The LSU/ARK game is today (Friday) at 2:30.
There are many reasons to watch this and the SECCG this year if you are an SEC fan.
First off, understand that the media has insured that an SEC team won't be in the BcS Title game. That makes these two top SEC matchups our own version of the true Championship game.
Make no mistake about it, watching these heavyweights battle will be just as exciting as watching some watered down version of a rematch between OSU and Michigan. What happens if Michigan wins BTW? Are they the TRUE Champion since their record against OSU would be 1-1 or is there the possibility of a shared Championship?
How about SoCal? The media darling. They may beat Notre Dame and leapfrog Michigan in the BcS so we can avoid that tired rematch that noone outside of the Northeast cares one iota about. But if that happens, is it really much better? I think most fans are tired of the media hyping SoCal and Notre Dame every year and would love to see them overlooked for a change.
Arkansas vs Louisiana State - this is a true matchup between two very solid teams this year. LSU has struggled and lost a few games that they likely shouldn't have, but they are a legitimate heavyweight nonetheless. Can they slow down McFadden? Their defense is among the Nations best and we all know that if there is one thing going for LSU every year it is that their team is very quick. If LSU slows down McFadden (notice I didn't say stop because noone will stop him completely), then can the Razorbacks one dimensional offense find another way to score? Can the LSU Offense score on a tough ARK defense?
Why to watch? This game is among the best games you can watch all season. SEC fans should be anxiously awaiting 2:30 so we can see which team steps up and wants it the most. IMHO this game is too hard to pick a winner, so I won't. Tune in and find out why this game is a must see!
Arkansas vs Florida - the SECCG is always a great game to watch for SEC fans. Even if your team is nowhere to be found, a true SEC fan will want to watch the best of the East battle the best of the West.
Which team is better this season? Again, too tough to call. This game has more if's in it than you can shake a stick at. Leak is mistake prone and could easily cause the Gators to lose the game. Urban Meyer in his second season still hasn't proven to be much better tha Zook. Sure their record is better, but he has struggled at times and in a game in The SWAMP he was severely outcoached by an ex-Gator coach. Luckily for him and the Gator Nation that there is still a ton of Zook talent left over and the Gators ended up being a fingernail better than USC on that day. Make no mistake about it, with even remotely even talent a Spurrier lead team would have won that game by 2 TD's.
Why to watch? Inspite of my being critical of the Gators, they are a very solid team that is likely one player away from being in the National Championship game. They will have a tough time stopping McFadden, but may be ablt to slow him down since ARK is not that battle tested in being forced to throw the ball. USC proved that Florida can be thrown on almost at will, but can the ARK QB accomplish the same? Will Leak make a costly mistake and cost the Gators the game or will the Gators play the almost mistake free game it will take to knock off the Razorbacks? From a fan of a team that lost to both teams in close games, I think ARK has a decent advantage in this game, but still would be pressed to pick the winner. As with the ARK/LSU game, this is likely the best game the SEC will see this year. Neither team is likely to get a sniff at the Title game and whichever team makes the BcS is playing for runner up or bridesmaid anyway. Tune in to see why the SEC is the best conference in the land, but has no one dominant team that is worthy of the MNC!
