I think most UK folks are logging on to local boards like Wildcat Faithful.com and the major newspaper forums. I like this place much more, though. Too many idiots on the local boards. I'd rather most of those folks stay where they are.

Yeah; just wait till Hoops Season and you'll appreciate being over here instead.
SEC is a solid Basketball Conference too, just ask Florida, LSU(Mens and Womens), Tennessee(Mens and Womens), South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, and hopefully Arkansas and Mississippi State can return to their glory days on the court. Even Vandy has its good years.
I wish I could say something good about the state of Auburn Basketball.

I wish I could say something good about the state of Auburn Basketball.Auburn needs to resurrect the 'Round Mound of Rebound'!
The sports rag message boards and newspaper message boards are a joke. I prefer to hangout here with southern bretheren.........much more fun...so glad I found this forum.

Yes, there are some hilarious characters in these forums, and, for the most part, pretty knowledgeable, too. The moderators and admins do a nice job of keeping the yahoos, rare as they may be, in line.
I like the insight on other teams you can get from the other posters, especially on a team you face that week. Most of the ribbing is good natured and fun, and every now and then a football conversation breaks out.

D'oh! Didn't even know this board was here. I've just never scrolled down off the main menu to see the rest of the list.
To whoever mentioned Wildcat Faithful earlier in the thread... What happened to that site? They just run out of money? I used to spend a little time there, then got sick of all the idiots bashing Brooks without any understanding of reality. I just noticed a couple of weeks ago it's gone now.

I dunno man...I noticed that a few weeks ago too. I posted at the Cats Domain briefly....but it wasn't my cup o' tea. So now for all things Big Blue, I'm over at Wildcat Maniacs.
As for the rest of you...it's hard to get UK fans on SEC boards because we like to have INTELLIGENT discussions about basketball....something the other 11 schools supporters seem to have no desire to do. Can you blame us?

Here's more for the ATBers:

Tubby Smith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubby_Smith)
Smith was introduced as the Wildcats' 20th head coach on May 12, 1997, charged with the unenviable task of replacing popular coach Rick Pitino, who had left to become the head coach of the NBA's Boston Celtics. The Wildcats were at the top of the basketball world at the time, having won a national title in 1996 and, according to many, missing a second straight title in 1997 by the torn ACL of shooting guard Derek Anderson.[17] (Anderson tore his ACL in January against SEC foe Auburn; Kentucky lost the 1997 title game in overtime to the Arizona Wildcats.) The team Smith inherited sported seven players still smarting and motivated from the Arizona loss, and five from the 1996 championship team.[18]
In his first season at UK, he coached the Wildcats to their seventh NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, including a come from behind victory against Duke in the Elite Eight (see 1998 NCAA Tournament).
Despite an early ranking projecting his team comfortably in the nation's top 20, Tubby's 2006 team yielded one of the most disappointing season performances of his entire career at UK, losing to #1 seeded Connecticut in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Smith's teams, known primarily for a defense-oriented slower style of play coined "Tubbyball", have received mixed reviews among Kentucky fans who have historically enjoyed a faster, higher-scoring style of play under previous coaches.
Since arriving in Lexington in 1997, Smith has led Kentucky to one National Championship in 1998, a perfect 16-0 regular season conference record in 2003, five SEC regular season championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005) and five SEC Tournament titles (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004), with six Sweet Sixteen finishes and three Elite Eight finishes (1999, 2003, 2005) in his nine seasons. He totaled 100 wins quicker than any other Wildcat coach except Hall of Famer Adolph Rupp, reaching the plateau in 130 games.
Although Smith has compiled an impressive resume over his career, he has nevertheless come under much pressure from many UK fans, who believe that Tubby's failure to reach the Final Four since his first year as UK Head Coach in 1998 is unacceptable by Kentucky standards.[19]
