While reading posts from Arkansas fans on sectalk.com, Steve Spurrier decided that there is no point in playing the game this week. The Arkansas team will take a trip to Myrtle Beach to hang out at the Pavillion while the Gamecocks will be watching highlight films of Bear Bryant vs. Shug Jordan games. In place of the game, there will be a full contact tackle intramural game between the girls of Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta.

Can I get seats on the 50 for the game? And will it be a "scantily clad" uniform???

Did you know they closed the Pavillion for good back in september?? Burroughs & Chapin sold the property I think or are developing it themselves, either way, that area is gonna be condos now....

Yes, I knew that, but you do not have to let the Arkansas people know that.

We went last summer. It was a bittersweet memory. My folks have a time share at a Burroughs and Chapin development, and they had some sweet passes for the Pavillion as part of the deal...all day basically free. It was awesome for the kids, especially on an overcast, otherwise-non-beach-friendly day.
I'm sorry to see it shut down. It will rob the heart of MB, as far as I'm concerned, when they put up another condo development (which I think is slated to go there).

it is a shame. Myrtle beach doesnt need anymore Condos or Hotels. although ive lived in South Carolina my whole life and grew up going to Myrtle Beach every Summer, i have never been to the Pavilion or a Hotel in Myrtle beach. we always stayed in a beach house our Camped in Ocean Lakes.

OK guys, the point of this thread is not the Myrtle Beach Pavillion. The point is that except for one or two decent Arkansas fans on this site, most of them are so certain that they are going to win the SEC West that the South Carolina game is a gimme.
I beg to differ.
I was proud of our boys in the UT game. They outplayed them for the most part. More first downs, more yardage, yada yada yada. Three bad bounces for us made all the difference. From what I can tell, UT is a much better team that Ark. The Arkansas faithful better be getting ready for a disappointing weekend.
(Oh, yeah, part of this thread was about the Ill Repute Bowl.)

Hey bro, exactly which group of our fans are saying that we are certain that we will win the SEC West or are considering the USC game this weekend a gimmie? If you will actually read some post instead of making stupid threads you would learn that 99% of our fans consider this our third toughest game left on the schedule and a must win if we are to have any shot at earning a spot in Atlanta.
Why don't you give some actual reasons for your prediction this weekend.
Here I'll start you off:
First, YOU ARE NOT PLAYING TENNESSEE THIS WEEKEND and you lost for more reasons than the "three bad bounces." I swear USC fans could put a postitive spin on getting the crabs. Look, Different teams cause different match up problems. Tennessee is first in the league in passing offense and are 10th in the league in rushing offense. That means the vols rely heavily on the pass game. USC is third in the league in passing defense. Hince, the game was close. If Tennessee and Arkansas decided to switch players and jerseys this weekend than "we played within a touchdown of Tennessee would carry some weight." Since your not, that argument is moot.
Second, we are first in the league in rushing offense eventhough McFadden nor Felix Jones have played past the third quarter since the Auburn game. South Carolina is 9th in the league in rushing defense. Add in the fact that USC hasn't played a prodominat rushing team this year and things start to look bleak for the cocks.
Third, your offense is ranked 5th in the league in passing. As was stated earlier your claim to fame is your 3rd ranked pass defense. Arkansas is ranked fourth just behind you at averaging 3.8 yards more a game. Oh and our defense has been passed on 50 more times than yours and we average a yard and a half less per completion, so that stat maybe misleading.
Fourth, we have a Butkus award finalist linebacker we can leave to spy on Newton who is comming off a concussion. We he scrambles he will be hit.
Fifth, we are on a 7 game win streak and since the Alabama game we have outscored our opponents 172 to 30.
I could continue, but that is enough for now.
So if you have a legitimate NON SPURRIER related reason why the Arkansas faithful will be disapointed this weekend please feel free to bring it to the table. I'll be more than happy to debate any reasonable theory you have for why you are going to win Saturday. If you can't why don't you STFU until you can think of one.

I'm saying it more than likely Arky will beat USC pretty easily because we can't stop the run.

Your rant just confirmed my whole point. Thanks for backing me up. According to you, there is no reason to play the game. You already have marked it down as a win. Glad you are having a good season. You have some tough games ahead of you, including USC, but I know that you don't believe that.

Whatever dude, like I said earlier I consider this a tough game, but I'm not going to go out of my way to over hype your program because they haven't earned any hype this season. I never said we were going to win eventhough you stated that our fans were going to be disappointed this weekend. I just asked you to offer an explanation for your theory and obviously you don't have one eventhough I offered several in rebutle. So why don't you quit dancing around the question and give me some reasonable explanations on why you think you will win.

Maybe the ARK fans aren't considering USC a lock, but they sure are mor confident than most of the TN fans seemed to be before the game last w/e.
Not sure why that is.......

Everybody has their opinion about who'll win, and 90% of the time it <sarcasm> just happens </sarcasm> to be their favorite team. Nothing new or interesting about it.
And if you think it's been more prevalent in the Ark fans than the SC fans... others think just the opposite and that's another thing we're divided on according to team.

I don't think this game is a for sure win, but I do see us being the better team and I also see us taking the West this year. There are more reasons we SHOULD than SHOULDN'T if you ask me.

Myrtle Beach sucks. I would be happy if a huge storm blew away the entire city, (with no loss of life, of course). Then rebuild it with some planning in place to actually make it appealing, rather than gaudy. Nobody with any class actually wants to go to MB. It's awful. It's the Gatlinburg of the SC coast. Ugh.
But anyway....GO COCKS!!!

I wouldn't exactly say that......although I don't venture into MB during the summertime as much as I used to, but that's to be understood as I'm not that young anymore. I do miss the off-season months when you could drive through the grand strand and hardly pass any other traffic. But there was always some places to avoid and others to frequent, depending on your tastes. I can still enjoy myself in MB........

For what it's worth, most of the Arkansas posters are confident about their team, which they should be, but there are a few like Gohogsgo and goallthewayua that are already making plans for a trip to Atlanta in December. There are a number of Arkansas fans (AFWarrior83, Pigkahuna, and others) that I consider to be class acts and represent the Razorbacks well. However, there are a few (TDArkansasOhMY) that are true embarrassments. We have a few of those on the Gamecock side as well.
Let's just play the game. There are no gimmes. Anything can happen on Saturday night. I, for one, feel very good about our Gamecocks, but I have not said that we are a definite win. It should be a great game.

Agreed, There are no gimmes but there are better teams.. I never doubt USC's playing abilities even if they arent ranked. Ranks have nothing to do with how they will play on any given day.. What if the USC boys come out more motivated than the Hogs.. then we have a USC win ... Which I do hope they come out swinging :P i dont want no pansy game..
and yes.. arkansas has good, medium, and just all out annoying fans. but all teams do..
can we please stop pointing out our sore eye?

I'm sure I will get dogpiled by SC fans for saying this, but it's really just a legitimate question. Where has Rice been this year? Is it just a case of sophomore slump, is he hurt, or what? I expected to see his plays all over sportscenter after last years performance.

he isnt hurt...we have a dual threat at qb nows, who won't only throw to rice, but will throw to other wrs....i would love to rice thrown to more, but i am happy mckinely and our other wrs have stepped their games up and made plays when we need them...this year isn't over, i wouldn't be suprised if rice gets over 100 yrds in one of these last games...

Man, I swear you are like talking to a little kid. Where have I ever stated that I even THINK we are going to earn a trip to Atlanta this season? Hell, I've never even elluded to it. So here we go again, since you can't come up with any plausable reasons why USC will win this weekend you start babbling about nonsense, but for the record, here it is AGAIN:
I DO NOT THINK ARKANSAS HAS EARNED A PLACE IN ATLANTA. ASK ME AGAIN IN TWO WEEKS.
I THINK THE GAME THIS WEEKEND IS GOING TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, BUT I EXPECTED US TO WIN AND IF WE WIN IT DOES NOT PUT US IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. SCORE PREDICTION 38-20.

I never said this is a lock. This will be a game where we either make our statement for the final run or peter out early and go home. I choose to be optimistic and hope that we make a big statement against a team that hasn't had many games get away from them. A big win over SC this weekend would say a lot about our program. A loss wouldn't be devastating but would certainly slow down momentum. It's going to be a tough game, but i believe, as you do, that my team will win, nothing wrong with that.

I'll give that one a shot. Although heck an offensive coordinator may play into the outcome of a football game. I think I have seen several Arkansas fans touting yours isn't that correct. But beyond that, here is the scoop. Our run defense is highly underrated. The emergence of our young offensive linemen who have begun to step up has overshadowed the fact that our D-Line has improved tremendously in recent weeks particularly between the tackles. We have a pretty solid MLB as well who can do a bit of shadowing and has already knocked a few QB's out. Our pass defense is actually a bit overrated and therefore that is your best chance. You have good size at receiver, i don't know about the speed as I haven't seen a lot of your passing game as the run has been so effective. Our DB's have a tendency to overestimate their recovery speed against faster receivers. This was a big problem at UT. This is an area that could be exploited if your young QB can do it. I think with Norwood and the Brinkley's a Freshman QB will have trouble doing this. Since you seem to have an passion for stats why don't you take a little time and look at how far up the ladder our offense moves in both rushing and passing (averages) if you look only at the games with Syvelle under center. There is quite a difference. By the way if you think the breaks we got on our first offensive play and UT's first offensive TD didn't play into the outcome Saturday I don't consider you a very bright football fan. Find me any college football fan who does not feel spotting a higher ranked opponent 14 points wouldn't effect the outcome of the game and I think we can put a mentally challenged shirt on him. Also with Whiteside taking a bigger part in the offense this week, Sidney RIce, Kenny McKinley, the speed of Mike West, and Freddie and Moe Brown, and the raw talent of Jared Cook, I don't think you have seen a more talented group of receivers since you played another USC, how did that turn out for you. See you Saturday.
