True freshman Charles Scott of Jonesboro showed some much needed acceleration in gaining 101 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns as the No. 10 Tigers roared by Tulane 49-7 in front of 92,135 at Tiger Stadium Saturday night.
Scott, who did not play as LSU struggled to run the ball in a 7-3 loss at Auburn a week ago, broke a 20-yard run on his second play from scrimmage on LSU's second possession of the game. By halftime, he had 77 yards on 11 carries with a 16-yard reception and an 8-yard touchdown run as LSU (3-1) took a 28-0 lead into the locker room. He added a 7-yard touchdown run midway in the third quarter.
