Hell of a game huh? Joe T III stepped up. They could have used him in the Colorado and Ole Miss games.

UT is better than advertised. UGA played a hell of a game, though.
Five minutes to go, UT ball.

Who woulda thunk it: UT hangs half-a-hunid on the dawgs between the hedges.
Glad we already played the Vols.

Nice job, Vols.

I think UGA's defense was a bit overrated, imo....considering the offenses they've faced thus far.
Either way, though, it was a very impressive win for Fulmer & Co.

That game may be good for the SEC. Since people don't seem to value great defense, maybe they'll appreciate the fact that in typical SEC games, defenses hold offense capable of putting on a display such as tonight in check.
Maybe.....but I doubt it.
In my opinion though, when you combine this game with LSU/FLA, it makes Fla look VERY VERY good.

Congradulations to TN, they played a heck of a game.
The UGA pass defense overrated. Too much attention was paid to stats put up against bad teams. This showed the first time we played a top tier SEC team. Having said that Ainge had a heck of a game tonight and seems to be improving as the year goes on. He did a great job of managing the game and has all the physical tools he needs.
Lumpkin stepped up and proved he deserves to be the starting tailback. I though Joe t did fine although I'm sure there will be plenty of fans with mancrushes on Stafford who will say he would have won the game for UGA, that is obvious BS. Joe thre one INT that was his fault, and one was tipped, the fumble was border line.
Two incredible runbacks by special teams but below average kick coverage for UGA. Three blocked kicks in two games make me wonder if there isn't a scheme problem. Bailey will do a good job kicking the rest of the season but we will miss Coutu.
This was a wild one and fun to watch, even if it was disappointing at the end. The Dawgs should roll into Jax 7-1 with the SEC East still a real possiblity.
GO DAWGS!

Yes I loved hanging 50 on the dawgs. Ainge just looks so poised out on the field this year.(thanks coach Cut). What a crazy game though.Georgia run a touchdown and a kick off for a score. The Vols had a blocked punt for a touchdown. 3 int`s for the vols. Turnovers and special teams .wow!!

The Vols looked very good, coming back and dominating like they did. It looks like we can't win on the road, so I dred going to Neyland and to Little Rock. Who woulda thunk LSU might end up 7-4?!? Anything can happen in the SEC and usually does.

your boys got jobbed by crap calls and turnovers...LSU's still a darn good ball club...UF and Tebow were awesome today though. As for the Big Orange, today was a huge statement for the return of UT to SEC and college football's elite. The UF game taught us alot on what it takes to match up against an incredible D (we weren't as prepared or ready to play as the Gators, and had one terrible second half) and how to take over a 4th quarter. Georgia is going to get better and Stafford will be a great player, but the Vols were definitely the better team today. We're out to prove that '05 was an abberation and that with the right coaching and chemistry, we're still a dangerous and powerful team to compete against.
Good luck to all and Go Vols!

Actually, 4 INTs. Their was one late in the 4th.
But all in all, Georgia came to play, and Tennessee wasn't ready in the 1st half. But Fulmer must of said something to some people during half-time, cause that was about as complete a half of football (exept that one kick-off return) I've seen Tennessee play in awile. Ainge looked great, the Defense looked scary, and special teams finally did something good.
Anyway, great game Georgia. I think although they're not complete yet, They're looking like they have alot to build on in the future.

Congrats to the UT team. They were the superior team and it showed.
The only worry I have about our team is how poorly our defense played. With the atheletes we have, there is no excuse to have an offense score on every possession in the second half. In fact, I am not sold on Martinez. Every good offensive team we have played going back to last year has put up HUGE numbers on our D. Auburn last year hung 32, West Virginia put up 38, UT last night puts up 51. That aint getting it done. Sure we shutout the slappies, but we are better than that. I may be the only one who has worries about Martinez, but when we had Van Gorder making the calls, our D was much more scary and intimidating.
I know the offense put the D in some bad places with untimely turnovers, but our D looked flat out bad to end the first half and the entire second half.

No, you're not the only one. I've been hearing the rumblings about Martinez for sometime, even before the WV game. And last night cemented it. Not taking away ANYTHING from the Vols, because they showed some serious skill, but that game should have been a dogfight until the last minute and it wasn't.

"Crap calls"? You obviously didn't watch the game...I don't think LSU had 50 yds of penalties...UF had 104! As far as bad calls...I guess you could call it a "wash"...on LSU's only scoring drive, UF was penalized for 30 yds...one on a PF for hand to the face...that even the announcers said was "iffy at best" and a PI on a ball that JR was trying to throw away... :thumbsdow
As far as the TOs...the UF defense had a little to do with them... :happy:

Well Boys I Must Say That In The 1st Half I Was Kinds Worried. Uga Came Out Like Gang Busters And We Looked Kinda Flat. I Want To Give Props To The Uga O. Those Guys Up Front Played Hard All Night! I Said We Win 31-17, Without The 2 Returns We Win 51-19! I Was Kinda Nervous About Our Special Teams Anyway. The Gayturds Took 1 Back On Us That Was Brought Back Because A Block In The Back. This Was The 1st Time In Several Years That The Dawg Fans Were Quiet Before The Game. No Trash Talking At The Tailgate...thats A Plus! I Think The Tn D Line Looked Ok At Best. The Loss Of Mcbride In The 1st Kinda Helped Ga Run The Ball. He Played A Little The Rest Of The Way But Played Hurt. The Tn O Line Graded A.. B...almost An A! Those Guys For The Most Part Contolled The Line And Gave Eric Time To Rip Up The Ga D Backs. The Wide Outs From Tn Have Come Home For Real! Those Guys Are The Best In Sec....would Grade Out Better But Dropped Some Catches In The 1st Half They Should Have Caught A-. Tn Running Backs B- Those Guys Got The Yards When We Needed It 104 Yards Rushing. Not A Great Day But They Got The Job Done And Helped Put The Game Away. What About The Linebackers And D Back. Even With The Loss Of Inky Those Guys Played Thier But Off. The Picks Were Show Stoppers For Uga O! The 1st Pick Was A Tip Pass By Karl...just Proves A White Boy Can Play Line Backer In The Sec..lol. Uga Average Field Poss. In 2nd Half Thier 12...tn Average Starting Field Poss Uga 49. Hard To Lose When U Play That Well On D. We Scored Every Poss In The 2nd Half Thats Got To Keep The Ga D Coach Up Late Tonight. They Never Had An Answer For Ole Cut..under Cut We Are 50-2 When We Score 30 Points Or More...51...on Uga At Home Outstanding!
I Told 1 Of U Uga Boys That If U Held The Tn O To 9 Points I Would Eat The Football...that Was A Bone Head Prediction 13-9?
Over All I Give The Tn Team A- For Thier Play At Ga. We Still Have Things To Work On And In A Tight Game The Special Teams Will Get Us Beat With That Kinda Play.
Bring On The Bammers! 2 Weeks Boys!!
Go Vols!!

Oh, I watched every minute of it. I did sound a little misleading, LSU had some questionable calls at pivotal points in the game. The Hester elbow call could have gone either way. Turnovers were the big one in this game, just like ours vs. UGa. Overall, officiating has been horrible this year.

Good game Vols. I was shocked that the score got that high on either side. We played great in the 1st half and fell apart in the 2nd. I really thought TN would throw in the towel before the late score near halftime. Their teams in the past have, but they didn't and I must give them credit. Coach Cut has really inspired that team on offense. Good luck the rest of the way.
Back to the boards for the Dawgs. We really need to fix a few holes on special teams, Defense, and Offense. We have a runnning back to build around. Tackling is attrocious.

That was a heavy weight boxing match. In the first half the Dawgs were landing some big haymakers. The Vols were steady with the jab all night though and wore down the Dawgs. You're exactly right Dml, in the past the Vols would have played to keep it a respectable loss. Last night they showed a lot of character sticking with the game plan. I don't know where the Barn fan or fans are that claim the West is better than the East, but whatever. I'm not sure a one loss team makes it to the MNC, but just in case they can go dawgs, beat the Gators. If one loss is one too many then I hope the Gators run the table and bring another Crystal ball to the best conference in the nation.
I love football season. I hate off weeks though. But I'm sure the guys can use a break before tackling a second half schedule that has us facing Alabama at home, LSU at home, and Arkansas on the road (this one scares me)

Reminded me more of the TN of old ( pre- Randy Sanders). Well played to start things off, GA. That was exactly what I thought the Dawgs needed to do - jump out early - had me very worried.
Second halves have historically belonged to Cut, though and he didn't fail this time. Just wish he could have found this team's identity a little earlier , but its still a long season ahead.

October 21 Alabama
October 28 at South Carolina
November 4 LSU
November 11 at Arkansas
November 18 at Vanderbilt
November 25 Kentucky
At Arkansas is starting to look really tough right now. Alabama will be a close one, it always is, and LSU won't be easy either.

I hope TN fans continue to look past USC. Maybe the coaches and players will mistakingly think it will be a cakewalk as well.
Here are the results the last few years for those that may be just a tad too "cocky." :whistle:
2005 = USC 16, TN 15 in Knoxville
2004 = TN 43, USC 29 in Columbia
2003 = TN 23, USC 20 in OVERTIME in Knoxville
2002 = TN 18, USC 10 in Columbia
2001 = TN 17, USC 10 in Knoxville
While there has only been 1 USC win during this timespan, all but 1 game has been close and it might not be too wise for a TN fan to take ANY Steve Spurrier team forgranted.

Congrat to UT, they whooped us pretty good. I was afraid that the Dawgs sorry Offense would bite 'em and it did, you gotta be able to match a team score for score when all heck breaks loose like it did.
UT can now savor this one for a few days before preparing for the next four games, which will make or break any shot at the Dome. I'd favor them in all right now, Ainge was money.
As for my boyz, they got an education which best translate into better production or more losses will ensue. The Offense just fell apart in the second half and must improve by leaps and bounds the next two games to have any credible shot at not being embarassed by the Gators.

Whats it matter if UT fans look past USC? I don't expect it to be anything like last year and it will surely not be a 1 point game. However, what I think isn't important. The attitude of the team and leaders such as Ainge and Meachem is that of one game at a time. In the post-game interviews when they were asked what the win over UGA meant they both responded that it was just one win in a long season and that there was still work to be done to get to the SECC. I can guarantee that UT will not overlook anyone after the embarassment that was last year.

Tennessee is not overlooking anyone right now. And if you think they would overlook SoCar, you are off your rocker. I don't think anybody overlooks a Spurrier coached team. Granted, they are not playing great ball right now, but I think everyone knows that Spurrier has a psychological edge over Fulmer. South Carolina wasn't playing spectacularly last year but played better than this year. Tennessee wasn't worth a dime last year (except for that LSU game) on offense...this year, shooting lights out at a blistering 35ppg. We have, thus far, ripped apart the top defense in the country, played UF closer than anyone as of yet, and tore up a top ten team that has since wreaked havoc in their own conference. I have seen enough of Spurrier to know that you never take him lightly. But, when you look at how SC has played this year, it is easy to think it may be an easy win. After last year, no one is overlooked. Why do we keep talking about Arkansas when they are after SC on the schedule? Because at the beginning of the season, no one gave them much credit (except maybe Ark fans). Now they lead the western division and with Malzahn calling plays like those that caught Auburn by surprise, Arkansas is looking like a SECCG contender. Had you asked me at the beginning of the season who I thought would be in the SECCG, I would have said Auburn and Florida, with maybe a second thought to either UT or LSU being there. Never imagined Arkansas. The game has us worried. Right now, it looms as large to us as the home game against LSU. Remember, we've all said it too many times around here and can't say it enough, this is the SEC, anything can happen any given Saturday.
