Is that not typical of the bunch from Miami? You can look for the NCAA or the ACC to review the tape and do something.....I hope!
What do u think?

Doesnt surprise me. I think there should be some kinda of rule implemented so that schools can lose scholly's for these types of things. After what happened on the field a fight broke out in the stands, and people should be able to attend college football games without having to worry about getting caught up in a brawl. Then again, I guess theres another solution to that problem: Dont be a Canes fan:D

THUGS, Always have been and always will be until the NCAA cracks down on them.
UM has a long history of it. :thumbsdow :thumbsdow
At least SOS has laid down the law here at USC.
I don't think you'll see USC in another fight like the one at Calm & Son a couple of year’s back. At least I hope not!

well larry coker doesn't feel sorry about the fight...he didn't even apologize he said can we talk about the game... and miami's qb said they started and miami just finished it...so i think something will be done with coker also in this and something should be done with him and the rest of the coaches...

This was ugly and I am so thankful that no SEC team was involved in this. It is a black eye on college football. These guys should be ashamed of themselves.

It really was sad to watch... apparently FIU initiated it, but watching 300LB Miami linemen running around like Achilles in Troy swinging there helmets and stomping people was embarassing. If Larry Cokers seat was hot before, it has literally incinerated and is in complete ashes now.

I agree....
This was absolutely disgusting. The real tell tale is if the ACC rejects a bowl bid like USC did back in 2004 after their brawl with Clemson.
If Coker isn't fired for this crap on Monday, then I will have lost ALL respect I had for Miami and the ACC.
FIU may have started the brawl, but clearing the bench and then cheering/dancing about it in front of the cameras was a touch much.
Apparently it's not limited to the UM players.
Even the announcers are thugs too. Check this out.

I bet they won't, since it's not the last game of the season.
The timing of the Clemson/USC fight in 2004 left both schools with little choice.

That announcer was obviously a former Miami player. What an idiot. I would be surprised if he doesn't get canned for that. Having an announcer encourage and glorify the fighting is unacceptable.

That announcer is a disgrace to his race and should be drug behind a horse with diarreah down a crush and run driveway into a pool of alcohol. After that, the company that was compensating him should cancel his check and charge him his hotel accomodations and any other courtesies that he was extended. Maybe he should've left the booth and gone down there so that he could be locked up and placed where he belongs.
Then somebody can take him outside, tie a wet leather belt around his head, stake him to the ground on his back and cut his eyelids off. Make sure that it's a nice, steamy, sunny day...

I'm wondering what the coaches said to them when they pulled them to the sideling. It obviously wasn't something that set them straight, because they were celebrating their victory in the fight afterwards.

Helmets, Crutches Used As Weapons During Football Brawl.
A wild brawl during the Florida International-Miami game Saturday night included players swinging helmets and even crutches as weapons, according to a Local 6 News report players were ejected -- eight from FIU, five from Miami, and each will likely face a minimum of one-game suspensions. Officials from both conferences, the Atlantic Coast and Sun Belt, are expected to review the game tape to determine if additional sanctions are necessary.
"It was something that neither of us wanted," Miami coach Larry Coker said.
Kyle Wright had three touchdown passes for the Hurricanes (4-2), while Lance Leggett had two TD catches -- one from Wright, the other from Kirby Freeman.
It was the first meeting between the programs, whose campuses are 9 miles apart and have rosters almost entirely filled with players from Miami-Dade and Broward counties, the two largest in South Florida. Tensions were high throughout the night, with several occurrences of heated words being exchanged after plays ended.
But those verbal jousts were nothing compared with what happened with 9:00 remaining in the third.
"It was a great game," FIU quarterback Josh Padrick said, "until 9 minutes left in the third quarter."
James Bryant caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Wright, then drew a 15-yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. After making the catch, he appeared to point at the FIU (0-7) bench, then took a theatrical bow toward the stands.
"It's not our fault," said Miami's Kenny Phillips, who had an interception. "Whatever it was, it wasn't us."
Moments later, Jon Peattie kicked the extra point for a 14-0 lead and the melee began; replays showed an FIU player crashing into Miami holder Matt Perrelli as the first of many blows. Pushing quickly turned into punches, both sidelines emptied and several fights broke out.
"I have no idea how it happened," FIU coach Don Strock said.
The brawl lasted about five minutes, and it took officials several more minutes to sort out the penalties. More than two dozen uniformed police officers came onto the field, trying to end the fights, and at least one incident of fan fighting broke out in the Orange Bowl stands.
"Shocked, anger, both, all the emotions," Coker said when asked about watching the melee. "College football doesn't need it, FIU doesn't need it and certainly we don't need it."
Police officers, including some wearing helmets, surrounded the field for the remainder of the game.
Florida International's ejected players were wide receiver Chandler Williams, defensive backs Lionell Singleton, Chris Smith and Marshall McDuffie Jr., fullback John Ellis, linebacker Mannie Wellington, tight end Samuel Smith and defensive end Jarvis Penerton.
"Whatever penalty is handed down, especially from us, we're going to make it the most severe," Strock said. "We don't condone that. It's embarrassing."
The ejected Miami players were offensive linemen Derrick Morse and Chris Barney, running back Charlie Jones, and cornerbacks Carlos Armour and Bruce Johnson.
"It's something they started," Wright said. "And our guys finished it. ... They're going home with a 35-0 loss and they're 0-7."
Police did not immediately announce if any fans were arrested. A holding area was set up at the Orange Bowl to detain anyone ejected and Miami police had between 80 and 100 officers at the game, officials said.
Shortly after the game, new FIU athletic director Pete Garcia -- who left his associate AD post at Miami this past week to join the Golden Panthers -- issued an apology on behalf of the university and its president, Mitch Madique.
Garcia said he'll evaluate what happened before deciding whether to continue the rivalry.
"They were gracious enough to grant us these games," Garcia said. "They didn't have to and this is how we repay them. I don't care whose fault it is. At FIU we don't condone this kind of behavior."

But yet Miami has a history of this type of behavior...and they even got into a brawl after getting STOMPED by LSU in the bowl game last year. If there was ever a case of repeat offenders Miami is it and if they ever get the death penalty for their football program the country will be a better place because of it.

This is an embarassment to CFB and the state of Florida...although, we don't really consider Miami in Florida...more like NW Cuba...
Don't be fooled, however, f$u is the same...last season, they nearly started a "riot" in Gainesville...it was Senior Day and some of the f$u players ran out onto the field during the ceremony...even though, they'd been asked to wait...3-4 of the players actually ran up to one of our OL as he was escorting his mother and asked..."Did you have fun F,king your mother last night?" as well as several other comments I wouldn't think of posting...needless to say, it almost came to blows...funny thing is, what goes around comes around...neither scUM or f$u is currently ranked.

As best I could, I have transcribed for you the color announcer's comments:
"Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout. You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into old OB (orange bowl?) playin' that stuff...you cross the ocean, you cross the city over there. You can't come over to our place talkin' noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. (pause) I was about to go down the elevator and get in that thing."
"I say why they don't just meet outside in the tunnel, after the ballgame, and just get it on some more. (pause) You don't come into the OB baby, we've had a down couple of years, but you don't come in here talkin' SMACK...not in our house."
Totally unacceptable from an announcer. About as unprofessional as I've ever heard. The guy is obviously a punk, just like the current Miami players.

Miami's Coker should lose job after brawl.
Michael Rosenberg / Special to FOXSports.com
Larry Coker said he doesn't have many bad days, and this was a bad day. It should also be one of his last days as head football coach at the University of Miami.
If you haven't seen the brawl between Coker's Hurricanes and Florida International, you are missing mayhem seldom seen in American sport. Vince McMahon must be jealous. This was the XFL on amphetamines.
When South Carolina and Clemson brawled in their annual rivalry game, the schools did the admirable thing and banned themselves from bowl competition that year. The Miami-FIU brawl made South Carolina-Clemson look like a thumb-wrestling match. Helmets were removed and used as weapons. Players tried to perform surgery with their cleats.
Frankly, it would be understandable if Miami wanted to cancel the rest of the season. But that wouldn't be fair to the Hurricanes' remaining opponents.
People can argue about who is more at fault here, FIU or Miami. But that's like asking whether a fire was started more by gasoline or a match. I have never seen a one-team brawl.
These are the same Hurricanes who got into a big scuffle after a bowl loss to Louisiana State and who stomped on the Louisville Cardinal logo at midfield before a game. The Hurricanes can't claim the high road now.
The culture around the Miami football program is one that embraces thuggery and excessive bravado. Coker didn't create it, but he has allowed it to fester. He recruited and coached every player on this roster. And what we saw Saturday was a group of players who had no respect for the fact that they represent their school — and no worries about repercussions from their coach.
(And if you want to say a lot of this applies to Don Strock's FIU squad, too ... well, no argument there.)
Apologists can defend stomping on a logo as "just kids being kids" or say that Coker had good intentions when he signed linebacker Willie Williams, who had been arrested 11 times before entering college. But the brawl is indefensible. And it makes you realize that the Hurricanes have been on a slippery slope for too long. Coker seems to be a nice guy, but he needed to be more than that. He needed to provide discipline for his program. And he didn't.
Stomping on logos and fighting in a stadium tunnel don't happen at every school, and that's why brawls don't happen very often. Coker doesn't seem to get that. After the game, Coker made one of the most astounding statements I have ever read from a coach:
"I think that it will affect the image of our program greatly, but in a positive way," he said, according to the Miami Herald. "I think that when they see the video and they see how it was handled they will be impressed with our players."
Coker seemed to think that his players looked good in comparison to the FIU players. He has since changed his tune and suspended at least eight players. But his initial comments are inexcusable. It doesn't matter if he thought FIU started it, or that his players behaved better. If your players are involved in a brawl, they didn't show nearly enough restraint, period.
Can you imagine Joe Paterno's players doing anything close to what we saw from Miami? Can you imagine Tyrone Willingham, in similar circumstances, defending his players like Coker did? I can't.
What is the point of having a football team if it so thoroughly embarrasses the university like the Hurricanes just did? Miami isn't some college-credit supermarket that needs big-time football to justify its existence. According to Business Week, the average SAT score for a Miami freshman is 1258. The students and faculty at Miami deserve better.
Coker was probably toast, anyway — since losing the Fiesta Bowl to Ohio State four years ago, his program has been on an undeniable decline. He would likely have lost his job either this winter or next for the same old reason: he didn't win enough. In that sense, his exit won't come much earlier than it would have. But it will be more shameful.

TV Analyst May Be Fired Over Comments
By TIM REYNOLDS
AP Sports Writer
October 16, 2006, 1:26 PM EDT
MIAMI -- Comments made by TV analyst and former Miami player Lamar Thomas during a sideline-clearing brawl involving the Hurricanes and Florida International will be edited out before the game is replayed later this week.
Thomas may also lose his job with Comcast Sports SouthEast, a regional cable network available in 5.5 million homes.
"We will take appropriate disciplinary action," CSS general manager Mark Fuhrman said Monday. The network will replay the game Wednesday.
Thomas made his comments as dozens of Miami and FIU players stormed the Orange Bowl field and fought during the third quarter of their teams' game Saturday night, an incident that led to the suspension of at least 31 players and forced officials from both schools to publicly apologize for the melee.
"Now, that's what I'm talking about," Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. "You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing."
Miami and Florida International have campuses 9 miles apart in Miami-Dade County. It was the first meeting between the two programs, and the Hurricanes went on to win 35-0.
As the fight slowed, Thomas' comments continued.
"I say, why don't they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more? You don't come into the OB, baby," Thomas said. "We've had a down couple years but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in our house."
A tape of the fight, including Thomas' comments, was available on the Internet on Sunday and Monday. The game was available for viewing Saturday night on a pay-per-view basis.
"We do not support or condone any of the comments that were made by Lamar," Fuhrman said.
Thomas was a third-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993 and spent six seasons in the NFL, three with the Bucs and three with the Miami Dolphins.
He has a Gainesville address, but there was no listed telephone number for him in that area. He could not be reached Monday.
Fuhrman said CSS will consult with Miami officials before determining what action should be taken.
"The university recommends talent for the broadcast, but we ultimately will make the decision," Fuhrman said.
