I made a thread for the Player of the Year already. So, now it's time to predict which SEC head coach should get the bid for SEC COTY.

Candidates from all 12 schools in alphabetical order:
1. Alabama - Mike Shula (doubt it)
2. Arkansas - Houston Nutt (My Choice)
3. Auburn - Tommy Tuberville
4. Florida - Urban Meyer (One of the best coaches in College Football)
5. Georgia - Mark Richt
6. Kentucky - Rich Brooks (Very Likely candidate)
7. LSU - Les Miles
8. Mississippi - Ed Orgeron
9. MSU - Sylvester Croom
10. South Carolina - Stever Spurrier (2005 SEC COTY)
11. Tennessee - Phil Fulmer (I'd give it to Cutcliffe instead  )
12. Vandy - Bobby Johnson

Last year Steve Spurrier won SEC COTY, but I believe that Mark Richt and Mike Shula were more deserving candidates. It's not that SS wasn't a deserving candidate, I don't know what the criteria is, but 7-5 with a bowl loss doesn't get me excited. But I digress. SS is the better of those three coaches this season, IMHO.

Nutt in a landslide. While some predicted the Hogs would beat out Bama for third in the west, no one that I know of gave them a realistic shot a reaching the championship game. Kudos to Urbam Meyer for fighting thru a rugged schedule and to Bobby Johnson for making his team competitive, but what Nutt did is simply amazing.

Les Miles for SEC coach of the year.. ROFL. Les Miles wasn't even coach of the year for the state of Louisiana.

Nutt will win it no matter what happens Saturday or in the SEC CG...

I believe if the Gators win the SEC CG...Meyer will be more deserving, like Shula and Richt from last year...but Nutt basically won it when he spanked Auburn and beat UT...

His team is ahead of your team in the SEC West standings. That has to count for something.

Negative, Auburn (6-2) is ahead of LSU (5-2). Not to mention we beat LSWho?.

You'd be hard pressed to find 25/100 LSU fans who think Les Miles is coach of the year. Especially the ones on this site.

Whoops! My bad. But still, LSU is a good team, though I haven't followed Les Miles' ventures this season. But it doesn't matter, Houston Nutt will probably edge Urban Meyer for the COTY anyhow.

Nutt is a shoe-in, but the reason Les Miles has no chance is because of all the talent he has at LSU that he has basically not been able to pull together. This recent Ole Miss episode had the guys over at tigerdroppings in an outrage. If you want a few laughs, stop by over there and check out the Ole Miss game thread. Bring a French-English dictionary though.

I am a member of TigerDroppings, but under a different name. I've yet to venture over there to the football boards, but I'm sure it's not a pretty sight.

Yeah...no one in Baton Rouge is really happy with Miles right now. People are pissed because of the onside kicks, faked punts...etc, that we missed, they don't understand why players like Broussard, Williams, and Scott aren't getting playing time but he continues to play Justin Vincent who does nothing. They also think he isn't agressive enough, probably because everyone got used to Saban screaming in the official's faces on bad calls.

I don't think Meyer deserves it even if UF wins the SECC. Houston Nutt's hogs have suprised the nation.

Nah, I think Meyer deserves it, he just won't get it. Definitely Nutt.

I am going to have to go with the majority. Houston Nutt should get this award. I personally thought he may have been on the hot seat before this year. The offense was supposed to good if they could pick it up in the passing game,

The defense is where I think they made the most improvement. They seemed to get better and stronger as each week progressed

Hey guys ya'll are forgetting about one deserving coach, Sylvester Croom. In his three years here he has had 9 wins. THAT IS HUGE! He gets my vote. When pigs fly he gets it.

My vote would go to Brooks.....

Anybody that starts the season in purgatory and walks out alive and with a bowl invite. He gets my vote. He must be made of teflon.....

In that case I vote Shula.

You could make a case for Brooks, Nutt, or Meyer.

Meyer was expected to win. Just because he lived up to expectations doesn't mean he shouldn't be considered.

Nutt had a good team back. CFN predicted a 9-3 season for the Hogs. I thought they should do that good as well. Nutt is just as deserving as Meyer.

Brooks coaches Kentucky. That should rule him out for any award having to do with football. Now that basketball season has begun, does anyone really care about a bowl game anyway?

Settle it on the field. Nutt vs. Meyer Dec. 2. Winner takes the award.

Yeah, Houston Nutt wins easily.

The worst? Well, Les Miles has done less with more, that's for sure. But the all time winner (considering credulity, sportsmanship, trustworthiness, etc.) is sleazebag Tommy Tuberville. The man wins some football games but is a complete farce as a human being.

Trustworthiness? Did he sleep with you and never call you back? LOL.. I mean come on.. so the guy holds up some fingers after games, smokes a cigar, and campaigns for the SEC/AU to get some credibility. He's not hitting up strip clubs/paying players/attacking other SEC programs. In fact, he's easily the biggest disciplinarian in the SEC, and probably one of the top 10 in college football. He might showboat a little, but so did Spurrier and others.

Coach of the year (2006)? No. Complete farce as a human being? Certainly not.

The one thing that bothers me about Tuberville is the raising of the fingers. Of course when Ark beat Texas, Houston turned the Longhorn's fist upside down. That bothered me too. But this season, Nutt has SEC COTY written all over him. Him or Urban Meyer and Rich Brooks (a sleeper choice, imho).

Tubs is a great coach, he knows how to win. But, he's still the opposition. So when there is any chance to be critical of the man, I'll take it. But that's just common rivalry etiqutte.
