Well, you make some very good sense. In your paper analysis, Arkansas looks like they will blow LSU out. Below is how Arkansas and LSU did against common opponents:
Auburn: Arkansas defeated Auburn 27- 10. LSU lost to Auburn 7-3.
Tennessee: Arkansas beat Tennessee 31-14. LSU defeated Tennessee 28-24.
Ole Miss: Arkansas beat Ole Miss 38-3. LSU defeated Ole Miss 24-20 in OT.
Mississippi State: Arkansas beat MSU 28-14. LSU defeated MSU 48-17.
Alabama: Arkansas beat Alabama 24-23. LSU beat Alabama 28-14.
It is very impressive the way Arkansas blew out all the SEC teams they played including Auburn at Auburn.
But, this is SEC football, and this is Arkansas & LSU. You might want to keep this post as a reference to what you've predicted just in case this paper analysis comes back to bite you in the butt.

I forgot to throw in the Les Miles factor. That always starts the talented LSU bunch out at around a 9 point deficit.

Since entering the SEC Arkansas and LSU have played 14 times.
Average margin of victory: 16.8
Not exactly close games in the series, but just so that you don't think it was a couple of big blowouts contributing to this number:
Number of victories by less than 10 pts.: 3
Thats means only 21% of the time has this game been very close. Hence, the statement that 'this is SEC football, and this is AR & LSU' isn't really merited.
This may come back to bite me in the butt, but I have a good feeling about this one. And, I'll take a one point 10 overtime victory if it comes to that.

Since Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992, LSU holds an 8-5 mark against the Razorbacks; LSU is 7-5 in Little Rock.

Oh, this game is going to be great. I anticipate probably the best SEC game of the season when the Hogs and Tigers collide.
These stats are all impressive on both sides. Arkansas this season, and LSU's overall history against ARK.
This game is too close to call.
Key Players: LSU - Jamarcus Russell and Dwayne Bowe.
Key Players: ARK - Darren MCFadden and the ARK O-Line.

Can Less-U stop the Hog running game? That's it. That's the question.....because the Tigers, I think, are tops in the nation in pass defense (efficiency?), so Mustain will have trouble in the passing game. Arkansas must have success on the ground, as we all know....
Gonna be a great game, and, for obvious reasons, I'm pulling for Arkansas.

Mustain hasn't played since the first quarter of the USC game so I don't think he will be a big factor.
You are right in that we have to establish some play action early to keep the Tigers from stacking the box. That and shutting down JR, Bowe, Deucet, ect will be the keys to the game IMO.
Just got to Little Rock this morning for Turkey Day and the game tomorrow.

Less than an hour until the game starts. The players are on the field for their warmup. I'm listening to the pre-game show on Baton Rouge radio and it sounds like the Tigers have come to play. They had a great short week of practice, flew to Little Rock yesterday after a Thanksgiving meal at LSU, and seem very focused and intent. If they stay focused, make no mistakes, and play up to their ability, the porkers could be in for a long day. On the first few McFadden runs, they need to hit him like a Mack truck, get his attention, and make him aware that these are the kind of hits he's going to receive all day. Same for Felix Jones. And when McFadden lines up in the QB position, they need to be even more aggressive.

I am asking for Razorhead's opinion of the current state of Arkansas football.
Given that Razorhead is a valued fan for Arkansas then his opinion should be viewed by all SEC fans here.
I really don't understand your objection to this since it does you absolutely no harm. And we should read what other SEC fans have to say.
I will make a pact with you however, if you don't read my posts, then I will overlook yours whenever I see it.

I had given up on you Zud. The state of Arkansas football is better than it has been for some time, despite the naysayers. We have the leading Heisman candidate returning along with arguably the second best back in the SEC in Felix Jones. The defense will be sound under Reggie Herring again. QB is still an issue, however we won't be any worse at that position. I for one am glad that the whiners from Springdale are gone. Sure Mustain won 8 games as a starter, but most of that was due to the defense. The Alabama game certainly was. Much of the younger fan base in AR are calling for Nutt's head. I'm no Nutt lover, that's for sure, but I also don't see how you can fire someone after a banner year.
The new offensive coordinator will throw the ball more, but McFadden will still be the focus of the offense. He should be. Disenchanted Hog fans who are still in love with Gus Malzahn should get a one way ticket to Tulsa and root for mid major in a mediocre conference.
In summary, the state of the football team is much better than the state of the fans. Don't judge the team by it's fan based message boards.

I understand that he gets the most of what he has but why doesn't he get more to begin with? While I'm on it...I'm not sold on his coaching adjustments during the game.
Who can argue with the success that he had this year? But the meltdown has me thinking that he is a marked man and it is only a matter of time.
He made a deal with the devil to get the Springdale 5 and he didn't live up to the deal and they walked. I had the impression that he had to have them to save his job.
Your o line and your rb's were simply fantastic. But I can't see a champion being one dimensional.

The reason why I suggested private msgs was because it seemed like days passed between one of you posted a question, and the other responded with an answer. I don't know how frequent either of you visit this site, maybe when you do, the first thing you do is check this thread. My reasoning was, if the reason so many days were passing between responses was because the thread was being forgotten, then if you PM, a notice that a PM was sent would pop up for that member the second he logs on - at least it does for me.

Like I said, I'm no Nutt lover. I was at the game in Little Rock. I was one of many screaming run the freaking ball on the last series! 4 straight deep passes after completing 3 all day? That was absolutely stupid.
As far as recruiting, Nutt is not very good. The QB from Texarkana was ready to commit as a junior but backed off because he didn't want to go where Mustain went. Next year will be a banner year. The high school that produced Shawn Andrews has 4 top 250 recruits. All of them are coming to Arkansas. Including a QB and RB. We have to do well in state. Malzahn and his kids were a cancer. Damian Williams had a lot of balls thrown his way and dropped about half of them. The crybaby wanted to go and he has. I hope he sits the bench at USC for 3 more years. Same goes for Mustain. The email was ridiculous, but he had done this to himself long before that.
I believe Nutt's days are numbered. However, I also believe McFadden and Jones are good enough to bail him out for at least another year or two. It won't hurt my feelings to see him go.

I don't think anyone was offended. I visit this board more often during football season, but it is basically a forum for Gamecock fans to plead their case for respect to the rest of the SEC (and before I get jumped I didn't say they don't deserve it, they do). So I don't post that often. And quite frankly, the basketball team has been such an embarrasment that I'm afraid to read the smack being talked about us.

I understood your response the minute I read it. I haven't questioned your response or your reasoning behind your response, so for you to think that I haven't read them or by implication suggest that I don't understand, I don't get how you come to that conclusion.
I just tried to explain the reasoning behind my first post with my second, based on the STRONG tone I got from your post that suggested you were offended, so that you could better understand. True. The O-Line always seems to be good. We must have one decent coach on the hill.
I don't think the DB's will be as bad as we think. Grant should come back from his injury, and Hewlitt was moved back to safety after Freddy Fairchild came back this spring. I look for the defense to be pretty good.
Our obvious problem is at QB.

That's absolutely the only thing that I remember from high school English and I've been waiting all these years to use it in a meaningful way.

I see the Hogs doing quite well. I see 9 or 10 wins with Nutt losing one he shouldn't (probably UK) and winning one he shouldn't (Auburn). I hate to predict an outcome in the LSU game. I think Russell was the difference last year. I really did expect us to win that game. I'd like to think we have a shot this year, but who knows...I'm not sticking my neck out this early.

Now, I know that the rb's are super!
But what I wonder about is the oline. Will it continue to be good?

Coach Markuson has always found a way to put out a very good offensive line. I don't think this year will be any different.

Every year, it seems like "we're losing our veteran OLine"; but the next year it always winds up being one of our strong points...
I expect nothing different this year... DMac and Felix will both get well over 1,000 yards again... #1 and #2 in the SEC again.

I don't think they will be able to pull off that feat again (#1 and #2). I think there are some very talented running backs in the SEC this year that could all run for over 1,000 yards.

OK...then what about the negative off season for HDN?
Will it affect the regular season or the game with LSU?

If anything I think it will drive him to succeed even more. Who wouldn't want to go out and stuff it down some of these critics' throats?
As someone else so put it, "there is no turmoil inside the program, there is turmoil surrounding the program." The vast majority of players love Nutt and will play hard for him. I see Arkansas having an amazing year and Nutt riding off in the sunset somewhere he can be appreciated.

I agree... There is a ton of new young talented backs in the SEC this year, but why would things be different for Felix and Darren?
I guess the real question, would be "who do you see beating out Felix for the #2 spot"? I assume we will all concede the #1 spot going to DMac, barring any injury...

If I had to pick just one back right now that would break 1,000 and pass Felix Jones, I would pick Keiland Williams from LSU. However, it could aslo be Brad Lester, Kestahn Moore, Hardesty of Tennessee, Knowshon Moreno or Anthony Dixon.

everything was in place last year for the hogs. that feat will be hard to duplicate as another poster said. i'm not sold on the rebuilding OLine bit either. the loss of those three guys on the OLine will haunt ya'll this year IMO. that being said, DMac wins the Heisman and will be the #1 pick in the NFL draft.

It could early on, but if Nutt continues to win the voices of the Razorback faithful will finally drown out those of the Springdale High School faithful. I for one am so sick and tired of this crap around here. I hope the guy who requested the phone records, the guy who filed the lawsuit, Mustain, his momma, and Damian Williams all go down in flames.

Looking at this video reminds me again of how good McFadden is. He makes people miss tackles time and time again. His vision, ability to cut, and speed are unbelieveable. There isn't anyone as good as him.

One thing that I was suddenly reminded about, was LSU's recievers... JR was a beast, but these guys were probably underrated....

Thanx for noticing lLandonhog as both those recievers went in the first round of the draft bringing the total to 4 LSU first rounders.
Looks like other people besides you noticed.
