1. They have 31 commitments.
2. One of those is named "Mike Hunt".

Nice

Also there is a dude named Jazmen Guy. That was one of the chicks from "A Different World" (it used to come on after the Cosby show for those who around back then). Pretty funny stuff.

Remember, this is the school that had players named Pig and Pork Chop.

So what's worse if you are a football player?

1. Being named after a farm animal.
2. Being named after a meat product.
3. Being named after a has-been, female sitcom star.

I wish We had a few more of those Pork Chops , He was better than any lineman We have right now. :D

I think Ole Pork Chop is playing with the Seahawks now and doing pretty well.

He is. He's taking advantage of the Seahawks botching the Steve Hutchinson deal.

Who????? Who is Steve Hutchinson and what does that have to do with Pork Chop playing for the Seahawks?

He's the best LG in NFL. You know, the position that Womack is starting right now. The Seahawks botched his free agent deal not thinking the Vikings would pull the trigger. That's the only reason Womack is in the lineup.

Actually Pork Chop is a pretty good name for an O-Lineman.

Your anger sensor is off then. I was pointing out the only reason he was in the starting lineup. I was also surprised that Leroy who is fairly endowed with football knowledge didn't know who Steve Hutchinson is.

Well you got me there. I don't keep up as well as I used to and after a little research , I am surprised myself that I even asked that question. After seeing where he played at MICH it finally did ring a bell. A little embarressing for me.

When you have two little ones like mine ( 2 boys 1 and 3 years ) you find yourself with much less time to follow your sports as closely as you once did. To quote Toby Keith , " I aint as good as I once was."

You are correct. I wouldn't rank Womack in the class as Hutchinson , but Ole Pork Chop is still pretty good and much better than anything We have had in the last few years. I wish We had a couple of players like him for next year.

Derek Sherrod will fill a spot on the O-line and will be a really nice addition for us!!!

I'm not exactly sure what to expect of us having 4 QB committs. Maybe the coaches are thinking one will not qualify and another one will end up playing a different position. I'm expecting the 2 QBs that will have a chance at making an impact will be Carroll and Riddell. I think that Relf with a 4.87 time in the 40 will be too slow to be a receiver and too slow to be a DB. So I'm not sure how he fits in unless he is one of the guys we are expecting NOT to qualify. Zach Smith with a 4.5 40 time could go to the receiving corp.
With the 4 commits that we have this year that makes a total of 9 QBs on board with us. their names are:
1-Henig
2-Rutland
3-Evans
4-Ambers
5-Harrington
6-Carroll
7-Smith
8-Riddell
9-Relf
I could see several of these guys changing positions; at least 4 maybe 5.

All in all I am very pleased with what I see of our recruiting class.

Here's a look at how our entire team stacks up.

Wow... I had no idea that Mississippi State actually recruited players for the football team! The next thing you will try to tell me is that Ole Miss & Vandy do this as well.

That's real funny WarEagle way to be a smarta$$. I have a feeling that with all the off the field problems Auburn is having lately that ya'll will soon be in the same boat Bama is in with probation and sanctions.

Easy there dawg. Just having a little fun. :stickpoke Don't get your hopes up about "off the field" trouble at Auburn. That's just the New York Times trying to stay relevant. Anyway, I see you are rookie here so I'll cut you some slack on this one. So please let me welcome you to SEC Talk. Have fun wile you are here. Most folks on here are usually pretty cool. We'll have fun, rag each other a little, and talk good football for the most part. I didn't mean to give you a case of the "vapors" over my joke about MSU. I do think Sly is doing a bang up job at rebuilding there. If they give him the time to do what he wants to, he'll have the dawgs back to form in no time.

I don't mean this to be provocative, but what is going on with the Dawg class? Jonathon Williams and Jamairey Atterbury are already gone and the rumor is that Co-Eric Riley and Lee Chambers are headed to UTK and that Bowman may rethink his trip to Miami now that Shannon is in charge. Is Croom backing off on them because of grades? I mean 31 is a pretty big class.

For the record, I think that Ole Miss is slipping on a couple of guys an may lose long time commit Alex Williams. We are also backing off on at least two guys because of grades. On the flip side, we don't seem concerned about Cannon Smith's ecstasy issue.

I don't know about Williams and Atterbury, but last I heard Riley is still solidly committed. I don't know about chambers either. If I was to guess on the situation I would assume that we backed off on Williams and Atterbury.

Co-Eric Riley will re-affirm his commit in the next few days. He's been shopping for guaranteed starting time but is not getting it. He got the confidence builder he needed from State when we got Josh Riddell to commit.

Lee Chambers hasn't really impressed me much and I don't think he's got the grades anyway. I'd gladly trade his offer to offensive tackle Rodney Brisbon - 6"6' mountain of a man. I'll feel like I'm getting my money's worth on him. A lineman that size can make almost any running back look good.

Here's the latest from Scout.com.

The defensive side of the ball is dominated by JUCOs.

And on another note. Ashley who dropped us like a hot potato at the last minute last year has been desperately trying to get Croom to take him back or pull some strings and find him a place to go. We do not have a committment from a RB this year. So I say let him come back. I want to see Croom get a chance to show us his prized recruit that got away.

Jones is coming back, though? right? (he was supposed to be a freshman this year, but did not qualify academically)
