a few opinions after this weekend's slate:
1. i questioned a high school oc in the sec.....call me a believer(yeah, i'll eat some crow). malzahan's play calling is a big reason ark sits atop the sec west right now. it isnt that he has been extremely innovative(ark still rushed for damn near 300), but sometimes the threat is enough.
2. uf is playing extremely oppurtunistic football right now. they are making teams pay for mistakes....and pay with losses. btw, can we get a damn intentional grounding call???
3. lsu's secondary had awesome coverage all day yesterday(except the tebow pass). leak's #s were good, but he was throwing in tight spots for the most of the day.
4. auburn matches up well against florida's defense. they can run, and the short stuff has given uf fits all year. im worried about this one.
5. bama, what the hell??
6. ole miss, good win. a win against vandy used to not be reason for celebration, but take em when you can get em.
7. reggie nelson is the best safety in the ncaa....hands down. he made 2 plays yesterday that helped shape the outcome of that game. i've never seen a player be around the ball that much in times that matter. him, ryan smith, and tony joiner will look like lsu's across the board next year if they all stay. they are pretty damn good right now, though.
8. usce got a needed win against kentucky. wins like that are the ones you have to have to win 8-9 games in this league(the borderline ones).....losses like that gets you left out of bowl games.
9. lsu has as much or more talent than anybody in the league, but they make more bonehead mistakes than i have seen in a while. this usually goes back to lack of focus or lack of coaching.........take your pick.
10. i cant understand how the hell florida gets so many false start penalties at home. they have done much better on the road with the silent count. that was a pretty sloppy game on O yesterday, although there were bright spots.
11. tennessee is a damn good team...they might not lose again this year. florida is fortunate to get out of there with a win.
12. uga, if you would of said you would of scored 33 points i would of said "sure win". that was a "woodshed" ass whipping.
13. i'll be making my first visit to the plains this weekend.....hopefully it results in a joyful ride home.
14. (b/c i didnt want to end w/13).....aint it great to be a florida gator.

I concur on most of your opinions, as for the BAMA game? I don't think anyone knows what's going on in Tuscaloosa right now. I like to think that I'm an educated fan or at least I try my best to keep my hands to glued what's going on with BAMA.
Some of the comments by the players even seem to question whether or not the coaches are properly preparing them for games. Admittedly it is hard to gain, control, or motivate young people at times, but after such a lackluster performance it is cause for concern.
BAMA gets the win. That's a hard win to swallow.
Shula's staff gets out coached by a mile this weekend.
BAMA has talent but the coaching staff has yet to field a team in 2006 and its tough to watch.
Must be ready for OLE MISS.

Not sure I'm a believer yet: the Hogs still ran the ball 45 times out of 55 plays. I think Malzahn is lucky he has such a powerful running game on which to rely. That helps a lot with OC decision making.
2. uf is playing extremely oppurtunistic football right now. they are making teams pay for mistakes....and pay with losses. btw, can we get a damn intentional grounding call???
Totally agree.
3. lsu's secondary had awesome coverage all day yesterday(except the tebow pass). leak's #s were good, but he was throwing in tight spots for the most of the day.
Really? I thought we had lots of space all day. Leak's one mistake--the underthrown ball to Bubba--actually had Cornelius on that wheel route wide open down the sideline. The same play Leak would get later on, after he pump-faked that bubble screen. I thought Less-U's good coverage was beaten by our superior route running on Saturday, IMO.
4. auburn matches up well against florida's defense. they can run, and the short stuff has given uf fits all year. im worried about this one.
I think the opposite is true. I don't recall the barn having much of a deep game in the air, and that plays right into our strengths at DL and LB. Auburn will likely struggle running the ball, and we'll be able to jump those underneath routes because we'll already be up in run support. If the barn goes deep and makes us defend the entire field, then I think there's more need for concern.
5. bama, what the hell??
Ditto.
6. ole miss, good win. a win against vandy used to not be reason for celebration, but take em when you can get em.
Agreed.
7. reggie nelson is the best safety in the ncaa....hands down. he made 2 plays yesterday that helped shape the outcome of that game. i've never seen a player be around the ball that much in times that matter. him, ryan smith, and tony joiner will look like lsu's across the board next year if they all stay. they are pretty damn good right now, though.
And imagine what we'll look like if we land Turenne.... :D
8. usce got a needed win against kentucky. wins like that are the ones you have to have to win 8-9 games in this league(the borderline ones).....losses like that gets you left out of bowl games.
Yep, and Spurs is obviously getting frustrated that things aren't working out like he thought they would. If he stays on at USCE, he'll need more patience than even he thinks he can muster.
9. lsu has as much or more talent than anybody in the league, but they make more bonehead mistakes than i have seen in a while. this usually goes back to lack of focus or lack of coaching.........take your pick.
Yep. It was a little like f$u last year...with all of Booker's BS talk. I don't think Less-U thought we were worthy to share the field with them. Couple that overconfidence with the fact that Florida is playing great football right now with a solid gameplan and quality adjustments, and now it's much clearer as to why they lost.
10. i cant understand how the hell florida gets so many false start penalties at home. they have done much better on the road with the silent count. that was a pretty sloppy game on O yesterday, although there were bright spots.
I heard it was because of the cadences by different QBs.
11. tennessee is a damn good team...they might not lose again this year. florida is fortunate to get out of there with a win.
I always say it: it's a great benefit to play them early in the year. UT usually plays their best football later in the year....although, with the way Cal has been playing of late, maybe that's not the case this year.
12. uga, if you would of said you would of scored 33 points i would of said "sure win". that was a "woodshed" ass whipping.
Only the second time a team scored 50+ between the hedges (and we know the first time that happened). I guess the Colonel has a new #1 hated rival for a while, lol.
13. i'll be making my first visit to the plains this weekend.....hopefully it results in a joyful ride home.
Enjoy! And "work 'em silly" for us.
14. (b/c i didnt want to end w/13).....aint it great to be a florida gator.
SOOOOO great, lol.

#9 LSU is starting to remind me of TN last year. Every possible mistake in the book - and they keep on coming - from new unexpected places and old familiar ones
#11 Agree w/ you both. It always takes TN a month to decide where their strengths and weaknesses are - and FLA is long gone by then.

I think yal have the real Ainge locked up in Cuttcliff's basement and this season's "Ainge" is really a long, lost Manning brother.
Seriously, Ainge seems to finally be playing up to his talent level and you have three of the best wide receivers in the league. (Give Cuttcliff a lot of credit on that as well) Add a solid D and you have an awesome team. In fact I'm really not looking forward to our game this year.

Yeah, well, I'm not exactly ecstatic over travelling West of the Mississippi to wrangle w/ your bunch of Hogs, either...

I am not either. Despite a fabulous win, we showed considerable vulnerability in the first half against the run at UGA. Our young dee tackles had better grow up in a hurry or we won't have the depth to slow down the Hogs potent rushing attack or some of the other teams on our schedule. Our offense has been super, but we won't win the rest of them without a stronger showing from Chavis' bunch.

Fernando, wsup man?
While I'm in no way surprised, I'm super-impressed with the Vols this year. They've looked fantastic, especially on the offensive side. Our game in Fayetteville this year is really setting up to be huge, but we can't even think about that now. We still have Ole Miss and an incredibly-dangerous road game at South Carolina, which I think is 50/50, left before the Vols come to town.
Anyway, congrats on the way your team's been playing. Ainge looks like he's supposed to this year. Good to see Warren, Ark. native Brett Smith making some plays, too. Probably isn't too hard with Meacham on the other side.

What's up, Lupo? I, on the other hand, am surprised by your Hogs. Once you committed to Mustain for the season, I thought you guys were in trouble. This is the toughest conference in the country, after all. It is a testament to your coach, your team, and to the quarterback himself that with him in the lineup, you guys remain unscathed. That is one badass Hog and he will plague the rest of us for years to come. I just hope that he doesn't plague my Vols too bad this time around. Like you said though, there are a lot of tough games to be played between now and then. Thanks for the congrats and likewise to Arkansas. It's nice to see some new blood rise up and challenge the bad boys in the west.
