There were several "bad calls" in that game that went both ways....the Gators were called on a PI call on 4th down that gave the Hawkeyes a 1st and goal late in the game... :thumbsdow

The mere fact that 2 or 3 people have signed up for this site just to tell us that we suck is a tribute to just how much respect we have gained throughout the years. I mean do SEC fans sign up for big east and WAC boards to remind them we are better? No. Not necessary! We already know we are the toughest conference.

Anybody remember the old Saturday Night Live crew with Akroyd, Belushi, etc... I think it was Belushi pretending to be Woody Hayes at home with his wife. We know that the SEC is the best conference top to bottom but the Big 10 (11) also is a tough conference its just that most of the teams in our conference don't show up every week.

Ive heard some newbies say that they are tired of hearing about how strong the SEC is. I can see how you get the impression we are cocky over here. What you have to understand is we really arent that cocky, were just celebrating after years of frustration. Not to mention getting screwed by the BCS most years. At last we are getting some respect from the media and the rest of the country.
Here is a prime example of what we have had to go through with the BCS and media. We had an AWESOME UNDEFEATED Auburn team a few years ago that got screwed royally! I would have loved to see that auburn team get a shot at the condoms. They would have put up a better fight than Oklahoma thats for sure.
You see the media loves Ohio State, Southern Cal, ND etc. Thats all they talk about. The media tends to BASH the SEC all the time & we SEC fans are sick of it. Lee Corso is pretty much the only one who respects the SEC.
Finally the BCS has worked in our favor & now we get a chance to prove to the country that our conference is legit. We are excited about that and its showing but dont confuse that with being arrogant.

With all do respect I dont consider the Big 10 a joke. The conference is a little weaker this year than normal but still competetive. I wish you guys had a conference title game is all. My most respected conference besides the SEC would have to be the Big 12. Lots of powerhouses + a conference title game. My least respected conference would have to be the Big Least.

Sorry to preach but I just think some people really dont understand SEC fans.

Actually, I want to apologize. I just thought it over. It's not worth it to continue to be an antagonist or even the protaganist in the whole issue.

I simply made a broad statement to Zookers that some SC fans were a little on edge for the past two weeks, then it got out of hand. Of course, if you haven't noticed, I have been on edge too. When I open my mouth, or in this case, continue to type relentlessly on my keyboard, it's hard to shut me up.

I have claimed in the past to be a rational person, from a football perspective, however, I have not lived up to that claim. 90% of the people on here, not including the ones I have argued with, are 10 times more rational than me for not even including themselves in this debate/scuffle between Bama and SC fans.

I do apologize, even to you GameCock Fan. Not because you were right or I was wrong, that's not the case. It's a simple matter of dignity. I am going to try to hold onto what I have left after this whole debacle.

Yea, that was about the only bad call that Florida got that whole game. The bad calls did not go both ways. Not even close. The CUSA wouldnt have apologized to Iowa if the calls went both ways.

Well, I look it with the recent history, the cautious optimism that both programs have(UM with their move to the new on-campus stadium in 2009 and USC with Spurrier along with the massive building program in Columbia). They want to be winners in the future but have to be able to get through the top 3-4 teams in their conference and that's no easy task.

Likewise, I look at schools like Auburn, Clemson, and Purdue as being cut of a similar mold from an academic(they're all land grant schools) and athletic standpoint.

1. Steve Spurrier is a better coach than Glenn Mason
2. South Carolina will ALWAYS recruit better kids than Minnesota. But like I've said before, recruiting kids and developing kids are two different things.

And the Big 10 is mostly comprised of land grant institutions. Here's a list in case you are interested in knowing all of the land grant schools in the country
