AP suits me better than the coaches. Only thing I can't figure out is the LSU ranking. How does a team lose two of its first six games. Have what? 1 TD inthe big games and stay in the top 15. Not sayin that to flame the tigers but c'mon.

Because style points matter and they hung what 40+ on the other teams.

Good on the AP for putting the Gators #2. They obviously have played better than USC thus far. I think LSU is still hanging around so high because they lost to the #2 team (at the time) a few weeks ago and the now #2 team last week. Looks like the SEC is finally getting some respect now that the USC "team of the century" and Texas hype are over with.

They're both our of the top 25! That's even more amazing. We should clean up state recruiting now! <evil laugh>
What I find odd is that we stole one first-place vote in the USA poll, yet we're still behind the condoms. It makes sense that a team with at least one person voting them #1 would be ahead of a team without anybody thinking they're number one, lol. I'm happy at #3, but I just found that to be curious.

Louisville started last season #11 (i believe that was the place)in the AP with one first place vote.

Gators new No. 2 in AP poll; Arkansas enters at 17Associated Press
These are good days to be a Gator.
Florida is the new No. 2 in The Associated Press Top 25, its highest ranking since Steve Spurrier left Gainesville, and by far the best team in the Sunshine State.
For the first time in 24 years, neither Miami nor Florida State is ranked.
Florida moved up three spots Sunday into second behind No. 1 Ohio State on the strength of a 23-10 victory over LSU on Saturday -- and with a lot help from Arkansas.
The Razorbacks pulled off the first stunner of the season, beating Auburn 27-10. The Tigers had held the No. 2 spot for three weeks. They became the first top-10 team to lose to an unranked team this season.
Arkansas is unranked no more.
The Razorbacks' big win moved them into the rankings for the first time since October 2003. With Arkansas at No. 17, the Southeastern Conference had six teams in the Top 25. Auburn fell to No. 11.
The Buckeyes have become a runaway No. 1, with 63 of 65 first-place votes and 1,623 points. Florida has 1,516 points and jumped over No. 3 USC, which had a second consecutive close call on Saturday, to become the fourth team to be No. 2 this season. Notre Dame and Texas have also been No. 2.
Mike Radano of the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J., was one of many voters to move Florida ahead of USC this week.
"USC hasn't been its same dominant self," Radano said. "I thought they got a little fortunate yesterday."
The Trojans beat Washington 26-20, a game that ended when the Huskies couldn't get a play off from the USC 15 with 2 seconds left.
"I got to watch both (USC and Florida) and I was a little more impressed with Florida's offense right now," Radano said.
Michigan moved up two spots to No. 4 and West Virginia slipped a spot to No. 5, though the Mountaineers received two first-place votes.
Texas is sixth followed by Louisville, Tennessee, Notre Dame and California, which moved back into the top 10 after an impressive 45-24 victory over Oregon.
Miami fell out of the rankings three weeks ago for the first time since 1999, and is still trying to work its way back. Florida State joined the Hurricanes among the unranked in the latest poll after losing 24-20 to North Carolina State on Thursday. The Seminoles and Hurricanes, who have combined for seven national titles since 1983, are both 3-2.
The last time neither was ranked was the final regular-season AP Top 25 of 1982, the year before Miami won the first of its five national championships.
Florida State was unranked for one week late last season.
The unbeaten Gators, in their second season under coach Urban Meyer, haven't held such lofty status in the media poll since 2001, the last season Spurrier was in charge at Florida. The Gators started that season No. 1 and finished it No. 3.
Florida was No. 7 in the preseason this year and had held steady at five for three weeks.
Auburn starts the second 10, followed by Clemson, Georgia Tech, LSU and Iowa.
Georgia dropped six spots to No. 16 after losing 51-33 to Tennessee. The Volunteers became just the second team to score 50 points at Sanford Stadium.
After Arkansas at No. 17, Oregon is 18th. Unbeatens Missouri and Boise State round out the top 20.
The final five are Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
The Badgers are ranked for the first time this season. Boston College dropped out of the rankings without playing.

I think Alabama is like what the Hogs were like last year. A lot better than their record showed, they just are not catching the breaks this year. Last year the Hogs were like a total of 8 points away from 7-4, instead we went 4-7...

Maybe the Cotton, Outback, or Peach bowl depending on how you guys finish. I hope we can run the table now that we're clicking!

A bowl game and a finish in the top 25 would be a great set up for Arkansas's 2007 football season. WPS!

yes it would... I'm thinking we'll get at least 7 wins... and I could see us beating one of those three tougher games (UT, SC, or LSU).. three good teams.. the two ranked teams at home... I think we'll get one of those, too.. So an 8 win season could be a reality.. awesome!

We have two nonconference games left, plus the Mississippi schools, so in my eyes, we shoud - at the very worst - end the regular season at 8-4, and that'd be with losses to USC, UT and LSU. Ole Miss isn't looking like the pushover it did through the first few weeks, however. That game is in Fayetteville though, so I still feel good about it. South CArolina is the one I'm worried about. That's going to be a huge, huge game if we beat the Rebels.

Arkansas should be around 20, but maybe I'm just a skeptick. I think they are good, but not THAT good. They thoughroly dominated us, but I want them to beat a Tennessee or LSU before they get that high of a ranking. Hell, we struggled with Buffalo and almost lost to USCE. Beating the #11 team in the nation is not enough send an unranked team all the way to 17, imo. Beat Tennessee or LSU, even if Arkansas just sqeaks by them, and Arkansas moves up to about 12 on my list. Just having 1 great game and beating a sup-par Bama team doesn't to enough for me.

17 is just fine.. thanks.. I was more surprised that Auburn moved to 11 than I was about us moving up to 17 (I thought they would be a little lower like 9 or something)... remember polls aren't really that important now. These things change week by week. Now if Auburn loses and we win this week (which I predict we will win.. and then I think we should beat Mississippi) we'll see what happens.... If we beat Tennesse (and they are still unbeaten) we should be in the top 10... because we will have beaten two top 10 teams and only lost to the number 2/3 team in the country... and that was an early loss.
but lets play football game by game... I'm not looking ahead. Not even past SEMOS.

Problem is, they didn't beat the # 11 team. Like it on not, Auburn (#2) got taken to the woodshed on national TV (more exposure to voters) by an unranked team.
