They just announced it on the radio. Moe Brown will get the other WR spot, and our entire right side of the offensive line is new.

Also, Paulk and Doughty will start for the defense as well.

Honestly I've been more impressed with Newton than Smelley from what I've seen. Maybe Smelley has more potential, but I think Newton is the right call for you guys for now. I like it. He adds a lot more versatility to the offense at the QB spot.

You are absolutely correct Shank! Newton has the experience and the versatility to succeed in this league. Everyone seems to forget that he has a year under his belt starting at QB in the SEC. Actually, I think by starting Syvelle, it may be a blessing in disguise. With our OL still trying to "Gel" and play as a team, we need a very mobile QB to keep us out of trouble.

ANY QB that runs the 40 in 4.4 seconds is a dangerous QB. PERIOD AND POINT BLANK.

Good call IMO.
1- Syvelle is one of our best athletes and can scramble if needed to allow for the new OL starters.
2- New OL starters can get a less-experienced QB killed.
3- Not that we can afford to lose SN, but we definitely can not afford to lose Smelley.
4- Smelley may be big time for us and it just doesn't "sound" as good to say his first NCAA start came against Wofford.
5- Having SN start basically makes an opponent plan for every thing imaginable. I believe I'd announce him to start at every game.
6- It really doesn't matter who starts. It's who finishes that we should really care about. Personally, I'm hoping the game is far enough along by the 3rd quarter that Thompson starts the 2nd half and plays lights-out!! Now that would be something to get excited about, even against a weaker team.

Glad to see some freshman playing. Who's spot is Paulk taking?

That starter's list looks really good. I'm happy to see Rodney Paulk on there. When recruting was going on I heard a lot of good things about him and hopefully he can keep playing well and become our every day LB. Also its great to see the two True Freshmen in there on the OL. They need the experience and not better way to get your first start against a D-IAA team. Hopefully these guys learn something and we can play better as a team. I think Newton will probably play the first half and when game will be over by then and they Smelley will probably come in. Dang I didnt even realize that Mike Davis was starting this whole time. I saw Cory Boyd so much I didnt realize that. It is a no brainer that Boyd should start. He will start for the rest of the year and start next year as well. I think Mike Davis is moving lower and lower in the depth chart. Next year when Maddox comes in I wonder what is going to happen to Davis.

Well, if Davis doesn't start hitting his holes or at least try to make something out of nothing, he will be behind Maddox and Boyd next year. I would go as far as saying with SN at QB, that all of the "Newtonian Playbook" won't be used so that we can keep some surprises in place for the remainder of the season when we really get into the meat of the schedule.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new lineup performs like. They sure can't do any worse than what we've seen so far.

I must say I am kind of excited about this move. Read an article last night where Spurrier said "He could potentially take us through the year". Bet Blake won't care to read that!!! No seriously, I think it is a good move, and like Spurrier said, we need a spark on offense right now. I only hope SOS allows him to throw and everything, and not just run QB left and QB right all night long.

I am excited about seeing Moe Brown get more reps. He was in late the other night but did an awesome job of getting off the ball and getting open. Unfortunately he was running downfield and I don't think we looked there all night.

Come on RW. At least give Spurrier a chance to get enough of his recruits in there to develop some depth. Our problem is fundamental. We lack depth. For the first time in a very long time, I see a coach with a long-term plan. I hoped he could turn everything around right away, but logically, that was just a hope. Reality is, it takes time. Especially as bad off as we were when he took over.

Once again, I ask wasn't Jordin Lindsey suspended from the team for grades?

Spurrier wants Newton to throw the ball more than he runs but he told Newton that he has the "Green Light" to run at anytime. i think this is a good move with as bad as our Oline has played this year.

That was his brother, Dustin.

one thing Syvelle will do is throw the ball downfield and give the receivers the opportunity to make plays. The receivers are the strength of the offense and they have not been allowed to make plays.

Yeah, I answered my own question by looking it up on the offical team page. It just threw me off because Dustin was the LB in college.
