Does anyone know who the starter at rb will be come gameday. I figure it would be vincent, but i really hope scott and williams get alot of carries. Freshmen are so anxious to try to make big plays and earn their playing time that they give so much more than the guys that have been there awhile. Miles should give them their share of carries. Vincent hasnt done anything since 03 and broussard doesnt even run, hes to afraid to get hit, or atleast that is what he looks like.

I believe Hester, Broussard, Scott, and Vincent will be splitting the carries.

Is there anything Hester cant do? Hes an amazing half back, running back, i mean come on. If Broussard can get out of his " I dont want to get hit" mode he will do great. But Scott should get his chance to shine i want to see how he handles under pressure. If we can give Russel some time to throw, we will pick them apart.

Here is the LSU condition at running back as I see it:

Alley Broussard - If not for the knee surgery he would be one of the best backs in the SEC right now. Simply put, he has played very timidly since the injury and is just not the ram-it-down-your-throat runner that he was before the injury. I see him getting the majority of the carries come Saturday.

Justin Vincent - Vincent has sucked ever since his MVP performance in the National Championship Game 2003. He has progressively gotten worse and I would like nothing more than to see him get a ton of carries against the Gators. If I'm Les Miles he doesn't step on my football field.

Jacob Hester - The most dependable back in the SEC and one of the most underappreciated back in the country. Hester simply does it all. While he plays more like a fullback, he can also run the ball from the tailback spot and catches very well out of the backfield. He can run block and pass block and he can straight up run people over. If I were the Tigers he would be my go-to-guy for the grind it out yards or near the goalline.

Charles Scott - A dynamic freshman who has good power, speed and vision. He will be a great running back in time and he should get a number of carries against Florida. His hands are good so he can be counted on. He will be LSU's speed option against Florida with Vincent virtually worthless.

Keiland Williams - IMO Williams has much more potential than Scott. That is saying a lot. He just seems to be one step quicker and slightly more powerful. He hasn't seen as many carries, though, and I speculate that he is not as comfortable with the playbook. He has the speed and power to be an every down back, but does not have as good vision as Scott. I don't think he will see more than 3 or 4 carries against Florida, unless he has a very nice carry early.

Williams wasn't cleared by the NCAA until the week before the first game of the season, so he's still adapting.

Yep that's why he's still uncomfortable with the playbook and Scott is getting more carries.

I think it's sad that Vincent performs like he does. I remember watching him in the SEC Championship game and the National Championship and thinking that "this guy is a star in the making. I can't wait to see what he does over the next few years".

Apparently I was very wrong.

Here is my take on the LSU running game after having played them:

1. Jacob Hester should be the starting running back hands down. He runs over people, fights for every yard and never loses yardage. He can catch the ball out of the backfield. He can block better than any of the other RBs so I have no idea why he shouldn't be the starter. Glad to see him get the call against us, because I think he deserved it.

2. Alley Broussard simply has not recovered from his knee injury. He shows flashes at times, but does not pound the holes or take on linebackers like he usually does. He seems to be playing timidly, whereas before he was one of the most aggressive runners on the field. His aggressiveness made him great, without he is an average RB at best.

3. Justin Vincent has no place in the rotation but on the bench. It seems hard to believe that we were talking about him as a definite Heismann winner just 3 years ago. He has shown nothing and shouldn't get any more PT as far as I'm concerned unless he works his butt of in coverage.

4. Charles Scott didn't get a lot of time against us. In fact, I don't recall him carrying the ball at all. He is one of those guys that will get rolling with more touches. I think he is the back of the future at the moment and should get much more PT than Miles is giving him at the moment.

5. Keiland Williams clearly hasn't learned the playbook yet, or else Les Miles is being completely boneheaded. Williams is the most athletic out of any of the RBs and probably has the most potential. The only reason we haven's seen him has to be his struggle to learn the plays. Hopefully, for the Tiger's sake, he will pick it up soon, because he will be a force when he gets in.

2.) agree to an extent, i think he is still deciplined enough to deserve a spot in the rotation game in and game out, very talented and his experience helps him find the holes to punch through, all it takes is 3 or 4 yards a carry to get the 1st down before 4.

3.) completely agree, he's not worth the scholorship he's being paid at this point.

4.) completely agree, another les miles coaching overlook, very bad at evaluating talent. i don't care who the best is in practice, if he's lame on game day, ya know what, you don't play him, if you have a freshman who is tearing it up on the field againt teams other then your scout team, THEN PLAY HIM.

5.)another case of not utilizing talent. our our wonderful LESS miles.
