As a guitarist and lead singer, I try to focus more on the actual music than a band's stance on certain issues. I would rather appreciate them for their musical qualities than their political views. There are plenty of bands that I like, but disagree with on political issues and what not. Just thought I would throw that out there.

I have always viewed the Gallagher brothers, outside of music, as a couple of guys who say and do what the want no matter what people think. That is why I said "regardless of what people think", because I have always appreciated Noel Gallagher's talent as a very underrated songwriter and musician. Back on topic:

I play, too. Here's my guitar room. I'm guitar-broke (Ibanez, Taylor, Les Paul, Strat, etc.) I played for a few years with an Orlando band called Big Bad Willie. We opened for some big people; played the Orlando House of Blues many times, as well as Hard Rock and MANY bars. Gave it up about five years ago.

Always nice to hear of new fans! Most people know them for the song "Stars" which was overplayed in the mid-90s. It can now be heard at the end of the new Cadillac commercial with that Grey's Anatomy chick.

Thanks for the heads up on 120 Minutes too.

Speaking of 120 Minutes I just found this Hum performance from the show. Yes, after breaking up they did in fact all enter the fashion industry.

You're going to have so much fun. I've seen them twice and both times have been amazing. If you can take anything it will help a little but it is not necessary. Messed up or sober this is one of the best touring bands right now.

You were absolutely correct. They opened up with 'Race for the Prize' while giant balloons and confetti were falling from above. Easily one of the best shows I've ever been to.

Did they hand out laser pointers? Did they cover anything?

They did hand out a bunch of laser pointers but I unfortunately missed out on that boat. It was still awesome to witness.

I really can't complain about no laser pointer though because they were giving away free posters if you gave your info to Camel (who sponsored the show), but I got the very last poster at the end of the night and didn't even have to give them my name. I regret not getting the tour tshirt though on second thought.

They covered 'Mountain Side' from the Rolling Stones. I saw a youtube clip from a previous show and wasn't all that impressed, but in person it was really cool.

I fear change and therefore still enjoy getting cds for the cover art and whatnot. With that in mind I went for $6 for the download with full intent of buying the cd when it comes out next year.

Just remember when you order the download you're paying in pounds. So if you enter 10 that's really going to be around $20 US. Not trying to be condescending....just want to make sure no one makes that mistake.

I second that. Can't wait for the box set and I do applaud them for taking the route on distribution. Honestly I do not think Radiohead could make any music that I would ever dislike. Also I can't wait for the numbers to come in on how much they made off In Rainbows. Reading some boards, there were some people who only paid 1 penny for it which I found quite sad.

Rose Funeral isn't much like Amon Amarth. I love the drumming technique they use though. Just hardcore thrashy death sounds. I think Amarth is one of the greatest new bands. Just the mixture of melodic death + amazing lyrics drew me right in.
