This should be fun. Whenever a player anywhere requires discipline ask yourself- WW(Mike)SD? Then post it here.
Albert Haynesworth stomps on some guy's face. WWSD?

Well its obvious that this act merits a punishment of at least 4-6 weeks suspension, so in the case of WWSD, hes gonna miss the final game of this season once they are out of playoff contention, as well as the entire pre-season of the following year. Devastating!

Well, its obviously unfair to the team to suspend him for games
I think the obvious answer to WWSD in this situation is as follows:
-Haynesworth forced to do extra laps after practice
-must sit at the back of the team bus for 3 weeks
-and last but not least he is forced to read chapter 14 from the book Anger Management 101 titled "Why It's Not Always A Good Idea To Stomp on People's Faces"

Wow, this is reaching pretty bad here. I'm guessing this is in response to Shula's handleing of Juwan Simpson? I really hope there are other major cases of lax punishment on Shula's part that I haven't heard about, if not, then you guys are reaching farther than Ty Prothro on a certain catch last year against So.Miss....
Do I have to remind you of other SEC coaches who have had similar questionable calls in this area? Wasn't it UT, a few years ago, who replaced Miami as the number 1 "thug" school in America for the number of off the field problems they had going into the new season? Florida under Spurrier and Auburn under Tuberville have had their share of punitive issues that raised eye brows. I can't imagine myself starting a thread that constituted such a colossal waste of time. Perfect example of folks hating on Bama more than they care for their own teams.

speaking of reaching..if you are labeling spurrier with the likes of fulmer, miami, and schula, you are extremely mis-informed.
spurrier is the one coach who has a reputation of not putting up with anything......simpson would of been suspended much more than a "bye" week had spurrier been his coach.

Fair enough, but the question remains, all this fuss over Juwan Simpson? Come on now.....

it isnt about simpson....it is about the way schula went about the punishment. one thing i will give him is he is honest in his reasoning. not too many coaches in america would come out and say, "yeah, we cant suspend them for the good teams b/c that would hurt the team, not to mention my job security."

I'm with you, Blues Cap.
I can't really speak for his Florida days, but Spurrier sure isn't putting up with any non-sense like that now at SC. Two years ago, he basically kicked the entire starting defense off the team, along with the leading rusher......and still went 7-5 (when everyone thought he'd go 4-7).

lol if shula didn't say anything after the game everyone would have been clueless. the fact is he likes to keep discipline in-house. i was kinda shocked he even said anything, it's not his style.
was i disappointed on how it was handled? yeah, but a part of it is that this is the first time shula has actually admitted how he handled discipline.

IMHO: Shula would consult his coaching staff, the AD, and whomever it was logical to consult on the matter at hand. After adequate time and counsel from all parties involved and on a need to know bases he would make his decisions.
Now is he perfect? No. Is there a perfect coach? No.
Move on.

Nobody is perfect. Some are just better than others.
Example- a star linebacker getting 6 games and counting for PUI-pedestrian under the influence.

What did Simpson do that was so wrong? He did everything he was supposed to do with the gun. He had it checked out by the local police when he got it and they verified that it wasn't stolen. He passed every drug test he has ever taken. The dope belonged to the passenger. You can say he is guilty of hanging around the wrong people and allowing this to happen. Simpson is a good STUDENT and has never been in trouble before, if this would have been his second time in trouble I'm sure it would have been handled in a more severe way. Get over it and worry about Auburn and maintaining your accreditation. Maybe this weekend has you feeling a little antsy with the Gators coming into town and you have to go and bash Bama and Shula. RHSS syndrome.

ITS THOSE FOLKS AROUND HIM AND THE OTHER PEOPLE THROUGOUT THE STATE THAT RUN THE BAMA PROGRAM THAT KEEP MAKING BAD DECISIONS FOR BAMA!
IF HE WAS SMART HE WOULD MAKE HIS OWN DECISIONS AND LEAVE THOSE IDIOTS OUT OF IT.
I WILL SAY THIS FOR EVERY PROGRAM IN THE SEC...WE ALL GET PLAYERS FROM ANY TOWN USA. THESE ARE KIDS WHO COME FROM EVERY TYPE BACK GROUND U CAN THINK OF. GOOD AND BAD...I SEE PEOPLE EVERYDAY WHO CAN'T CONTROL THEIR OWN 13 YEAR OLD KIDS..THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO BARK THE LOUDEST ABOUT THE 80 KIDS THESE COUCHES HAVE TO CONTROL..IT CANT BE EASY...

come on blues, a game is a game is a game to a player and frankly they get the All American stats in easy games, the stats they NEED for the NFL or to brag about, so by hand selecting a tough conference game to suspend a player in order to look good in the eyes of posters is punishing the team and the University and the fans

i agree it is unfair to all involved other than the player. the problem is that is may open a can of worms for future discipline.
i wish uf would suspend m thomas for west. carolina and vandy instead of lsu and au but unfortunately most programs dont take the same stance shula seems to.
like i said b/f, you gotta be impressed with his honesty about the suspensions....most coaches would never tell the reasons for which games as frankly as shula did.

This thread reminds me of that fake NFL combine test that was floating around sometime last year:
"You are a player for the University of Tennessee. You are 21. The underage girl you were caught sleeping with was 14. How many plays against a non-conference opponent will you have to sit out?"

He could be like good ole Coach Sly Croom over at MSU.... Kick what lil talent he has off the team and then when one of his recruits screws up(and not J. Sherrils) like the 6 that were in trouble for beating up a cop at a local night club just slap them on their rist and kiss their butt and wola.....They are back on the field with no games missed. But the again.... We are talkin about a different type of coach.

Not trying to start anything, I never saw that it was confirmed the police checked out the gun. I thought they said the charges would be dropped if that were the case. By the way though, doing everything he was supposed to do would have involved getting a license for the handgun at which time it would have definitely been determined it was stolen. And on a more sane note why did he have the gun in the car to start with.
