Who Would You Rather Have On Your SEC Team; Tebow or McFadden?

I would take McFadden. Tebow is like a north/south fullback when he runs, and I am not sure he can pass much better than McFadden. One thing for sure, Tebow can't run like McFadden.

I selected McFadden. He's a dual threat, and he can run or pass it down any team's throat.

This year 2006: McFadden - Soph, Hell of a year .
Next Year 2007: McFadden - Junior, He's going to get better.
2008: Tebow - Junior, He'll be the franchise of UF by 2008.

Today, I would say Mcfadden but for the long term it would be Tebow just because the QB spot is so critical.

McFadden. Jump passes will only work a few times

I loved when the announcer said something like "And Darren even throws the ball better than Tebow" when comparing the two. Priceless.

I voted for D-Mac, but that kid will go pro faster than you can fill a pig trough with slop.

Elusive RBs are a dime-a-dozen, but legit dual-threat QBs don't come around very often.

He will go pro, after next year and most Hog fans would be pleased with that.

The kid broke almost every HS passing AND rushing record in the state of Florida.

He had three TDs against Less-U.....two of those were passes, and one of those two passes was a 40+ yard TD pass to Murphy...on a rope. How much more do you wanna see, lol?

The kid can throw the football. His package was limited while he got used to big time cfb. You'll see him running a lot more of the offense from here on out.

First, McFadden is more than an "elusive" RB. He does it all; power runner and speed and passing ability.

Second, the most "legit" dual-threat QB likely resides in Baton Rouge; his name is Ryan Perrilloux. Next year, my man, next year.

Right now, this isn't even a question. D-Mac is the guy.

BTW, that '40 yarder' against LSU by Tebow was not a good throw. I could have made the throw, not to mention the receiver had to stop, sit, and wait on the ball to get there and it was still a bit underthrown. He was just that open.

Yeah, USC has a RB by the last name of Turman that shattered all of the state of GA's rushing records also......

ask us how he is doing......

I am sure in due time Tebow will be all that, but right now anyone that says they would rather have Tebow right now over McFadden is being a "homer."

The two aren't even close.........

BTW, before you claim not to be a "homer," the vote is 23-2 in favor of McFadden. How anyone can claim they would rather a player that is unproven and basically untested over a Hesiman candidate is beyond me.

Heck, I wouldn't even trade Syvelle Newton for Tebow RIGHT NOW.

TaySC
11-24-2006, 11:26 PM
BTW, a few more points to finish nailing this coffin shut.......

SEC Statistics:

(Tebow nowhere to be found in any category)

McFadden:
#1 in scoring TD's in the SEC with 14
#2 in scoring points per game in the SEC with 7.8 PPG average.
#2 in all purpose yard average per game with 149.5 YPG
#1 in rushing in the SEC with 118.5 YPG and the only back to have over 1k yards on the season.

Now, we all know that McFadden plays more than Tebow, thus he is setting the records, but the talk about Tebow at this point is mainly speculation. I agree that in another year or two he SHOULD be awesome, but to place him ahead of a guy that is leading almost every yardage category in the SEC is just plain silly.

Give me the soon to be Heisman winner anyday.....

This isn't even remotely a question to me. I'm taking McFadden every day, and twice on Sunday. Tebow must prove that he can throw the ball. Throwing for 200 yards against a 1-AA team doesn't show me a damn thing. Tebow hasn't shown me a damn thing. Running and passing in high school are compeletely different than doing so in the SEC. Tebow is a product of hype.....period.

McFadden, McFadden, McFadden. End of discussion.

this is pretty dumb to compare stats....pretty hard to compare a qb to a rb. to say you would have one or the other is fine, but to try to compare stats is an injustice. for one, tebow isnt a starter, a true freshman and has been used in limited situations. mcfadden is a sophomore, starts, gets 20 touches a game...not to mention they dont play the same position.

and geaux, it is going to be hard for perriloux to be elite next year from the bench. if he was so good, he would of already unseated jamarcus b/c it is clear he isnt the qb you win championships with.

I guess we will have to wait and see on Tebow, but I promise you running backs like McFadden are not a dime-a-dozen. I think he is now starting to enter into that elite group of Herschel and Bo Jackson.

I dont even think this is a real question. McFadden is the BEST player in the COUNTRY right now. Tebow has yet to play so we'll see when he gets his chance but I like McFadden more than Tebow. Unless Tebow turns into a Vince Young or Troy Smith, McFadden will always be better.

"If it's all equal and you got a guy back there like him (McFadden) ... and if you can throw the ball at all. I believe that's the one offense that's impossible to stop. If he's not the best tailback in the country, I haven't seen one better." - Urban Meyer

Even Tebow's coach would probably take McFadden over Tebow.

ask meyer which is more important for his offense, a very good back or a very good dual qb and he would go with the qb every time. you gotta draw the line somewhere.

i think this thread is geaux's way to try and get under the skin of uf fans. you could do this poll with mcfadden and damn near every player in the country and the answer would be the same.

who would you rather have...mcfadden or jamarcus russell, alley broussard, and dwayne bowe????

.....you're supposed to lead a receiver, blues....

Okay, since we're nitpicking now... The ball was not underthrown in proportion to where the receiver was when Tebow released. But usually, you lead your receiver so he doesn't have to stop and wait on the ball. He had to stop is route, wait, and still had to reach forward a little for it.

The ball was underthrown and you know it. Quit making pathetic excuses for your loverboy.

lmao, the guy was wide open, like you said before. when a guy is that open, you dont have to hit him in stride, if fact, most qb's make sure not to be too perfect in a situation like that. did he slow down, yeah. was the ball thrown well, yeah. was the ball underthrown, nope.

You need to watch it again...it was a perfectly thrown ball on a rope...Murphy sure is hell didn't stop and "wait on it...Tebow hit him in stride as he crossed the goal-line...then Murphy fell down...just watched it.

Anyway, comparing Tebow and McFadden is like comparing Sidney Rice and Ryan Perriloux...sure Rice is awesome...but Perriloux has the potential to carry a team all the way to the promised land...at least according to Geuax..;) Rice would be the player everyone would pick...only because Perriloux hasn't had a shot...and Tebow hasn't played a whole game yet.

As far as McFadden being a better passer than Tebow...that's laughable...the only passes I've seen McFadden complete are little dump passes and "lofting" slants to wide-open WR...Tebow's threaded the needle several times in his short time at QB.

I think this is a really dumb question just beacuse Tebow has not played an entire season yet. Let him play all of next year and then we will see. And we can't really compare a RB with a QB. I agree with GH, it is like comparing Rice and that QB from LSU( his name is too hard to spell). You have to compare to players from the same positions to get the impact.

Yea...one of our WR, Caldwell, is 3-3 with 2 TDs...so, I guess he's better than Tebow too.

You have to look at Tebow's HS #s because that's where he was less than a year ago...yes, the SEC ain't HS, but Tebow has thrown 2 TD passes against one of the better teams in the SEC...the one that just beat Arky, btw.
