I saw the Ohio State Meechageen game and was amazed at the field. What gives buckeye fans? I heard some people say that it had been rainy for months and the field was in horrible shape. Was this a problem for you guys all season long? Do you guys think this new turf is a good idea? After watching the field almost fall apart under players feet, I sure think its a good idea.

We've had a ryegrass field ever since the 2002 Michigan, and earlier this season it got a fungal infection and had to be replaced for the safety of the players.
So, Ohio Stadium got new turf in October, and even the most amatuer horticulturist will tell you that planting stuff in late fall is probably a bad idea. As a result, there were too many stressors on the new turf and it just didn't survive.
Ohio State's an ag school, so this kinda reflects poorly on their soil science department. But really, there was nothing they could do.
The new turf IS a good idea, it's just hard to see that multi-million dollar pump/drainage system underneath the stadium go to waste

Its been a problem whenever there is a heavy rain storm. Since the renovation to the stadium after 2001, the field was lowered 14 feet into the ground to accomodate more seating.
