Should Mike Shula be released of his position as head coach of the Crimson Tide, a high profile coach would have to step in and step up.

Names being thrown around:
Nick Saban
David Cutcliffe
Rich Rodrigeuz
Bobby Petrino
Greg Schiano
Paul Johnson
Steve Spurrier

But what about John Gruden? He may be on his way out of Tampa Bay. His team can barely put a winning season together since their Super Bowl XXXVII win.

This is not a rumor, this is not fact, this is just a thought on my part.

John Gruden to Bama? That would set some fireworks off in the SEC.

It sounds good. It would be great to see Chuckie take over the Tide. He definetly would have discipline. He would make a great college coach. I am suprised nobody else mentioned that, it seems like every other coach has been mentioned.

you know you would have to believe that there is a search ongoing because of the lack of endorsement for shula. If they really wanted him to stay mal would have endorsed him immediately.

I agree. I could be wrong but I have said all along that I think he will be back.

Until yesterday I firmly believed that Shula would be back next year! So much so that I have stated so time and time again. Not so sure anymore. For what it is worth I am now of the opinion that unless the university is left without options the head coach will be replaced this year.

My top pick is Rich Rodriguez of WVU to replace Shula as the Head Coach. This man is a super coach. If Shula is replaced this will be our man. RTR!

You're a funny one. :glare:  I would not take Mike Price back for the sole reason of the reputation he left behind at Alabama.

I think that Shula could be fired. What Bama appears to be trying to avoid is the dabacle that happened several years ago when they were publicly rebuffed by several coaches. That was embarassing and demonstrated that at that time Bama was not perceived to be a great job. I think that they're putting out private feelers to see who they can get. If all the high profile guys say no, then Shula stays. Otherwise, he is gone. I really don't think it's about Mike Shula anymore. It's about Saban (who I don't think is going anywhere) and company and whether one of them wants to make the move.
