No, Screw you Murtha Fokker
ALERT: Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) was wrong when he said on May 17, 2006, that American Marines at Haditha, Iraq, "killed innocent civilians in cold blood" last November, despite the fact that not a single Marine has been charged, not a single court-martial has been convened, and not a single soldier has been convicted for any action taken that day in Haditha.
Rep. Murtha, of all people, should know how important is the presumption of innocence until guilt is proven -- if it hadn't been for that essential principle of the American legal system, his congressional career might well have ended 26 years ago, when he was caught up in the biggest congressional corruption scandal in American history: Abscam.
Labeling U.S. Marines murderers before any of them have been charged, let alone convicted, was wrong.
Rep. Murtha has had ample opportunity to acknowledge his error and apologize. He has repeatedly refused to do so.
And then he went even further and demanded that we "cut and run" from the War on Terror.
This is an issue that transcends partisan politics. It's not a question of Democrat vs. Republican, nor even a question of liberal vs. conservative. This is a question of basic fairness, and support for our troops.
Our troops shouldn't have to worry about defending their reputations at home while they're defending our freedoms overseas.
We need to tell John Murtha to "cut and run" from Congress. Will you help?
TAKE ACTION: The far-left group, MoveOn.org, has organized a nationwide phone bank for their liberal candidates in the Nov. 7th election. With their "Call for Change" program, according to their website, their plan is "to organize the largest grassroots phonebank in [the] nation through Operation Democracy, MoveOn's network of local volunteer leaders. Between now and Election Day, MoveOn members from New York to New Iberia will make over 5 million phone calls into 30 highly competitive congressional districts plus selected Senate races."
Last week, MoveOn.org sent out a letter from John Murtha, where he responded to critics of his "cut and run" policies with the words, "screw them." Real nice.
This is what we're up against with MoveOn.org-backed candidates like Murtha.
Right now, John Murtha is in the tightest race of his life, against staunch conservative Republican Diana Irey. The RightMarch.com PAC is doing everything we can to help her win in November -- but there's more that needs to be done...
... And YOU can help counter MoveOn.org's efforts NOW:
You can make phone calls to voters in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District right from the comfort of your own home.
That's right -- phone volunteers no longer have to drive to a central calling location to do their volunteer phone banking.
In addition to making life for the local volunteers easier, this also means supporters who don't live in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District can make phone calls for Diana's campaign!
The Irey campaign the first U.S. House campaign in the country to implement this cutting-edge technology, and they're counting on it -- and you! -- to help them offset John Murtha's special interest fundraising advantage.
