I didn't know if you guys follow Bama recruiting that much. I really don't but I heard at my high school's homecoming game last night that WR Chad Keys from St. Paul's School in Louisiana was pretty much decided on going to Bama. Keys isn't highly rated on Rivals or Scouts, but he should be.
Here are some quick stats on Keys:
- His team is 8-0 and ranked in the Top 5 in the State in 5A
- He led the State of Louisiana in every receiving category after Week 7.
- His team is a heavy run-favoring offense, as well, which makes this feat all the more impressive.
- The RBs are on pace to rack up a combined 3000 yards by the end of Week 10. Keep that in mind when you see that Chad is the #1 WR statistically in the state.
- He is playing in what is widely accepted as the toughest all around District in the State.
- He leads the state in TDs.
- He leads the state in Rec. Yards
- He leads the state in YPC.
Personally, I'm not sure how good he'll be when he gets into college. He is a hell of an athlete, but I just don't know how much success he will have at the next level. He's 6-1 185lbs.
If any of you Bama fans have heard anything about this let me know.

To be honest with you I'm not sold on his next level ability. The kid is an absolute stud in high school, to be sure, I'm just not sure how well he will be able to carry over into college.
He's actually averaging a TD catch every 2.75 catches and he has had 5 TD catches of 75+ yards this season.

Here is a link to Chad's Rivals page:

I haven't seen the videos up there, because I don't subscribe to Rivals. I know the rushing and passing statistics listed for his junior year are wrong, because I'm positive that he never lined up at RB or QB. Also, Chad used to play corner but was switched to WR to help our offensive production. It has been a great switch for him, even though he was All-District in his freshman and sophomore seasons as a CB. Also the height listed there is definitely incorrect. Chad is borderline between 6'1 and 6'2.

We've got a couple of (supposedly) talented ones redhirted this season and have one commit from Jermaine Mckenzie out of Florida and should sign Brandon Gibson our of Mobile as well. They could sign one additional WR, but I haven't heard this Keys' name yet. Who knows though?

I haven't heard it from any Bama fans, but I've heard it from the kid himself. Bama has put out an offer to him and right now that's where he thinks he'll end up. He wasn't too highly recruited last year because we were basically just a running team. He put together some good numbers when you take that into consideration. I know for a fact that he had LSU and Miami scouts at one of his games last year. As far as I know he hasn't received an offer from either of those schools yet. His numbers this year are very improved and he worked out a lot harder this summer which has really helped him. He is going to make the 5A All State Team in Louisiana without question. I know right now that he has offers from Bama, Southern Miss, Central Florida and a few other smaller D-IA schools. I'll keep you guys posted.
