BATON ROUGE -- LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=174923&Q_SEASON=2006) (6'2" 300lbs.) has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week following his performance in the Tigers' 45-3 win over Arizona on Saturday.

The honor is the first of Dorsey’s career and the first for an LSU player this season.

Dorsey, a junior from Gonzales, La., registered four tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss against the Wildcats. Dorsey combined with linebacker Darry Beckwith (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=174056&Q_SEASON=2006) for a half sack in the first quarter against the Wildcats and he later added a tackle for a 7-yard loss.

In all, Dorsey helped a Tiger defense limit Arizona to only 35 yards rushing for the game and just 152 yards of total offense.

LSU’s defense also extended its streak of keeping the opponent out of the endzone to 14 quarters, which ranks as the nation’s longest current streak. LSU’s defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown since the second quarter of the Georgia contest a year ago.

Other SEC honors handed out on Monday include: quarterback Erik Ainge of Tennessee as the offensive player of the week; defensive end Charles Johnson of Georgia as the defensive player of the week; placekicker Leigh Tiffin of Alabama as the special teams player of the week; offensive guard Ben Grubbs of Auburn as the offensive lineman of the week; and wide receiver Percy Harvin of Florida as the freshman of the week.

I'll say that streak ends this weekend.

I think everyone is in agreement there. But if it doesn't we should just go ahead and give LSU the ADT National Championship Trophy after this weekend.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but for once I agree with a Gator fan (I can hear my stepdad laughing now). They might as well just give the Tigers the trophy.... we're going to get it anyway and it would save the ego's of alot of poor Gator players.... along with everyone else we're playing this year!

I used to be a huge LSU fan because I live in Louisiana. As I'm sure you know LSU football is bigger in Louisiana than any other sport period. I'm still a pretty big LSU fan, except on those days that the schedule says LSU vs. Florida.

The LSU defensive secondary is hightly touted as the best unit in the nation. Auburn's defensive line averages 6'3", 277 and the linebackers average 6'1", 219. LSU's starting offensive line averages 6'4", 307. The LSU offensive line size advantage could wear down Auburn's defense in the second half. LSU's D is a hugh Auburn problem, IMO.
