It was reported on Baton Rouge TV tonight (Friday) that freshman running back Charles Scott would start Saturday night against the Tulane Green Wave. Coach Les Miles is looking to jump-start the Tiger's lackluster running game, and Scott may be just the remedy. Here's the skinny on the 5'11" 221 lb. highly touted freshman from Saline, LA, Jonesboro-Hodge High School:

Consensus top running back prospect in the state of Louisiana and one of the most highly recruited in the nation ... Runs with outstanding power and balance ... Rarely goes down on first contact ... A versatile player who has played running back, linebacker and defensive back in his high school career ... Led high school team to the Class 2A quarterfinals in 2005 ... Finished an outstanding high school career by rushing for 2,039 yards and 28 touchdowns with an 8.2 yards per carry average as a senior ... Rushed for 1,672 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior ... A three-time all-district performer at running back and has received one all-district selection as a defensive back ... A multi-sport star who is also an all-district performer in baseball and basketball ... Bench presses 330 pounds and squats 405 pounds ... Has been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash .
