ever won 62-0 and dropped in the polls?? it is amazing how much influence the media is having on this. almost like they just had to wait 1 week b/f they could jump usc so it wouldnt look so bad.

i know they played w carolina, but pitching a shutout and scoring 62 points against air is pretty darn good.

I agree that 62-0 against ANYBODY should mean a lot.

We all know that the media gets its way more than the fans that are the ones watching the games.

I was really hoping Florida would get bumped to #2. They're not my favorite team but I would rather see them in the NC than the others in the running.

if it weren't western carolina it would probably mean a little more.... I follow D-IAA and the SoCon, so I know how bad that team is

WCU really sucks...no doubt...last Saturday isn't a gauge of how "good" the Gators are...now, with all the freshman puttin' on a show, it shows a lot about the future of the Gators...but blues point I think centers around that, even when an SEC team wins big...vs anyone, we have little chance to impress the pollsters....look at ND...they've had several close games vs unranked teams...Michigan State comes to mind, yet they don't lose a point...Michigan is taken to the limit by Ball State and a horrible Illinois team loses a close one to OSU...neither team lost a point. Yet, UF can win "close" games to a very well coached USCe team or a "bipolar" UGA team and it's called "un-impressive" wins...doesn't make sense to me. I hear what yer screamin', blues.

the point isnt so much about who we played or the final score....it is that it was pretty obvious that no matter what florida did last saturday, they were going to drop in the polls. im not sure i have ever seen a team pitch a shutout and drop in the polls.....

I see your point...but the Gators have been criticized all season by the ESPN "talking heads" as well as our SEC breathren because we've failed to "spank" any of the big SEC teams...as far as the SEC is concerned...a win is a win. But the fact that we played and beat the crap out of a horrible Div.II team will not give us any "clout". It shouldn't have hurt us...but it did because our usual annual fight with f$u has lost some steam because of f$u's terrible record.

Now you know I loves ta hate me some Gators, but that's crap.

At the beginning of the year, Florida was considered a darkhorse because they had a "brutal" schedule. Now, they have beaten all those teams, except for Auburn and they aren't getting the respect that most people thought they would be due. If their schedule was "brutal", why aren't they giving more love? Fine, fine, I get it. USC plays a great out of conference schedule. Whoopty friggin do. They have to, because their IN conference schedule sux the big one. Florida played all the BIGGIES in the SEC this year. That's tougher than any OOC I know of. Florida, and the SEC, is getting screwed this year. Again.

When Spurrier was there, the "talking heads" tried to remove margin of victory from consideration when ranking teams. It seems that it is slowly being brought back - but only for non-SEC teams.

Gators suck.
(sorry, I just had to throw that in there)

And we did it with our third-, fourth-, and fifth-teamers, too.

Herbstreit has us 7th in his poll, I think. Let the sabotage begin.....
